If you’re stuck in a road rage attack like the first one, either drive to the nearest police station or call the police immediately. Do not get out of your car, especially if the person is highly aggressive or has a weapon of any kind. Do not drive towards your home or work, you don’t want them knowing where you’ll go later. Always report the incident once you’re safe, if you couldn’t do it previously

I'll never understand people who brake check other drivers. It just ends up with your own car getting damaged. If you feel the driver behind is too close to you, swallow your pride, pull off to the side when there's a good spot and let them go. Besides, considering they were going about 10 mph, I don't think he was following too close.

Car manufacturers should start making dash cameras a standard option. Previously, all these people who brake checked got off the hook by being “rear ended”. But now, this footage is an Insurance professionals dream. Next best thing is the “black box” but it just records car motion data. The actual footage is so much more effective to hold people accountable.

There are ordinances in most states that govern how loud your car stereo can be. In most states if a cop can hear your stereo from more than 10 feet away he can write you a ticket for the stereo being too loud. But in this case the stereo was so loud that in my state the cop would have been required to tow the car. The fines are determined by the number of watts the sound system has. I have seen stereo fines run $20,000 because the driver was disrespectful to the cop who was only going to tell him to turn it down. What could have been a "Please turn it down and have a nice day" became a you are going to jail for disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace plus resisting arrest, with the above listed fine and 30 days in jail.

Most jurisdictions have laws about loud stereos on the books, and a complaint called into the non-emergency line at the Police Station is so appropriate. Everyone should file a complaint so that the police understand the problem is not an outlier. What would be the most effective though, is regulating the aftermarket sound system businesses. Make it illegal to exceed a certain decibel level and hold the vehicle and shop owners accountable. Police should be on board as it’s one more income stream for all the tickets they could write.
@LordLOC10 ай бұрын
@@hatleyhoward7193 I know for a fact in Brooklyn NY, at least the neighborhood I grew up in (Sheepshead Bay) they did have an ordinance for loud music/sound that couldn't exceed a certain decibel level. Of course that was in the late 70s and going into the late 90s before I moved. I don't know if they still do or not. But I agree completely, more people need to actually file complaints, shop owners should be held accountable for selling sound systems that can cause a nuclear explosion and the police should absolutely be on board with handing out tickets.

@@LordLOC They wouldn’t have then as the Federal Government had the Noise Pollution and Abatement Act that would have protected you. It was defunded sometime in the 80’s and the federal government asked local State and City municipalities to regulate with suggested guidelines. Most jurisdictions have an ordinance. There are a few who do not though, so it becomes a complicated mess of trying to get an inactive department on the Federal level to enforce the terms of the act. However, the federal act is applicable to proving a court case so, a complicated mess for all. I’m sorry you had to deal with that. You probably went an entire decade without REM sleep.

I have committed one road rage incident in my life .A guy cut me off so badly I had to swerve and slam on the brakes . I blew my horn at him and he stuck his arm out the window and gave me the finger . Soon we got stopped at a red light . I got out and walked up to him. He started yelling and cursing at me and threatening to kick my ass . I reached in , pulled his glasses off , threw them down in the road , stomped on them and dared him to get out and try to kick my ass . He rolled up his window and drove away fast .

Impeding traffic is an offense and Insurance companies are denying these claims all day long, and winning them in court if disputed. TL:DR: You can’t do whatever you want regarding sound in America, laws are applicable. It’s typically illegal to play music above 60 db during the day. If you are clocking that at your house or car during the day, then your right to privacy is being violated and you should call the authorities. For those who don’t have a decibel meter, turning on your vacuum and determining if the vacuum drowns out the music, or if you can still hear it is a good rule of thumb to assess if you’re being violated. Check your local jurisdiction for specifics but you have recourse here. If the police refuse to follow up, file a small claims court lawsuit and let a Judge apply the written law. Just make sure you record and document every issue… The beauty of America is that legal recourse exists for this situation, even if commenters and offenders are uninformed of the actual Federal and Local laws. A persons freedoms can’t infringe on another’s persons freedoms. So yeah, you can’t just do whatever you want.
