I grew up watching In Living Color. Jim Carrey was also a cast member and his Fire Marshall Bill character is hysterical.

My fave Jim Carrey character was Vera de Milo, especially the 'Veracosa: Mistress of Destruction' skit. Other In Living Color faves you should check out: Homey D. Clown and Jamie Foxx as Wanda Wayne. It was a great show!

Every "Men on.." skit is great. The gay bars used to be packed when they came on and people had a grand time laughing at all the jokes; no gay person was ever offended by these two and many still watch these clips repeatedly.

Fun fact: This aired live during the Super Bowl halftime. Most people watching the game turned to Fox to watch this and that's why we have the super big super bowl halftime show. It was thanks to this very bit. This aired in 1992.

I only discovered the awesome comedy greatness of ILC around 3 years ago, and the Men On series of skits featuring Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier is really one of the show's crown jewels, they are wonderfully outrageous and hilarious! :) Your great reaction was laughter inducing in and of itself, and it made watching this classic skit even more fun. 😊Would love to see you reacting to some more of the Men On series, and other classic ILC skits. This was done live and I'm sure that the TV censor people were having a stroke.😮😅 In today's world, this wouldn't have even been tabled as an idea.😂 Overall it's not the best one of the series in my opinion. The fun factor would have been watching the reaction of the censor police as they watched it.😁

@firefighterchick. You are totally correct, it would not get tabled now and the censors must have hated it. See you later

Yes, I'm reasonably confident I saw much funnier sketches on "In Living Color". Was it _really_ near censorship? I was a teenager in the 70s. Innuendo was already pretty 'old' by then from earlier TV series (eg Frankie Howerd in "Up Pompeii!"), gay comedian Larry Greyson ("Shut That Door!"), drag-act Danny La Rue, radio series featuring Kenneth Williams (eg "Round the Horne") and British film franchise "Carry on ...". By the 1990s, UK comedy was parodying, or 'paying hommage' to, 60s/70s comedy. For example, _The Understanding Barman - A Bit of Fry and Laurie - BBC_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2nOoGWkeNCSnqc is a 90s reference to 1976 _The Two Ronnies - Four Candles_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnTQkn-drbF3e5I which is brilliant word play. If you haven't seen either, I strongly recommend watching both, with The Two Ronnies "Four Candles" first. So, 1990s gay-innuendo sketches seem several decades late to my comedy sensibilities. Best Wishes. ☮ It is a sad state when mostly-inoffensive 20th century comedy is believed to be impossible today. There was some dreadful racist, misogynistic, anti-'alternatives' comedy in the 20th century which is only good as historical records for how awful societies were for some people. But when we can't laugh at ourselves, we are losing perspective. There are subjects which need examining, and comedy is a powerful sociological microscope. To be fair, I've always found US audience reaction much more dramatic (unrealistically exaggerated?), compared to UK audiences. I have never understood why US audiences seem to "loose their sh!t" over sexual innuendo. For example, there is a UK sitcom from the '70s called "Are you being served?" aired in the USA. My chum Tonni finds Mrs Slocombe's innuendo-laden references to "her pussy" drop-dead-funny every time. They're funny the first few series, but not forever.

@BritPopsReact it's a very funny comedy that was aired in the 90s. This is just a compilation of scenes in the Nanny between Niles (who character is a British butler, but he's not a real British but that his role to talk like he is British and while Miss CC Babcock is the older blonde woman who wants to get frisky with Mr.Maxwell Shiefield who really speaks British English. Niles The butler and CC Babcock can't stand each other, lol. If you do find the Nanny Funny, I can and will suggest more episodes or compilation scenes of the Nanny for you guys soon

I thought there were a few jokes, but not as many as I'd expected. I think I got 'Living Color' on cable in the 90s, and I thought it was much funnier, more jokes/minute. Not as witty or subversive as someone like Julian Clary, or Kenneth Williams a generation earlier. Oh, well, we can't win 'em all! 🤔 Best Wishes. ☮

@@BritPopsReact @BritPopsReact I remember Jim Carrey, the Wayans brothers, and Jamie Foxx. But not many episodes. I distinctly remember Jamie Foxx's "Wanda" character, but who could forget her? 🤔 I lived in an area covered by "Coventry Cable" ① (eventually bought by Virgin Media). It was one of the first cable companies in the UK. So it might have been that. However, it is possible I saw "In Living Colour" on US TV. I probably averaged a month or so each year in the USA during the 90s, divided between work and holidays. During my work visits I'd watch a sadly large amount of cable/satellite TV in the hotel, especially at weekends. That might explain why I only remember a few episodes. My recollections are "In Living Colour" sketches were hit or miss for me. Sometimes very funny, and sometimes exactly-not. Best Wishes, Chaps. ☮ G-Man 😎 ① "Coventry Cable" started with quite a lot of 'fanfare' in the late '80s. It was an early test-stage of a national plan to 'cable-up' the UK (but satellite TV happened). A couple of friends got it fairly early, but I took a couple of years to crack. We'd go to their houses and binge on MTV and US TV shows. One of the biggest attractions of ""Coventry Cable" for me was "The Simpsons". Long ramble follows: _I first saw "The Simpsons" on TV in a hotel bar in MA on a business trip. It was after work, I was meeting a guy called Mike from CAD company "Computer Vision". "The Simpsons" episode included the brilliant "Let me help you dry those tears" scene ②. It was the funniest US sitcom I'd ever seen. I asked Mike what it was, and he told me. He said it had started as part of the Tracey Ullman show ③. I told my be-cabled friends about "The Simpsons", and it was on Coventry Cable (on Sky)! So it became a weekly event to watch at their places. That caused me to eventually get cable too._ ② "The Simpsons" episode I saw must have been a repeat, because (I've just checked), it was Series 1 Episode 5, which was originally broadcast in 1989, but my first trip to the USA was summer 1990. ③ I remembered Tracey Ullman from sketch comedy series and a sitcom, and vaguely remembered she'd gone to the USA to work. Wikipedia: _Her earliest mainstream appearances were on British television sketch comedy shows "A Kick Up the Eighties" (with Rik Mayall and Miriam Margolyes) and "Three of a Kind" (with Lenny Henry and David Copperfield). ...., she appeared as Candice Valentine in "Girls on Top" with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders [and Ruby Wax]._
