Ahhh, the old days in Brisbane. What memories we had. Rock 'n Roll George cruising the streets in his FJ Holden. Catching a tram down to the Valley Baths for a lunch time swim, etc, etc, etc. Life was so simple than today.

Brings back beautiful memories of me as a working girl in the city travelling to and fro every work day. Somehow it was relaxing to sit on the tram and travell ...read a book or knit or just gaze out the window....thanks for sharing! Nostalgia ❤

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I was not fortunate enough to see Brisbane with the trams running. My dad and I planned a trip there back in 1968, but it never eventuated. For quite some years during the early 1960's, Brisbane had Australia's newest trams with the Phoenix cars. It was quite a shock, when they suddenly decided to scrap them. Maybe one day, trams may return there as modern light rail, like in the Gold Coast. We can always hope, I suppose.

Thankyou Ron the Camera man for uploading such nastagia of Brisbane, Wow theres allot going on there ive got Google Maps and Streetvie comparing over there and today and its remarkable how the Brisbane Inner Busway was dug out from the then Queen St busy Tram intersection. unfortunately video footage such as this can go to a museum in Canberra where no one visits hardly or if they do its always rush rush watch 4 mins and go. putting such nostalgia on the tube to be viewed maybe with some old time music i think its the future of preserving our past. cheers.

Thank you for keeping alive the memories of our youth. A music track and / or appropriate sound would add affect. It is a shame that we did not have the wide streets of Melbourne or we might still have a tram system to enjoy - what a loss from our history. Many was the time I waited with my mother in Queen Street for for our tram home among many lined up down that street. Thank you for your effort.

No bicycles, scooters, or motorbikes. I feel like the city is less busy now than it was in the 60s. Thanks for the video.

Sometimes I used to get the Tam to Queen Street and my mum Worked at The GPO, So I'd meet her when she finished at Twn PM. That was when Brissy was just a big country town. A Great palce to live

Of all the states that need trams the most itd be Brisbane. Getting around is such a pain when its not flat.

I am unable to give the exact year, but it would have been either 1968 or 69

Some time betweeb January 1968 and April 1969. The HK Holden was released in January 1968, the new Victoria bridge was opened in April '69. The footage was shot between those dates.

It seems like what we need to do is remove the asphalt pavement that covers up the tram tracks that are still here, that were wisely set in concrete to protect them from vandalism. Then we need to build about three hundred new trams like the ones that were burned at paddington, and to string up the overhead wires like before, and then we are back in business.

Correct they should never have stopped, a great way to get around Brissy. Saturday to Doomben or Eagle Farm and listening to the other punters stories of either winning or losing.

Trams sucked anyways. At the time, they were also talks about ripping up the Railways as Mayor Clem Jones supports car dependency and believed that cars where the future. Autombiles were essentially seen as pods back in the day. luckilly, we did not loose the trains and instead electrified them
