Bristol Type 192 Belvedere

The Bristol Type 192 Belvedere is a British twin-engine, tandem rotor military helicopter built by the Bristol Aeroplane Company. It was designed for a variety of transport roles including troop transport, supply dropping and casualty evacuation. It was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1961 to 1969.

A Royal Navy Lynx came down in Kenya, late 80s, early 90s. The cause of the crash was when the sliding door was opened it slid off its track and went into the tail rotor.

As a young child I saw one of these crash at the Filton airshow in about 1955 - 56, I was later told the cause was prop wash and turbulence from a large transport plane that had just flown over.

That is Battersea Power Station to the south of the Thames and London heliport aka Battersea heliport, at that time owned by Westland and called Westland Heliport. See 0:12.

mike rogers - Battersea Power Station is NOT The Tate Modern, that is the former BANKSIDE Power Station (Google it). Battersea Power Station is at the time of writing being converted into luxury flats.

Can you imagine if this would've be invested in by the government and MOD, and used to build upon a twin rotor helicopter that would've easily matched or even surpassed the Chinook. Britain needs to but British and invest in Britain where it can, and if we didn't make something we need, then government should create along with private industry to start up a company to build that product, machine, weapon, only buy from allies as an interim solution until we build our own.
