I'm wondering if the pyramid "shell" should also be built as a whole in order to avoid the split down the middle. I'm guessing it might be hard to grip the shell though and remove it. I'm also tempted to just buy the pieces to make up the second half as you have done for just the base and pyramid shell (not including the unbuilt half underneath) as it seems a lot of pieces from the second set will be unneeded - I haven't figured out if this would be a cost saving or not.
@BriQFoundation2 жыл бұрын
That is absolutely one way. I was lucky enough that Zavvi sent over the sets to me. Otherwise, Cost would’ve definitely been figured into it.

There's a pretty good MOC on Rebrickable that uses two sets to good results. The pyramid shell is whole and there are more buildings and water around the front and side of the pyramid. The base is also square which is more aesthetically pleasing. Yes the shell is harder to get off if its in one piece but it looks a lot better with no seam.

Technically there is an error/inaccuracy in the set... but only if you subscribe to the internal ramp hypothesis, which does have some decent evidence and get around a lot of the problems with other ideas about how the pyramids were biult. Then again, showing an internal ramp at this particular scale might be impractical. Also, The Great Pyramid isn't the one with the little tiny queen pyramids next to it, that's the Red Pyramid(and even if it was, it's entrance doesn't line up with them this way)

I feel that I've been doing this a lot lately with Lego sets...that they're impressive, but in need of "fixing". I guess that's the beauty of Lego. I spent several weeks rebuilding and improving the Lego Titanic and just the other day I had to make a few small mods to my Optimus Prime to fix some minor problems. 🤷♂️. Stellar job on THIS mod...it would prove too expensive for me as I need the new castle! 👍

@@readyplayerocto If I had the means to share photos I would be happy to. I'm sure Lego experts could probably improve on what I've done, but considering that I'm not an expert, I have to say I'm pretty happy with the results. I should also point out that I would be accurately accused of "cheating" as I made use of custom stickers on areas that I felt just couldn't do the overall look justice with actual bricks. I also didn't create any kind of guide for my mods. I would create a mock up, stare at it for a day or two and then change it to make it look better until I got the way I wanted it. So the bow (specifically the forecastle) went through several rebuilds until it turned out just right. 🤗

This is superb attention to detail, and from the first reveal one of the largest glaring issues with simply placing two of these together. I love everything EGYPTIAN so I'm definitely getting this especially the history of their empires and mythology a must have. The Nile inclusion is a great bonus with that solid layered depth building technique and the mini boats have some clever parts usage, I like micro builds but have never really gotten into them but these wonders of the world sub theme are very appealing hope they make Hanging Gardens of Babaylon or even a more stylised Mount Olympus would be cool. I'll be putting it right against the wall don't necessarily need a full pyramid as the illusion is created but would have preferred a full one with a more detailed interior with some booby traps love the other buildings included with the spire/tower and sphinxes and the overall foliage looks like a cracking build.

I’m kinda frustrated here because I want to see it from the top and the camera keeps looking it from human eye level. Also a little critique, my OCD keeps kickin my ass when I see the symmetrical brick module of the pyramid, which I think shouldn’t be that way. it should have the same rhythm, meaning that the short brick should meet longer brick instead of another short brick, to avoid the back side of the pyramid looking like a mirrorized version of the original front side, u know what I mean

Hi I completed the full pyramid with no assistance from here. I did three flat squares deep as shown here. The only parts you need to replace are the 2x4 wedges in tan and sand in the thin and tan on the thicker ones. You need left hand to do the back pyramid. I just used the sand colored blocks from the front to fill the back in layers. Then put trees on the back for some color. I moved the village just a bit and used the three extra sphinx’s to balance out the walkway. I got the dunes right. To be honest Lego did a good job balancing this out. They made it as is to you could buy this at a reasonable price. But if you want more you can pay more for the rest. If this was $270 many would not buy it. To me it was worth it and makes a impressive display. Note bot kits include an axle to join both kit. No one really says this but Lego made a holder for the pin on each kit. The reverse build was not difficult but I do a lot of Technic super cars where you are. Hall Angel a bit. Same on the Titanic. To me the reverse build made this interesting.
