(The information I'm putting here is from sources) 1. American English is actually older · 2. British English is more like French · 3. American spelling was invented as a form of protest Scholars can trace the history of dialects, and there are similarities between English as spoken in parts of the American Southeast and English as spoken in England during the early colonial era some Americans speak English with an accent more akin to Shakespeare's than to modern-day Brits.

They look similar, but their flying saucers are hollow and made of rice paper- kind of tasteless and dissolves in your mouth. Inside is a "sherbet" powder, which is sweet and fizzy on the tongue. (though, maybe if you are someplace like the East Coast, maybe you got them imported from the U.K.?)

The chocolate oranges have been sold in the U.S. during the Holidays for a pretty long time. It had to have been around 25 years ago when my mom 1st introduced me to them, because my daughters were still young children at the time and they're now 36 and 30. They immediately became an annual Holiday treat that we bought every year. I imagine the reason they're only available during the Holidays here has to do with them being imported. I don't mind, it keeps them as something special.

i wouldn't be surprised tho tarriffs going into the us are also considerably lower than into europe. running a quick check on an online import duty calculator suggests it may be free to import (6% normally otherwise).

I do like Hershey's chocolate. But my favorite is Ghirardelli. I've found in my limited experience with European chocolate the texture and cocoa levels are not what I'm used to. I enjoy scones with clotted cream. Don't confuse scones with biscuits or you're going to be disappointed. Our biscuits are awesome! Especially split with a good sausage gravy smothering them! Or butter and jam or honey! Also cookies here are going to be what you call a biscuit 😂 Confused yet? I rather enjoyed my English breakfast. Except for the tomatoes. Mashed peas? The beans on toast is a surprisingly good combination 😊 When trying snacks from other places I notice there are LOTS of different snacks all at once. Unless it's a party I generally only have one or two choices. 😊 The chocolate oranges have been in the US since at least the early 60's. We'd get one for Christmas and I always had my Dad eat mine 😂

Fun fact, the Hershey Company supplies the chocolate for Reese’s peanut butter cups. I don’t know what Hershey bar you tried, but our peanut butter cups use Hershey’s chocolate. We get chocolate oranges in New England around Christmas time. Same brand even. There is actually good chocolate in the US, but they mostly regional or local chocolatiers. Most decent-sized cities have a chocolatier or two. But American taste in chocolate is different - we are used to it being a little less sweet - and the best chocolates are usually dark ones. There are a lot of single-source chocolatiers too, who go all over the world and find cocoa growers to buy from. You just have to find places and local brands like that.
