Touchdowns are worth six points. A kick after a touchdown is worth one point. If you do a field goal without scoring a touchdown, that is worth three points.

I kind of wish the video showed the crowd storming the field. College football is insane. I hope you do more reactions.

There’s a really great video for Europeans that explains football simply and compares certain teams and such to European football and it may help in understanding the game I think it’s called “clueless Europeans guide to understanding football”

I absolutely loved this reaction. Your confusion added an incredible level of authenticity and originality to the reaction. I love how you genuinely wanted to learn, and also, even though you didn’t necessarily know what was going on at all times, you still tried to work it out, and you talked it out for us on Camera. That was incredibly enjoyable for me, and I’m sure that was enjoyable for many others as well. Keep this coming and you’ll understand this just fine in no time at all.

He almost intercepted their near the end, but it was still a good play, because he knocked it away from the receiver, so he preserved the lead for his team. Even though he couldn’t complete the interception and keep possession of the football, by him getting a hand on it he prevented the LSU player from catching it and potentially scoring the game-winning touchdown. That’s why he was still celebrating.

The reason why the penalty was declined, was because the offenses scored a touchdown anyway. Since the foul was on the defense, if the offense had excepted it, the touchdown would’ve been wiped away, and they would’ve just been given a fresh set of downs to work with. There’s no reason to except the penalty when you scored.

Crowd on hand for this game was the largest crowd in the history of that stadium, 66,703. That's more than twice the population of the town Ole Miss calls home, Oxford, MS. This was also the largest crowd for a sporting event in the state of Mississippi. This was a battle of 2 of the most prolific offenses in college football this season (at the time this game was played). I'm just glad the game was over before I got to work since I work for Ole Miss. Traffic was a nightmare

LSU is Louisiana state university. It’s located in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Ole Miss is the University of Mississippi located in Oxford Mississippi.

Long story short: A touchdown is 6 points, giving you an option for a 1 point extra kick (the safe option), or a 2 point play called a "2 point conversion" from the 2-yard line (riskier). One team attempted a 2 point conversion near the end of the game that was unsuccessful. Interceptions or fumbles where the defense recovers the ball means that the other team takes over possession of the ball.

In a football game the total time of play is 60 minutes. It’s broken up into four different 15 minute quarters. There is a 12 minute halftime Between the second and third quarter.

When offensive player loses the ball it’s called a fumble if the defender gets the ball they gain possession and if offense gets the fumble they keep possession

If a pass thrown by the offense is intercepted, or the ball is fumbled by a runner or receiver both teams can attempt to recover the football. The team that recovers the football gets possession of the football at the place where it is recovered. If the defense recovers the football as long as they’re knee, does not touch the ground, they can run the football in the opposite direction to try and score. If they are tackled before they return it for a touchdown, they will get to continue their possession from the place where they were tackled.

LSU stands for Louisiana State University, nicknamed the Fighting Tigers. Ole Miss is the University of Mississippi nicknamed the Rebels. Both schools are in the Southeastern Conference. A touchdown is worth 6 points, and you must only break the invisible plane of the goal line to score. After a touchdown, the scoring team has the option for a 1-point or 2-point conversion. If you kick the ball between the uprights, it's 1 point. Run or pass the ball into the end zone , rather than kick, you gain 2 points A field goal, kicking te ball between the uprights from anywhere on the field, is 3 points. If you tackle an opponent with the ball in the end zone they're guarding, it's called a "safety" and is worth 1 point. Highlight clips almost never show the converstion after touchdown.

Also, there are 7 officials on the field for college and NFL games, each with a specific position on the field and specific responsibilities. The 7 officials are: Referee, Umpire, Head Linesman, Line Judge, Field Judge, Back Judge, and Side Judge. The Referee is the chief official, and makes the final decsion on calls.

Anytime they reach the end zone which is the end of the field where the score is worth 6 points then they have to either kick the ball for an extra point or they can elect to go for two, when they kick the ball through the posts without scoring a touchdown its called a field goal and it’s always worth 3 points

Don’t worry. Once you catch on to the basics of football, the rest will come pretty easily. There’s still certain aspects of football that lifelong fans of football don’t completely understand. As long as you get the basic concepts, you will eventually start to learn the other little quirks That make the game incredibly unique. Take your time and don’t feel embarrassed. There’s a whole comment section full of people who are more than happy to help teach you anything you want to know about the sport. Take it at your own pace, and enjoy the journey.

Simple explanation. The team with possession of the ball (offense) has four plays (downs) to go 10 yards. If they move the ball 10 yards they get a new set of four plays (downs) to try and go another ten yards, and so on, until they get in the end zone and score. But they really only get three plays (downs) to go the 10 yards because if they don't make it ten yards in three downs, they have to use their fourth down to kick the ball downfield or the other team would get the ball right there to start their set of four downs, going the other way. If they didn't move the ball ten yards, the offense uses the fourth down to kick the ball and make the other team start their possession of the ball from farther away. So when you hear the announcer say it's "second and seven", he means it is the second down (play) and they need to get seven yards to start the four plays over. "Third and three", for example, means it is the third down and they need three yards to start the downs over (get a new first down).. If the offense gets more than the ten yards they needed but they don't get in the end zone, they get a new set of four downs from where they get tackled. It is a new "first down" from where they got tackled. If a team gets into the end zone during their sets of downs, it is a "touchdown" and is six points. They then kick a "point after" (by kicking the ball between the upright posts of the goal post) to make it seven points total. If a team gets close to the end zone in their set(s) of downs, but not actually into the end zone and they get to fourth down, rather than try and get a new set of downs or get into the end zone for a touchdown, they can try and kick a "field goal" as opposed to trying to get a touchdown on their fourth down play. This means their kicker kicks the ball from where they are, between the upright posts of the "goal post" in the end zone. This counts for 3 points and the other team takes over possession of the ball. So the game is really the offense trying to continually move the ball down the field ten yards at a time and the defense trying to prevent them from moving the ball ten yards in three plays.

On the scoreboard, the distance is not a factor for how many points you get. Each different method of scoring is worth the set number of points, whether it’s from 2 yards out, 20 yards out, or 85 yards away. The only time the distance really makes a difference is when you’re playing fantasy football, but obviously the players on the field don’t really care about that.

15:08 It was declined because the offense made a TD. The Foul was made by the defense. If they'd accepted the foul (penalty), then the TD would not count. They'd still get an opportunity to try to make a TD, but why do that when they've already made the TD.

the "interception" at the end was actually a MISSED interception because he didn't catch the ball. It hit his chest and bounced out. If he had caught it, there would be no points awarded but a change of possession would happen and Ole Miss would have had the ball and run a kneel down to end the game.

Most of the stoppages are due to injury. More or less injuries are not extremely significant, it’s mostly just getting the breath Knocked out of someone and they need a few seconds to get back up. Extremely severe injuries Ken and do happen a few times a year though. I would dare say that makes up 60% of your stoppages. The only other time the clock really stops is at the two minute warning for a designated commercial break, when a coach takes a time out, or when your play is being reviewed or there is a foul on the play and they need to stop the clock to announce what the foul is.

Actually most of the stoppages are for advertising breaks since the games are mostly all televised. Good ole American capitalism. Lol. If you watch a regular high school football ball game or college game that’s not being televised you will see American football in its purest form. Only short stops between downs and stops for injuries and change of quarters. Flows much better.

Great video on a great game! Love to see people trying to learn American football. If you want to do this as regular content, you might try to do a react video where you watch a video explaining the rules. American football is VERY complicated. Just grasping all of the basic rules of how the game works is difficult, but the way the game is played is basically a chess match between the coaches, in a way.

A touchdown is worth six points the kick after a touchdown also known as the extra point is worth one point which usually results in seven points after a drive, but if you cannot score a touchdown or gain a first down and three tries then you must either kick a punt to the other team go for it and try to get the first down on fourth down which either results in you keeping the ball and the downs start over or the other team gets the ball where you went from it at or you can kick a field goal which equals three points

Towards the end, they declined the penalty because they scored a touchdown. The specific penalty that was called on LSU was illegal substitution. The reward to Ole Miss would have been 5 yards and replaying the down. There was no point accepting the penalty because they already scored points.

They declined the penalty on that touchdown because if they accept it, they just move closer and replay the down but they scored a touchdown so if they would have accepted it, the touchdown would not have counted and they would’ve had to try again. They just would’ve been closer so of course you take the points.

Great reaction!! Let me try to explain why that penalty was declined. LSU was penalized for "illegal substitution", which means they had too many players on the field. Ole Miss scored a touchdown, so they didn't need the penalty. I hope I didn't confuse you.

Yeah, your first 2 lines are actually very false. The University's nickname -- Ole Miss -- became part of University 100 years ago, in 1896, when it was selected in a contest held to identify a new student publication, the yearbook. It was suggested by the late Miss Elma Meek of Oxford. As for the name REBELS, The name REBELS as Ole Miss' official athletics nickname emerged in 1936. Suggested by Judge Ben Guider of Vicksburg, it was one of five entries submitted to Southern sports writers for final selection from a list totaling more than 200 proposed nicknames. The promotion was a contest sponsored by The Mississippian, student newspaper. Of the 42 newsmen contacted, 21 responded. "Rebels" was the choice of 18. The University Athletic Committee made the name official with the Committee chairman, the late Judge William Hemingway, stating: "If 18 sports writers wish to use 'Rebels', I shall not rebel, so let it go 'Ole Miss Rebels.'" It has NOTHING to do with a rebellious attitude towards anything nor did it play any part what so ever in starting the Civil War.
