It's understandable that Lisa is strict because she had a hard training when she was still a trainee in YG. YG artists are the most scary mentors especially Hoony, GD, B.I and now Lisa. Just like what Jinu said, the training in YG is like a survival show without a camera. So, no wonder why they are so scary because they wanted to apply it to the trainees to become better.

@khalyahantimo2014 жыл бұрын
exactly. it would be a completely different story if she was like "are you dumb? why r you not doing this correctly" and only insulted them instead of helping them improve.. but thats not what she did. at all. she gave GOOD constructive criticism and helped the trainees fix their parts. as someone who does dance, i went to some studios where the some of the instructors were too scared to sound "rude" so they didnt nitpick or point out anyone's mistakes. and honestly u cant grow as a dancer or as an artist without that feedback. now, my instructors will do what lisa is doing, and it works. idk man i just hope people get their heads out of the asses and look at it from a dancers perspective.

This is YG training. They are perfectionists. Starting from YG himself to everyone. Like GD said " if it is just about putting out music, then can do that every week if they want to. But, in YG it is about the perfect music at the perfect time. Everything must be perfect." That is the YG way and that is why their artists comebacks take the longest. As an old school YG stan, that is the first thing you will learn, is to be patient because once they have a comeback it will blow your mind.

I don't understand why it shocks so many people that Lisa is strict in practically 4 years of career she never made any missteps. She has always been perfect in all areas. Lisa has always been the most smiling and it's not because she's necessarily happy it's just professionalism. So it doesn't surprise me that she is a perfectionist and she must surely be very hard with herself just to see her journey since she is young she has always given herself thoroughly. She always pushes her limits to be the best. A truly admirable journey, the first on 4000 in auditions in Thailand after she arrives in a foreign country where she is trained by the best teachers in one of the strictest agencies, knowing that in addition she did not know how to speak Korean at all she had to adapt to learn as quickly as possible and despite everything as Jennie said in an interview that when she was trained "Lisa always got an A for everything", it simply means that Lisa was always at the top of their monthly evaluations, whether it was dancing, rapping , compose or sing. She is truly incredible, she is not human.

I feel like people forget that just because she’s an idol, she’s been dancing for a long time and is completely qualified to be a dance mentor. That’s why she’s on the show doing what she’s doing. I’m actually not seeing anything really harsh. She’s teaching them how to translate what you see to what your body is doing. She’s showing them dedication, how to push themselves, to keep going, and how to feel the music. If you’re not feeling it, it’s not going to look good. In the end, she’s going to have helped their confidence tremendously.

I don´t think that is entirely correct. I believe that the way you teach should vary according to the students you have. sometimes being "tough" as a coach can actually crush your students' personalities and self-esteem. A bad face or a rough tone definitely has an influence that is not always positive
@hushhushyou4 жыл бұрын
Jess Mansilla While I agree that there are different methods that may work better depending on the student’s learning style, that kind of practice is better suited for a more lax environment - such as weekly classes you are paying to take. It is not suitable for competitions or idol training such as this. The industry will not hold your hand if you do not get it. That is why mentors, such as Lisa, teach the way they do. The idol industry is cut throat and it’s all about time & money - they can’t afford to adapt their teaching to fit each individual trainee. So, yes you are right, maybe that trainee could’ve excelled better if Lisa was afforded the time to help her in different way. But since this is a competition show, it just doesn’t make sense to adapt to a different method for ONE person. It’s a business at the end of the day and that kind of teaching takes time so it would be costly considering Lisa is getting paid for her time there.
@jessijanett4 жыл бұрын
@@hushhushyou I just consider that this rough treatment is something that we as mere viewers have also complain about it when it's used with idols. We have seen that this much pressure with tough words can lead to terrible consequences. I think that this was a really nice chance to prove that there are other ways to improve your students performance even in the context of a competition. Despite my believes I do not want my words to be seen has me hating Lisa, for it is not the case.
@hushhushyou4 жыл бұрын
Jess Mansilla I totally understand! I do not think Lisa was out of line with her teaching, but I can see how it could be perceived negatively. But I think you are fair to express the harshness of the idol industry - it’s unforgiving. I also don’t think you were hating on Lisa, so no worries :)

The trainees are divided in rankings from letters A to F. You can tell that she is more stricter with specific rank groups, cause their skills are weaker compared to the others. Lisa is good example of a great coach who cares about her craft, and her trainees, what they do reflects on her coaching. The trainees and Lisa's reputation are on the line. Especially if she wants to be a successful instructor in the future.

For those that said she's nitpicking about the smile, it's a poppy/ happy vibe song, why tf would u be dancing to songs like that with a poker face. Lisa's just trying to get her to perform according to the songs.

Everyone who's saying she isn't strict, she is. You know she is. That's her job, that's her values, that's her discipline. Absolutely nothing wrong about a mentor being strict with the intentions to improve their mentees.

She’s so much like my basketball coach it’s crazy. I miss basketball the tough love always motivated me. Yk how many times my coach has told me “what’s wrong with you”. Lisa’s coaching was really good 👏🏻

I honestly think Lisa wasn’t that strict. I’ve watched some other shows where chinese idols were way more strict. I personally think all the judges in this survival show is a bit easy on them. Like straight of the bat, most were placed in D and F’s. And in this show many were actually in B and C’s.

Lisa's always pays attention to all the details when she's performing and never lacks facial expressions or energy so she's teaching them to be their best and I liked your reaction, it's the same as us, we never seen her like this, since she's always smiling, but now I see that off stage it included a lot of time and effort for her to be always confident while performing.

lisa already has an expectation to them...those trainess came from different companys.. and being trained for years others 5 to 8 years training.. and some of them are actress rappers and models.. so expectation was there...and they need to put more effort cause that was a competition... they just have to choose the best girls to become a idol group in the future in china.. she need to be tough not to be sweethtalks all the time..

This is from a TV show called "Youth with you" when they train 100 or 106 girls or boys, on this season girls and the previous name was "idol producer". At the end, citizens choose 9 of them to form a group. If you would like to see more of Lisa you can look for youth with you Lisa. She also showed two dances on the show.

If people complain about mentor Lisa being tough, imagine what she went through as a YG trainee for years.

I’ve been binge watching this show for 2 days now. Was not expecting it to be so amazing, better than all the English competition shows

If she is being nice, and haters will say “she’s too weak for train them” “why they choose lisa, she can’t train them well” and bla bla bla She and her teammates (jisoo jennie rose) on her spot rn, bcz of the hard and painful training, they had to push themselves away from their expectations. So haters, stay away from her, she know what she’s doing, she became a trainee for 5-6 years before debuting as an idol.

Yes, eventually some of these girls will debut in a temporary promotional group similar to X1, and IOI. Youth With You is an audition survival show. The dance that they are learning is this shows theme song dance.

3:10 Exactly, like Im in band, and while I was watching this I was like, if that was me years ago, I probably wouldve balled up and cried, but being in band showed me that at the end of the day, you just gotta take it like a champ, suck it up, improve and come back out of it better than you did before

I love your reactions, how you understand Lisa and what it means to be a coach. I was drilled too and like you said, it was hard but with good intentions and it made me the woman I am today. I can look back and appreciate my drill instructors. And yeah when one of us messed up, we all had to do it again and more. I like this side of Lisa, she really cares about her trainees. I don't think this side of her comes easy to her, but she becomes this person because she genuinely cares.

This was like this with anyone if you mess up especially when I was in dance class. I had to push myself doing the simple details a lot and the more notable details by memory. You have to take criticism seriously so you don't fail in the long run. I love this about Lisa cause she reminded me of my dance teacher saying "more feeling" or getting up to show you the right movements
