Actually he does. Hollyleaf murdered him and he was overly salty about Squirrelflight using him to make Brambleclaw/star jealous. And he tried to burn "her" children. And if he possesses Bramblestar then he has a chance to be with Squirrelflight because i think he was upset when rocks crushed her and her sister but she didn't die so he didn't have another chance with her in Starclan. So why not possess the one she loves most and pretend to be him?

Spotfur's mother is Cinderheart whose father is Brackenfur whose brother is Thornclaw whose son is Stemleaf. As for Bristlefrost and Stemleaf, Stemleaf's father is Thornclaw whose sister is Brightheart whose granddaughter is Ivypool whose daughter is Bristlefrost. Finally for Bristlefrost and Spotfur (just for the fun of it) Bristlefrost's grandmother is Whitewing whose mother is Brightheart whose brother is Brackenfur whose daughter is Cinderheart whose daughter is Spotfur. So these three are all related through Thornclaw, Brightheart and Brackenfur being siblings with one being the great-grandparent, one being the grandparent and one being the parent which is, when you think about it kinda creepy
