Unfortunately, in the state, officers only ride one per car. So, the female officer who was first on the scene had to wait for her back up. The once they realized that the girl was out of control, they had to wait for the supervisor. The supervisor had the father do the paperwork. Once the supervisor handed the clipboard with the paperwork over to the other officers is when they were able to take action. They can't do anything until the father officially pressed charges, which is what the paperwork was for.

The media has caused a lot of people to think every situation escalates to violence within seconds. This is an EXTREMELY normal interaction with police, especially when they are dealing with a calm situation and possibly someone with mental issues or drug problems. They will do all they can to get the suspect to follow the commands without having to take things to the next level.

@YolandaAdamsfan I suggest you do some real actual research instead of just watching the msm. It's very enlightening to see the truth, not just what the talking heads on tv say. You will be blown away when you see the amendments on these news acticals once the company/author has been sued and/or ordered by a judge to report the truth and take back their false narrative. The US is equally dangerous for everyone now that criminals are let loose and glorified, and we have over 1 million people within our borders that nobody knows about. There are bad police, just like there are bad doctors and pastors and teachers. But people who believe the police are targeting people and killing people for no reason, are just plain wrong. Combination of drugs and mental health plus a dash of entitlement. How are those issues treated in the U.K.? I'm in a mid sized city and police spend a good chunk of time dealing with people those issues. For example when I listen to the local police scanner there's a woman who calls 5 to 10 times a day because she imagines theres someone breaking in to her apartment, and they aways send someone. Police can't do anything for her real issue.

The standard rule for compliance used to be { ask, tell, force }. It's a pretty standard way for cops to handle a situation that isn't violent or dangerous. Taking things slowly when action isn't immediately necessary is the way the job should be done. They give every opportunity possible and use force as a last resort. Once they pull her out of the car and she tries to kick them, there is no leeway or patience left. It was also an odd situation, so they might have given a couple extra chances for her to cooperate.

I think i would have given her 3 chances to exit the vehicle, and when she refused use the tazer, then stuff her into the squad. Kabir, I have seen this clip many times, and I am as baffled as you! Having read some of the comments, it is obvious that a change of law in the USA is required. Here, it would be simple the police would just tell her to get out of the car once if she didn't, they would just get hold of her and remove her immediately cuff her and drag her kicking and screaming if needs be to the transport vehicle using whatever restraints necessary and if she resists then that's another change as law suits against the cops for what? She was breaking the law they arrested her using whatever force necessary to bring a speedy resolution to the situation! After all, she is the criminal, the person breaking the law the American law needs to be changed what a total waste of the poor cops time!!! I have watched a few clips similar to this. I don't understand why they give the US cops Cs spray, and tazers. If they don't use them, a tazer de-escalates the situation very quickly as dose the spray criminal subdued arrested restrained and locked up quickly, and if they get hurt, then they that's down to them for resisting arrest!!! Another comment said about people thinking they can act how they like well perhaps that's due to the lack of consequences!!

Kabir, the cops are trained to handle these situations with kid gloves. There’s a lot of pressure on them because there have been multiple publicized incidents whereby the police forcibly detained a prisoner resulting in their death or injury. In one highly publicized case, several cops forcibly held a perpetrator down and when he repeatedly cried out that he couldn’t breathe, they didn’t let up. The prisoner died. The police paid dearly for their actions, one of them more than others who wanted to loosen their hold. The story made national news of course and let to a highly debatable proposition to abolish Police departments nationwide. As a result, the police had to work under a microscope and misconstrued regulations left the police in a quandary. Many officers quit their jobs and police department were either downsized or eliminated. The proposal to defund the police has begun. It is currently the subject of critical political debate. Right, what’s the alternative? Most police departments have downsized and many officers quit their jobs. Even when an officer’s life is in danger, he is supposed to have clear and sustainable cause to defend himself with force. I’m glad that I don’t personally know any policemen whose life has been on the line or taken as a result of this turmoil. Right outside my front door in a small town in Pennsylvania, the police cornered a man who had led them on a high speed chase following a simple driving violation. A local cop was radioed ahead to help in the capture of the suspect. When he put his car in a position to block the suspect’s escape he ended up face to face with the man who was now on foot. The runner shot the policeman in the head through his windshield. The policeman died leaving a wife and two small children. What did he do wrong other than try to enforce the law? I don’t deny that there are corrupt cops in the US, but they are relatively few. The media just loves the drama of controversy. I hope this helps to shed light on why those police officers went overboard in giving this despicable woman so much rope.

I think cops must have to do mountains of paperwork if they have to use force. I think that's why they are so patient with people now. I also think they're treating that girl delicately for her dad's sake.

I think that the police don't want to arrest her because she will most likely not be prosecuted anyway, even with her father pressing charges. A judge is probably just going to throw out the case. All the time that will be wasted on paperwork plus the family issues that come from pressing charges is a lot. This is all being videoed so she has no case against the officers so at least that much is a positive. I am sure the police believe this girl has some mental issues so they are trying to go slow and gentle with her but I am going to guess that they are going to have to drag her out of the car and arrest her to end this. These police are so much more patient and diplomatic than I would have been, that is for sure. I am glad to see footage of police being good cops. No matter how nasty and uncooperative she became, the police never once stopped treating her with dignity.

I’d only tell my daughter one time to get out of the car. After that, anything that happens, that’s on her. If you choose to disobey, then that means you chose the results as well.

This pissed me off way more than it should've. And you know the parents turned around and bailed her out that day. She'll learn nothing. She's past the point of no return. Her friends seeing this video and mocking her is the only way she might realize how pathetic she's, sadly.

I’m glad somebody from another country is watching what the police deal with over here. A lot of times the police are portrayed by the media and in entertainment as evil bullies. I see a lot of non US citizens have that perception. That they’re aggressive and quick to shoot. First of all they’re not quick to shoot. The fact that anyone could have a gun over here means they have to be cautious. Compliance is very important to them until you’re neutralized as a threat. The problem is they deal with people like this all day. People that just refuse to comply. They refuse to obey simple commands. In any situation the first thing the police are gonna do is put everybody in handcuffs. You are “detained”, not arrested. Then they want to talk to each party individually to get each side of the story. They often have little discretion on not arresting somebody. Because the way it works here is you’re arrested, processed, released on bond with a court date. In court is when you argue your case. Don’t argue it to the police because they’re not the judge, They’re simply collecting you. Many these people would simply get a ticket, or be arrested but released with a citation later that night. But because they are abusive and resist, they’re giving extra charges and that puts them in jail. They do it to themselves.

If my daughter would have pulled that crap, no cops would have been called. My husband would have yanked her ass out of that car so fast she would be clean into tomorrow. I don't feel bad for her father at all. He's the one that raised this little shit. If he was a real man, he could have taken care of it without police intervention.

Then the little shit would press charges on the father for assault. Better to let the cops deal with it. I don't feel bad for him either.

The reason why cops allow for these situations to carry on as long as they do is they first want to attempt deescalation. A peaceful resolution is always best. Secondly, they can get a handle on the suspects mental condition or see if they are otherwise impaired. Lastly, it is evidence. It is hard to argue that your rights have been violated when you have this footage that clearly shows that law enforcement tried their best to resolve the problem without further conflict or arrest. With as many people who wanting to argue cases of police misconduct, the body cam evidence is a lifesaver for the good cops out there. Many people don't seem to realize that there are more good cops than bad ones since all the bad cops get all the press.

The cops are taking their time with her cause they believe she's not worth arresting. Like the cop said bfore, this is stupid. If the cops arrest her they have to spend hours dealing with paper work and other crap. That's why they are trying their best by giving her multiple chances to get out the car. Sometimes most arrests aren't necessary, and the cops try to convince that person to do the right thing. If I were cop I'd be doing the exact same thing.

The cops allowed the girl to stay in the car longer than normal because there wasn't any danger. Moreover, the cops knew everything was being recorded and all the video would be shown in court if needed. Another thing is that the police in that state may have to tread lightly because the politicians may not have the cops' back. In my state, the cops would have pulled her out right away and they would not have been careful about it. But then again, the state's politicians are not going go after the cops here. Cops are respected here and the criminals know not to screw around with them.

That was exhausting. Absolutely no one would be given that much leeway. Unfortunately, in the US, you would have been on the ground in twenty-five seconds. The affluent neighborhood might be a contributing factor.

I felt like they didn't want to do the paperwork for such a stupid arrest, so they gave her every chance to act like an adult. But, I do agree they went over the top with her, if this had been a man he would have been snatched out way sooner.
