I moved down from Leeds to Weston-super-Mare as a teenager and went along a few times with school pals to Ashton Gate. Was at the game in 1990 when BCFC won promotion against Walsall and when they knocked Chelsea out of the Cup. Both occaisions I got a lot of stick (and not banter) off groups of grown fellas due to the Yorkshire accent I still had at the time. Never ever seen grown men have a pop at kids at Elland Road (a place where BCFC only took a tiny number of fans by the way)

Doesn't look like much trouble really. Just a little tension. That always helps to build an atmosphere, but I'm sure that most people would've had more fun out of this if there were no barriers or police presency.

For the Bristol City lads that came to greet us after the game at the away end, fair play for having a go. You took a walloping, but stood your ground and didn't run until plod got involved the break it up. Was a good away day in the pub before and after the games for the action.

I come from south bristol and was a regular at Bristol City in the late 60;s to early 80;s.In that time leeds visited four times in those days your following was less than a thousaund and was well behaved and were given a hiding each time leeds visited.Now you have a larger present when you come to places like bristol city people become braver amongst larger numbers so leeds fans charge a segregated area knowing full well nothing would happen.

@@samhill487can’t remember Leeds ever taking the East End but always had huge numbers in the Open end. Didn’t see Arsenal but heard about it as I missed that game. I clearly remember Tottenham taking the East End and very quickly, Ugly sods too, but to be fair to them, they only went for the Eastenders and left the kids like me (there to watch football ) be. There were a lot of City bad asses in the Park End that day, could have been the reason (or excuse). Much earlier (mid to late 60’s) I remember Oxford United taking the East end one day that most of the Eastenders didn’t bother turning up.
