BMW F30 328i N20 engine build part 2

In this mini series, we tear down an N20 engine, building it with forged internals and adding a little bit more boost with a custom tune. We’re going for a reliable but fun build which will eventually evolve into turning it right up to its full potential and becoming a track car.

The timing chains are good also as long as you change the damn oil not 15-20 thousand mile changes😂 these engines run HOT you don’t want oil in that long and keep oil in it it’s ran off oil pressure you’re good to overfill a tiny bit on these people who race them do it with no problems

hi buddy i have the same f30 328i ,but mine only broke the piston rings, it doesn't build up compression..do i need to take out the engine or what's your advice to fix it easy and smart???

I have bad rod bearing! Would recommend rebuild the engine or replace it?

Do you think it’s possible to remove and replace the cylinder head with the N20 engine still in the car. My timing chain guides broke apart and it skipped time, so I probably have bent valves.

I have a P1339 code for n20 2012 528i xdrive, replaced the both camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor but error still pops up after code reset. cables are good. any idea what need to be checked next? Thanks.

I would check cam timing and make sure the chain hasn't skipped or stretched

What’s the HP goal you guys are trying achieve?

For now we are seeing how the engine responds to boost levels of around 24psi. We will see the results achieved in Episode 4 ;)
