To isolate little speakers, use double yellow dot squash balls cut in half. So you'll need four balls, about ten quid. Actually pretty good at isolating anything.

Quite right streamers have made listening to music easy / lazy , apart from that streaming for me opens up a larger listening platform from across the world, listening to new music that I’d never would of come across , then i can decide if to buy the CD or LP , for £10 a month sound quality is V good , all the formats have there +& - all depends on the recordings . Having A turntable/ CD player & Streamer works hand in hand for myself . Thanks for another great video .

I have a streaming subscription with Qobuz and like yourself, if I like an album, I will purchase it. The difference is that I buy a download version, which automatically downloads to my server. The main reason I changed from physical media is because I ran out of storage space despite several purges of CD’s that I no longer listened to. I still have around 450 CD’s but have imported the contents to my server.

Yes I would recommend the isoacoustics range. I originally bought some of the Orea pucks to try under my turntable because the rubbers on the existing feet had degraded and I suspected they might be the culprit. They were. I then went on and fitted Gia feet which neatly bolted into the plinth bolt-holes and were more convenient. I now use Orea pucks under my phono stage shelf and under my server/streamer. The Gia feet are really designed for floorstanders and the beauty of them is you can choose between M8 and M6 fittings.

Thanks. Great video. I was hesitant to get subs myself. Especially in my 12x12x8 ft room. But after getting 2 REL T Zero MkIII subs. I could never go back to regular 2 channel again. And they integrated very easily. About 5 min to dial them in actually. But that’s why I went with REL. And why I didn’t get big huge subs either. It’s important to consider the room size IMO. ✌️

I've got the isoacoustics pucks under my standmount speakers and their isolation platforms under my turntable and CD transport - great products, so recommend you give them a go Phil.
@rich.e10 ай бұрын
Same, I have 8 of the smallest pucks under my standmounts; gave a performance lift plus I live in a flat so helped with the aim to be neighbour-friendly. I'd read a review where the writer said they weren't far behind the Gaia feet in performance but far cheaper; that made the pucks a no-brainer for me at 8 for 80 quid.

B&W DM4 Speakers used Coles Super Tweeters, as did the BC1s. You are right about Sub Woofer/ Harmonics, they definitely affect the midrange.
@malcolmmartin289210 ай бұрын
Supertweeters do work in an inexplicable manner. For some time I used Tannoy ST-50s in conjunction with Tannoy D-300 floorstanders and it wasn't just the upper frequencies that were enhanced as bass performance was also improved.
@andrewlittleboy853210 ай бұрын
I’ve only heard a demo of one pair of super tweeters at work, I’m pretty sure they were Tannoy. It was quite surprising but they definitely added something to the sound.

Great to meet you on the Sunday Phil. Hope you didn't think i was a bit mad ( just a little star struck!) I couldn't agree with you more, far too much reliance on cds and streaming! Even Harley of Pearl Acoustics was using ripped cds to show off the Sibelus. The Linn speakers sounded completely shite to us. The rega speakers were awful too. Rogers stole the show for us.. the sound was amazing for the size.

Saw a few turntables around the show; the nice chaps on the Chord Electronics stand let me unwrap and play my new copy of A Light For Attracting Attention on their Planar 8-fronted desktop system. Audio Note had their turntable playing on their small system and another brand (PMC maybe?) were using a Michell Gyro SE but overall streaming was definitely in the ascendancy.

Spendor BD1 had a Coles supertweeter - I've heard modern supertweeters and I agree that they do something which, to me, sounds like adding an 'airyness' to the sound
@kevinsheppard608510 ай бұрын
I remember reading that super tweeters whilst playing higher than humans can hear affect by intermodulation of the sound band that we actually hear, this makes treble sound more airy and clear to us. To be fair I have no experiance but remember someone explaning this with a chart and it seemed to make sense.

Hey I have an LP12 and Uphorik phonostage and sometimes with some records it's better than my digital source with the same song/recording, especially the difference is noticeable between streaming and local NAS files and CDs, but sometimes it's the digital source that sounds better, especially when it comes to clarity and dynamics with acoustic instruments. I don't have a general preference in other words, it all depends on the track/file, except that generally local NAS files and CDs are better than when streaming.
@bw882710 ай бұрын
Love your content Phil but surely you could run to a better camera ? That aside, keep it coming. Also, totally agree with your Linn comment. They seem obsessed with detail and resolution, yet end up leaving the music behind. Their kit is more sterile than an operating theatre, apart from the LP12, and they want you to fork out £150k + to kill every ounce of emotion and musicality. I can also recommend the IsoAcoustics Aperta speaker stands. I've had them for a number of months in my bedroom system and they work really well. The 155 model will support most bookshelf speakers and sell for £199, so not mega expensive. They also do a plastic composite version for £100.
@andrewlittleboy853210 ай бұрын
I agree. The electronics do nothing for me which quite the polar opposite of my LP12 that never fails to engage with me the emotion and foot tapping ability like no other TT I’ve owned and I’ve had a fair few.

Me and my son visited the Linn room just after the show opened on Sunday and the demo man said they were using their room correction system with all the room size and temperature fed into the system, but the system had ''corrected'' the sound to what the room temperature would be like in a couple of hours time, my son lent over to me and said '' does that mean it's going to sound crap now, I had to laugh. They did have an LP12 that probably cost more than I would pay for a car and it was used but the main demo was streamed, the LP12 demo man was introduced as the person who was still interested in the old fashioned way of reproducing music. At this point we left, Also we both thought the show leaned heavily towards the high end, all in all a disappointment.
