My sister used to own a ranch high up in the mountains in Colorado. They raised and bred a special breed of Apaloosa horsesfor sale as well as had goats, chickens and more. In addition her husband was a licensed outfitter and took guests out on hunting expeditions in the mountains. The main house was a log cabin building with the small rustic living room, dining room and kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. They had no electricity as they were too far away from the main source and depended on wood and propane tanks to produce heat and warm water.

Some of the advice here is more relevant to certain parts of America than others. The small talk with strangers thing is more something that happens in suburbs or rural areas than in cities.

That is kind of the trade-off between socialized medicine and the system we have in the US. Socialized medicine usually takes much longer to get an appointment, and once you have one much longer wait times.

A lot of Americans speak multiple languages and own multiple fire arms. We aren’t that in debt as we tend to be very conscious about spending, as far as medical bills; those are the last bill we pay if we have extra because those have the least impact on our credit score and take years to catch up to us and after 7 years they fall off our debts. Also if you’re middle class to lower you’ll get welfare to pay your medical bills. We’re not far right conservatives but there’s a handful of the south who value America so much they have extreme pride and want to keep it the best country in the world. Most of worry more about the economy and our rights and protecting our children.

Any potential land invasions coming from the east coast would also never make it past the Appalachian mountains - most families in this area literally stockpile weapons (not just guns) and hunt. Many are as good as, if not better than, military marksmen. If the locals didn’t take you out, the wildlife certainly would - several species of venomous snakes, bears, boars, etc.

In America, they do triage (sort you out by the seriousness of the situation). Having said that, I was able to walk out to the ambulance so they assumed that I just had a migraine. I waited in the ER for 8 hours. Turns out I had a brain bleed. I shouldn't have even lived until the ambulance arrived. I did a faceplant into the floor and then they said "THAT'S not a migraine." My husband said, "I've been telling you ITS NOT A MIGRAINE!!" Turned out to be a brain bleed...both sides of an artery blew out.

3-4 hours is pretty standard in the ER near me (unless you are actively bleeding out). Longest I had to wait was 7 hours before I was brought back to be seen

Different states do have different drivers licenses. They are valid for driving anywhere in the country but if you move to a different state you have to get their license and also re-register your car with that state and get a new license plate. There are exceptions for students and military.

Common vehicles depends a lot on where you are. In Texas, for example, you really will see SUV's and trucks being more used outside of the cities while in Colorado you will see Subaru's and other all wheel drive vehicles. The weather in a particular area is a big factor as well as how urban an area you live in. In cities, smaller cars are more convenient. Tesla's are popular in areas that have the infrastructure for them as well as a warmer climate as batteries aren't as efficient in the cold.

Wait times depend in the US. I’d sooner jump off a bridge than go to the ER in my town. We have at least 4 and one is a world class teaching hospital. Waits can be 8 hours. We also have walk in clinics. Waits there are better 1-3 hours. If you’re lucky you have a doctor. You can usually get an appointment 24 hours later. I had strep last year and my doctor couldn’t see me until 2 days later. Remember, I live in a VERY medical community. The US med system sucks and it costs a fortune.

This lady is buying all the name brand shit and shopping at one of the more expensive grocery chains. My family of 4 shops at Aldi for our main shop and do a monthly Costco trip as well. Aldi typically falls around $150-$175 per week. Costco trips usually average around $250. She’s also shopping in Texas and the prices she’s showing there are much higher than they are in Kentucky.

From this the big differences are in the U.S. unless it's a privately owned hospital you are not supposed to wait over 30 mins to at least see a nurse in the E.R. but the cost will be astronomical by the time you get sent home. There, the cost will be minimal but you are put through hell just to get taken care of. I don't see a happy medium 😐

I lived in Munich, Germany for a year, groceries were definitely more expensive in Germany than the US except a few things (bread, dairy, asparagus). All the food had a VAT tax, my state doesn't charge tax on food. Some things were definitely higher quality in Germany but overall, America was cheaper for me.

You can still wait a long time in an ER here in the US. I took a good friend to the ER after a fall with a broken wrist. She was finally seen after 6 hours. She will never go back.

Reminds me of hospitals on airforce bases, socialized healthcare aint the way. It has to suck knowing you pay for the "free" healthcare thru taxes and still pay private for speedy care

While on Bermuda a friend was knocked off his moped and lost some large patches of skin. We went to the hospital and he was asked if he was pissed. He replied damn right I was pissed. This caused some of the staff to laugh. Seeing that he was American and did not understand British slang. They asked him if he was drunk. He replied I'm not drunk but I am really pissed. The staff lost control and most started laughing out loud.

The only National Parks I've been to are Olympic National Park and Ebey Island Reserve. Also, while America does have a lot of National Parks and a lot of very large ones there's actually large chunks of the country where there are none, so it's not that odd to have people who've never been to one.

A rancher who can afford a ranch like that hires immigrants to do the work, then most likely will vote to get the immigrants out of the country, creating a viscious cycle. 🤣🤣 Please understand commenters, that was a joke and don't come after me.

In the US, most of us have health insurance mostly paid for by our employers and we have a portion that is taken directly out of our paycheck. When we go to the doctor, we have something called “co-pays” which is our portion to pay and is usually $20-$50 depending on the service. We might also be responsible for a percentage of any hospital bills which can get expensive and depends entirely on how good your insurance plan it. Now, we do also have national health called Affordable Care Act aka ObamaCare. This is where people who don’t work for employers can get health insurance and make monthly payments. I am not sure how old that dude’s video is but, as a freelancer, he absolutely could have still had health insurance. Wait times: Not NEARLY as bad as national health systems which is why Canadians who have the means come to the USA for medical care. Inner city trauma hospitals may have long waits because… gun shot wounds etc. Smaller community hospitals can and frequently are fast. COVID years were not a great example of how American hospital systems work due to massive influx of patients, severe short staffing, and inability to get medical supplies and support from companies who provide services like radiology, pharmacy, and lab systems so cannot really judge US Healthcare in that era. All in all, yes we do have to pay something for healthcare depending on insurance plans etc BUT I am VERY grateful I have access to American Healthcare as a whole. There is a reason why Middle Eastern ROYALTY travel to only The USA for healthcare rather than get care anywhere else in the World.

On the topic of American Fatness: it’s mostly about poverty. People working 2, 3 jobs (which is a LOT of us) don’t have time or energy to cook a healthy meal at the end of the day, and easily accessible quick foods are specifically engineered to be addictive and make you want to eat more.

I got Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever one year. I was sick for a long time. I was covered in red spots from my chin down my whole torso. It took forever for the spots to go away. I hate ticks!

Normally, loops are named with 3 numbers using highways they connect to establish numbers. In Dallas, Hwy 635 connects Hwy 67 & Hwy 35. (My truck driver Dad taught me this, so if I am wrong, blame him.) On interstates, odd numbers go north-south & even numbers go east-west.

Ref. the noise - didn't he say it was the cicadas (@7:20)? I think it's cicadas shouting out. The old buildings would go way, way back and probably to a time when we were very close to the point of being British people so it makes sense they resemble what you see in England.I live about two hours from Charleston, the Scotchman's around here are convenience stores. I don't know what they do in Charleston, though, since it's a bigger city. And, yes, it was a big slave market - it's a big harbor so shipping traffic comes in there, so that's why.

First of all, why would you have to go to a specific hospital??? I've heard many horror stories about people who have national healthcare and can't be seen or get the tests they need, and sometimes, if it's something like cancer, can cost them their lives. I'll take the US system all day!!!

I took my daughter to the hospital in the USA and they immediately took her to radiology, found a blockage in the intestine and started treatment in 30 minutes. She had a private room with en-suite bathroom, shower and bath tub. A day bed for a parent (one of us stayed with her around the clock), TV, wi-fi and games. Great meals and whatever she wanted at the press of a button.
