Big Lew BBQ & Other Things I Want to Do!

Күн бұрын

A few months back I tried out some Uncle Steve’s Shake Thick Meat rub on a brisket. I cooked the brisket on my Old Smokey Jumbo a 22” grill.
It was my most successful attempt to to cook a brisket on an Old Smokey up to that point.
Every think went well but the weather, it rained that day. #UncleStevesShake #oldsmokeyproducts #OldSmokey

That looked like some of the best brisket I've ever seen. AWESOME! It really looked juicy...not like someone let it sit in juice in the pan but juicy to the cut.

Daddy Dutch BBQ Thanks Kent, I was never two successful with brisket on them prior to this. The snake method was the key! However, the way tom rigged yours up with that charcoal plate as a heat deflector it might work even better.

Fantastic looking brisket Big Lew! You gotta love the old Smokey, I’ve done flats on my 18, they work out really great, one day I’ll get the 22. Hope you guys have a great week!

Pickles BBQ I think Old Smokey is the best value in the barbecue industry. American made too. I’ll me replacing my 18” real soon! I cooked a ham on it Wednesday night. That may have been its final cook. It’s 5 + years old and the 18 is the most frequently used grill I have. Last May’s tornado was rough on it. The bottom was about 150 yards away in the neighbor’s lawn and the lid was about twice as far beyond that. I got it straightened out and repaired but it doesn’t tams level anymore. I saw the 18’s for 43 bucks, off season clearance priced at Walmart the other day. I’m probably going to go back buy a new 18 tomorrow or Sunday before they are gone. As for the 22” it’s awesome better at low and slow stuff like this brisket. In stock condition the 18 is better at searing a steak though! You know I love these grills, so I’ll shut up now. No I’m not paid to say this stuff either. I believe it!

Good looking brisket Lew. I've never done one on anything but my pellet grill and plan to do the next one on a kettle. Can't wait to try Uncle Steve's rub. My wife has tried so many of my cooks if she gave something the kind of endorsement your's did it would be special. Nicely done.

Hey thanks for taking time to watch this Papa. Brisket, Texas’s favorite bbq meat, on a Texas made grill, with a Texas made seasoning. It was appropriate and appropriated that you, Papa Texas, take time to watch this! Even if I’m from east of the Sabine, but I’m only 15 miles from Texas. Thanks Papa!

Hey Lew! Looks like you've got the Smokey dialed in! And to think this is only a Select.........just imagine how good a Prime would have been!?!? Can't wait till You get yourself one! 👍 \m/
@BigLewBBQ
@BigLewBBQ 4 жыл бұрын
Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que it’s only a $65 dollar grill! A prime brisket would cost more than the cooker it’s cooked on! But yeah it would have been good. That being said I love these Old Smokey grills. The absolute best value in Barbecue equipment. No better grill can be found for less than $100 dollars retail price. Yes, sales can be found on the baseline Weber Kettles (I got mine for just $50), but it’s regular price is over a hundred. Old Smokey’s are not a Weber clone, they are totally different, and with proper care and maintenance will last 5-10 years. They are light weight, easy to clean and travel well. Old Smokey grills are American made too. OS doesn’t pay me to say this stuff, I truly believe it. I could go on and on, but I’ll stop! Thanks so much for watching Ken. I really appreciate it.

Big lew!! I ran into a problem I did not see coming. I usually use briquettes and wood chunks to smoke my Boston butt. I use the snake method with a water pan in the center on my ole smokey. This time I used natural lump royal oak. This was a mistake it burned out in the middle of the night. The lumps will usually give me 16 hrs at 200 or so this didn't give me 12. Just thought I would share keep up the good content!!!

When are you going to post a brisket cook and how to do it?
@BigLewBBQ
@BigLewBBQ 4 жыл бұрын
Willis Ontjes the easy answer is, when I buy a brisket. The tougher answer is as soon as I get a chance. I’m a school teacher, January is a very busy time for me, and so is May. If I have time around Madi Gras break or Spring Break I’ll do it. If not it will be this summer. I have lots of time to cook and make videos in June and July. Thanks for watching.
