I think the most common thing people cross state lines to do legally, is buy fireworks. That's not the one you hear about all the time, but a *lot* of people do it. (This is partly because a lot of states have a weird rule where it's legal to buy and sell fireworks as long as the buyer promises to take them outside the state to use them; so stores that sell them tend to be along major highways and very close to state lines and advertised with huge billboards.) There are jungle areas on some of the less-populated islands in Hawaii. Nothing approaching the size of the jungles in Africa and South America, granted. We also don't have anything like the Dry Valleys, but no country does; that area is truly unique.

Amazed how much Geography Now was able to cover so much in a limited time considering you have plenty of states that are bigger than many countries around the world. Very touching dedication imo and a good rough start to help those learn more about the USA. As for Paul’s background, I think his mother is South Korean. Also, to us the UK is not an underdog, nor do we see us as the big dog, we prefer to see the two countries equal with their own value and differences that end up pushing each other to be a better version of ourselves. To be honest, never understood how the Brits get flack as if we boss the UK around cause I tend to think that the UK is so close to us that their opinion tends to hold the most weight in certain foreign affairs. Does that mean we always listen? Perhaps not. Yet the Brits have a special place to had that chat without it feeling like it’s crossed a line, which is ironic considering the history of the country. I think that while there are some who play the bitter and resentful ness, the two countries faced so much together as separate countries it was united in fascination with each other while remember that our past also shares the common ties between each other that reignites the feeling of family. It’s understandable that the Brits have probably felt the influence from us, but the same can be said of how much we too have been inspired by the Brits. From cultural to even our justice system has those ties that goes back to the origins placed in the UK. We might be powerful, but we have moments when we look up to the Brits, we might not be a fan of some history but there’s so many positive attributes that the Brits have brought that have earned our respects. I think you should check out Geography Now’s UK video as it’s just as lengthy and perhaps it will give that detail of recognition that could explain more of why we Americans, and many around the world, are just as interested in your country, the culture and history it has. Further proving the point we’ve learned to appreciate and value the differences we have in this dear relationship the two countries have.

I have to agree that the most amazing thing to see here is actually the sky. The sunrises and sunsets can't be beat and when it storms the cloud formations and tornadoes are breathtaking. Other than that it is just very dry with cactuses and shrubs. Spring is when the landscape is the most beautiful because then a lot of flowers bloom. Many don't like it here due to the lack of trees but it has its own rugged beauty. Definitely not as beautiful as the Appalachian mountain area or California but I love it here anyways.

SOOOOO....about the airports. Atlanta and Dallas are far enough south they see essentially no snow or freezing temperatures, so they have less obstacles than New York and Chicago. Denver being in the mountains is perpetually lost in winter land essentially. The summers do get warm but up high it stays snowy. The reasons for the high volume at these locations makes sense if you look deeper. 1) Denver Colorado: The Rockies is the most sought after attraction in the United States. Not oy is it the most massive mountain range you can find...it's got year round skiing, tons of resorts, and of course it's nearby suburb Vail is world renowned. 2) Dallas Ft Worth: Texas is big. In fact it's got 5 of the top 20 largest cities in America in it's own borders. Because of the amount of oil, cattle, and industry work there...travel is nearly constant just from professional sorts. Add in the fact that Texas is the biggest and most central hub for the American southwest it makes sense this would be a likely starting point for tourists looking to tour the state, the southwest, the grand canyon, etc. 3)Atlanta, Georgia. This is specifically because Atlanta happens to be relatively equidistant to the nations capitol and Florida's southern point. Case in point ...if your destination is anywhere in the southeast, Atlanta is your starting point. Given the massive amount of tourism into Florida for the keys, Disney world, the everglades etc ...Atlanta has often become the next best destination when seats all the way into Florida are sold out. In any event weather just delays us....unless it's a hurricane or severe blizzard we just keep on going.

In my state fireworks became illegal about a decade ago, so for a while people went to the next state over to buy them, now you can still buy fireworks because people operate out of tents, and the police don't really enforce the law against them.

Lacrosse doesn't have a big high-paying audience largely because until fairly recently, it was primarily played by American equiv posh kids or by the Native American tribes that originated the game.

Having grown up in Florida, yes, you see gators quite a lot. Not at the beaches, but in the rivers and canals, for sure, and at times, crossing the roads or even hanging out in someone's backyard swimming pool. They're kind of everywhere.

The airports are the busiest because those are the ones where more people have to change planes to pick up the next part of the journey.

A lot of the British Mexican food would actual be the British interpretation of Tex mex. Because you won’t find things like fajitas are Tex mex. Even burrito’s are mostly in northern Mexico. The burrito bowl, burritos with rice and cheese and a ton of fillings and huge wet burritos are a Tex mex invention. Quesadillas that use corn tortillas and white cheese are authentic Mexican, but flour tortillas and tons of fillings are Tex Mex. It’s also important to note, that Tex Mex was created by Mexican immigrants to the USA. As is the case with american Chinese, German, Italian, French etc. the American versions of the cuisines were brought over and adapted by immigrants from those countries.

If you want to know more about the American burger check out videos of Louis' lunch. They have been open over 120 years and claim to be the first restaurant to serve a burger in the United States. They still use the same equipment.

The first drive through was I believe in Arizona and a McDonalds because there where military base near by! The Military guys couldn’t go in while wearing their uniforms, so McDonalds put in a drive through!
@pollypocket3508 Жыл бұрын
I thought it was because military members couldn't get out of their car off base if they were in their uniform, and that was why/when drive-thrus were invented.

47:11 lol. Spain is literally a Hispanic country. So yes, there are many Hispanics living in European countries. Remember this: all Hispanics are Latino, but not all Latinos are Hispanic. Hispanic: Person from Spain, or have ancestors or descendants from Spain (Hispania.) Latino: Any country or person speaking a language derived from the Latin language, Spanish Speakers being the most largest of any Latino language.

the US started with the thirteen colonies along the East coast. Overtime, the US government kept expanding westward. The great plains which take up the bulk of the midwest(pretty much middle USA) had little to offer other than farmland due to the constant tornadoes happening there. This was also territory of nomadic native American tribes. Over time though, the west was conquered. The period known as the "wild west" was named that solely because the land was unconquered and there were bandits aplenty. The romanticization of the wild west happened in the late 19th century when they put wild outlaws and their stories into the limelight. By the early 20th century, the wild west had pretty much been conquered. Nowadays though the romanticization of that period has been replaced by more contemporary works that establish that the wild west was tamed with blood and iron and that it was inherently genocidal towards the Native Americans. My particular favorite is "Blood Meridian" by Cormac McCarthy. I drank a lot of caffeine I'm all loopy

The value of the dollar is more complicated. In fact when a country's currency is commonly used elsewhere it would increase the value of.the dollar. However, especially in recent years the United States has deflated the value of the dollar through excess borrowing and inflation.

Alligators aren't that scary on land. They're so top heavy that they get really dizzy and fall over if they try to change direction quickly, so if an alligator chases you on land, just run in a zigzag and it'll not be a threat. Alligators in the water on the other hand...
