Given the US army published their own video game called "Americas Army" in the early 2000s it is not even a stretch to believe they would now be using developers of modern FPS games to recruit.

America's Army was a free FPS shooter completely funded by the US Army. You ranked up by completing missions and it taught you how to use the standard weapons used by the US Infantry. A version of it was used to train soldiers how to aim their rifles before they handled live weapons to save time and money during Basic Training. One of my buddies told me that FPS shooters helped him get through combat because he pretended that he was just playing a game while he was in firefights.

Yeah, I imagine it would help to be able to dissociate from the reality of being in a firefight by pretending it’s a game. Makes me wonder if military-based video games are helping to psychologically prepare future soldiers. I mean, give me a fast and agile combat drone that can be controlled like a plane in a video game like War Thunder, and I will show the enemy what years of experience playing that game looks like…from a safe distance. Plus, can you imagine how agile a fighter drone could be without having a pilot to potentially pass out from turning too hard? You could make small, fast, stealthy, and super-manoeuvrable fighter jet drones able to pull G-loads only limited by the hardware and the strength of the airframe. I can’t help but think that would be highly effective.

@@Ben_Kimber That's why America has been leaning into drone tech so hard. The advantages over manned craft are obvious. The real danger is that if you switch over completely and the enemy manages to develop a jamming system to block comms with the drone, you just lost your entire fleet of craft or have to resort to an onboard A.I. with all the potential dangers that has.

@@L3WGReacts so recently you posted a reaction video about the SR 71 being the fastest jet in existence but that's old and inaccurate. America actually hosts no less than 4 jets faster than SR-71. One is the SR-72 the still in testing next generation version of the Blackbird. Better stealth a full mach faster. Another is the X-22 which flies between mach 5-6. Another is our sixth Gen NGAD fighter which would reach mach 4-5 as well. But the real gem is NASA made a jet that reaches mach 9+ lol. Also. You posted a reaction video after seeing how deadly the F-22 is. However this is a fifth Gen jet and we now have already produced and tested our sixth Gen jets like the B21 bomber, NGAD for both air force and Navy. These would absolutely dominate the F22 and F35. But the coup de grace is that we've already neared final stages on a SEVENTH generation fighter jet....which includes laser cannons, plasma cannons and other energy related munitions

Finally you assert that I should keep comments related to the content. Well I challenge you to find even a single one that isn't. This specific case you are raging and throwing a tantrum about is a great example. My comment not only relates DIRECTLY to the video and content, it adds critical relevant information that he DID NOT receive in the video. I think the US military is the only one that currently has deployed hard-kill lasers. Even the US is just starting with them. They cost about $100M USD but they have almost no ammunition cost. Keep in mind that anti-missile missiles cost as much as $4M EACH so that $100M becomes a bargain after 25 shots. You do need a big enough power plant to fire them so right now they are only on a few navel vessels as anti-missile and anti-drone defense but these technologies always improve, shrink, reduce power requirements, etc. over time.

I think the drone pilots have different vision requirements. You might still be able if you're willing. The biggest problem I've seen drone fighters face is psychological. The drones are so good at "eliminating targets" in hd, infrared, zoom in, close up, that it can deeply bother some pilots after a while.

The current defense being used against drones is jamming the radio communications between the controller and the drone. There is radio channel jumping technology along with having the drones home in on the jammer's transmitter and destroy it. But with the Australians developing a drone made from cardboard, it is becoming cheaper to send some drones in and more expensive to defend against them.

The $6000 model 300 for antipersonnel can still disable a vehicle like a missile launcher truck or cargo truck, you don't have to completely destroy a vehicle to get it out of the fight. You could disable one of these drones with an EMP (ElectroMagnetic Pulse) weapon of some sort, but most probably, once it's up to speed and locked onto target, its wings are stuck in place so it can glide the rest of the way at the same speed as when it was hit with the pulse. Unless the target can move away quickly, it's still going to get hit or some other unlucky soldier or truck will get hit while they're escaping. It's still extremely demoralizing, which can do more damage to an enemy.

Its absolutely crazy how certain video games can actually train you for certain types of combat. Another example of that, is recently 2 American Bradley tanks/IFVs took on a Russian T-90 tank and won. At the very beginning of the Ukrainian invasion their best reconnaissance was teenagers with drones volunteering to help repel the Russian army. Once the Ukrainians got weaponized drones, they turned them over to those same teenagers. It’s a way to help the country when you’re too young to fight. Those same teenagers trained soldiers on using drones effectively. And all of the young people who had played CoD became experts quickly, which is why drones have become so effective in dealing with Russian tanks and heavy equipment.

Most of the Javelin missile system is disposable. The missile and the launch tube are single use. Then they can take all the electronics off the toob, clip it onto another toob, and then fire that toob, repeat. Of course, once they're fired once, all the other enemy tanks 1.5 miles or less away from you know where you are hiding, so you need to run away to another position. If you're under fire, more than likely, you're going to leave that fired toob behind with the expensive guidance stuff clipped to it, rendering your extra missile toobs useless and probably leave those behind too. Most missile and artillery systems come with a white phosphorous grenade or some other kind of "enemy denial system" in their kit so you can stuff them in the toob to destroy it so the enemy can't capture it and use it against the US. Too bad they didn't think of that when they pulled out of Iraq, leaving behind all that stuff the Taliban and ISIS and whoever else will use against the US and our friends..

The Army already has a laser they used for EOD and the Air Force already has a laser that can be mounted on a C-130 for knocking down enemy ICBMs. It's only a matter of time until they can shrink that technology down and we have our first las rifles. The U.S. military already has a tracked land drone that can have an assault rifle, machine gun, shotgun or grenade launcher attached to it for scouting out dangerous places to gain intel on enemies that are dug in or even putting rounds on them. Boston Robotics and Applied Dynamics have each developed their own fully autonomous walking robots, one based on how a dog or a goat walks, and the other on how a person walks, and both have received DARPA grants to further develop them. Which means in the none-too-distant future you're going to have fire teams of U.S. soldiers going on patrol with 1 or 2 of these robots going with them.

If you look up videos from Ukraine you'll see drone operators on the front lines with goggles on.

There are lots of civic ones (I can't recite the preamble to the Constitution without singing it the Schoolhouse Rock way) but Hey! I think it would be hysterical for Lewis to try the grammar rock ones--starting with "Interjections"--perfect for warming up for Reaction vids!

Btw we have had "laser" defenses on us ships for a few years now. I will link a video to an expert in Air-defense in the US Army to go over some of our anti-drone defense. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKu7Y51rapeYd6Msi=jTyHbUC29ZtCK7uC

Hey there brother, L3WG, what's up buddy; "Yo-Yo-Yo? Hey Mate, "WE" as a human race have had the "Kamikaze Drone" (Concept) since the beginning of time. I don't care what century we are in, the (Concept) is the same; "I Don't Care"! In medieval times, there was a forward observer, hand-signaling, back to the archers or the battlefield was actually flagged off, ahead of time. OR, in WW1, an observer, in a bloody "BALOON", signaling back to the artillery, with a lamp, by WW2 we had spotter planes with radios, calling in artillery strikes; what we have here is, simply an advancement in "TECHNOLOGY", now we have a plane in the sky, over the battlefield, with radar, high speed, high resolution cameras, G.P.S. laser spectrometers, and a state-of-the-art satellite communications link to all available assets. "WHAT"? What does it matter, if it's an observer on a hill, with a flag, or a plane in the sky with a camera and a radio? Or, what if it's a G.P.S. guided bomb, (Oh S?!T, not that)? OR? In this case, the actual weapon has the camera installed in the nose of the warhead? Hmm?

Marine "Experiments" are some of God's greatest Gifts to mankind... As someone who has conducted many myself.... the things a Marine is willing to try, Versus what Litterally anybody else is willing to try... You'd be surprised how productive just generally "Not Caring" ... especially for life and and limb ... can be. Who needs test dummies?
