have been following ur stuff real closely as well as the newsletters! I’ve learnt a lot from all of them but would love to hear more about advanced strategy tips in a video or breakdowns of pro/rec plays more. I wish I could do the 5 day intensive but I live in socal as a student. Would also love to see some DUPR guessing, some tips for the mental game, and more podcasts!! I love listening to your podcasts over a meal or when I’m about to sleep/commuting. Keep up the good work Jordan!

Great video. You posted this yesterday. The link to sign up for the free Master Class is already closed! A one day window to sign up for your "free" offering doesn't seem right. How about you open that up again?

Footwork first is such an underrated concept. It’s helped my dinking a lot.

Yes. That's where I'm spending my time right now. If you think your footwork is good, video yourself playing. Harsh reality.

Another great vid. I'm almost at the point where these strategies and techniques will become the focus of my practice. Footwork is improving.

Jordan, what grip are you using on your forehand topspin shots?
@BrionesPickleball
@BrionesPickleball 3 ай бұрын
Eastern

@@BrionesPickleballFor clarity - your ready position grip is continental for volleys and backhand slice dinks and flicks. But if to your forehand you are actively closing your paddle a little (to Eastern) to hit the topspin dink and speed up. I suppose if you choose a forehand slice dink, then you’ll stay in continental. Sound about right? Thank you!

9:05 and specifically waiting for the apex/ fall is sooo CRUCIAL. So many players dont understand this concept to hit topspin shots

Now that more players are using two hands to hold the paddle if the ball hits the off hand is that still a legal shot? does the off hand have to be gripping the handle?
@BrionesPickleball

Hand has to be on the grip

Have you ever heard a junior instructor who is rating you tell you that you play to aggressively, even though you win all the time at the 3.5 level. He says it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Oh really???? Then why are we all taking lessons and clinics if we don’t want to improve and win matches. Any advise would be appreciated.

Not sure about the exact scenario, but winning matches does count for something in my book.

@@BrionesPickleball Absolutely, why play if that’s not your goal.

I’m guessing, that you’re winning lots of shots and thus games, off plays that are not going to work above 4.0. I can’t even count how many games I’ve lost because my partner is doing moves he made a habit of after years of 3.5 play. Most commonly is speed ups and lunging side drives (where a soft dead dink to middle to reset would be 110% wiser). Honestly it’s hard to explain over text.

So what I think is going on here was mentioned in another comment. If you want to get better, you may be winning at 3.5, but the tactics that you’re using to win will actually cause you to lose at the 4.0-4.5 level. I heard it described as learning how to win for tomorrow. You may lose early on by using newer tactics but it’ll actually benefit you in the long run as these tactics are going to what you need to be successful at the higher levels.
