The women’s prison is far different. Many women in for murder is for killing their kids. In fact 71% of children killed by a parent are killed by the mother. 8/1,000 kids in America are killed by a parent. Yet, men get the harsher sentence. Society is weird.

Any person that can hurt a kid should be buried under the prison. There's just no excuse. Don't bother asking why with most of these, brother. Some people just suck out loud. It's always good to see Judge Glazer on one of these things. She has a good head on her shoulders.

That was heartbreaking. Insanity?! I'd love to know what process they used to reach that diagnosis. I don't believe it. The fact that he wasn't responding emotionally or at all when he was being yelled at shows psychosis such as being a psychopath. Psychopaths are capable of being whatever they want. I hate to knock anyone in the mental health community though I have a feeling that guy played someone.

In this case I honestly feel like race played a role. I'm the last person whom thinks everything is about race... usually I think it's all bs .. but there are a few times like this one where it absolutely was the reason for the sentencing.

@@virginiarobbins7539 Exactly, plus Kabir said a guy driving a truck, WITH FAULTY BRAKES, MIND YOU, was sentenced to 100 years in prison, I would let that be just vehicular manslaughter, but that woman deserves to be behind bars for almost, if not, for the rest of her life, but of course, people never get true justice in society, the rich stay rich, the poor stays poor, the abused keeping getting beaten, the abuser keeps going, the killer keeps killing, rioters keep rioting, and us middle-class citizens have to do it ourselves before things get better or worse. Simply in a few words: Things need to change.
@VelkanAngels
@VelkanAngels Жыл бұрын
@@virginiarobbins7539 - Really? Race? Not the fact that she was a non-ugly woman who was crying? There is a massively bigger difference between sentencing for men vs. women, than for white people vs. black people. *Especially* when criminal *history* is taken into account as well (after which the race-disparity virtually disappears entirely, but the gender one certainly does not). People have a harder time looking at a woman and seeing "threat to society", cause women are generally physically non-threatening and non-intimidating. The prettier the woman is, the less likely she is to face any prison time at all.

The mother is worried about the rest of her daughters life in prison? Little Brielle's life will be spent in a casket. SHUT UP! I was beaten as a child by MY mother. Badly!!! Dad was in the Navy and gone and she was a drunk. It was horrible. I wish I could forget, but I can't. Talked to my Dad one day and he said she wasn't doing well and I should call her. I did. She said' "Who is this?" I said' Dianne, she said "Let me think, Dianne who?" I said, "It's your daughter." It was VERY sad.... She NEVER loved me. And I still feel that to this day. Never had a Mother. Just an abuser.

At around 5:18: If I recall correctly, the woman screaming on camera in the gallery is the mother of one of the defendants, understandably devastated at the severity of the punishment meted out against her child - a punishment that was 100% deserved, but one that would certainly make any parent upset to witness. She witnessed one of the defendants faint at sentencing and that set her off. The other woman crying and throwing a tantrum on the floor is one of the defendants realizing that her life is OVER - and justifiably so, after what she apparently did to that child.

Concerning the Heath-Phelps case at 9:00 The most likely reason she was allowed to plea guilty to a lesser charge is almost certainly because the prosecution were seeking to avoid running afoul of the double jeopardy clause in the 5th Amendment of the Constitution. Because the trial on the charge of vehicular homicide ended in a hung jury (basically jury was deadlocked and couldn't agree on a verdict), the prosecution elected to try her on lesser charges they could prove beyond a reasonable doubt - in this case, vehicular assault, likely in a lesser degree because it was a result of negligence and not malice. The prosecution were likely limited in how much time they could give her as a result of the statute she was charged under.

For the Case of the texting driver hitting Michael Phelps on his motorcycle and killing him, she was given probation and community service after the family approved the deal. They knew her and mostly wanted her to admit to having been texting. She’d been Michael’s daughter, Alyssa’s, 8th grade student. Alyssa stated she remember her being a really good kid and that it was a mistake she herself could have committed since she’d also texted and driven in the past. That’s the reason she wasn’t treated more harshly. I don’t know that in her situation I could have done the same and been so lenient with the person who killed my father. But maybe it’s also because I have zero respect for anyone who has ever texted while operating any sort of vehicle or heavy machinery.

I did some pretty horrible things in my early life. Was originally sentenced to 33 years in prison, no early out. I accepted it as I was guilty. (( it just so happened it was an Illegal sentence. I did not fight, but it turned out that hundreds of us were illegally sentenced - I served 12 years, but I worked hard on getting myself straight, and breaking all my addictions. If I could could go back and undo all the damage , I would. But I can’t. I CAN make sure I never do those things again. 📻🙂

One of my biggest fears is being framed. I don't know why I have this fear. I don't commit crimes, I'm a caring person, I respect the rights of others. But one of the few things that makes me truly angry is when someone accuses me of something I didn't do. Maybe it's because my sister used to sneakily and quietly abuse me as a child, and when I'd finally lose it, I'd get in trouble by my parents. She'd spend hours whispering in my ear until I'd finally start screaming. I swear, she's like Hannibal Lecter. But I've always been afraid of stumbling across a crime scene or having something terrible happen to a loved one, then having the added trauma of being blamed for it. Makes my heart race just thinking about it.

In America, you have the right to put on the best defense you can, guilty or not. The prosecution has to turn over all evidence, discovery, etc. So that he can prepare a defense against that. The truck driver that got the long sentence was because he was a professional driver and did not use the emergency ramp to stop his truck. Inmates ALWAYS find out what the inmate is in prison for. When a new inmate comes to prison he or she should expect be approached by other inmates and asked what they are in prison for and to see there court papers. If the new inmate says he didn't or doesn't have any court papers the other inmates will know something is up right away. When that happens those inmates will contact people outside of prison to get copies of the new inmates court papers. Being that court papers are a matter of public record this is easy to do and can be found online in a couple of minutes. If that inmate is in prison for child molestation or beating a kid to death the inmate will wish he or she was never born. That inmate will be beaten brutally and without mercy and will end up in the medical ward for a couple months. When that inmate is finally healthy enough to return to general population he or she will end up in the medical ward the same day the left it to return to general population. And this cycle of events will never stop.

I had a roommate like the DUI girl, when I was in treatment. She'd had FOUR Duis before this last one. She didn't care AT ALL. She caused a serious accident and ended up in the middle of the roundabout. Her husband kept bailing her out. She was in her 50s! This woman had the nerve to say to me, while putting on her makeup, "Gosh, it's not like I killed anybody". And she FUCKING LAUGHED. There was no reasoning with her, no matter how hard I tried. All she ever talked about was how rich she was and makeup. She was vain, and completely unbothered by the pain and torment she'd caused to so many people. This was while she was sober. Imagine how unbearable she must've been while drinking! I wouldn't be surprised if she's in prison, serving a life sentence right now. No remorse. No sign of actually quitting drinking after she left. I've only met a few people who I'd consider psychopathic/sociopathic, and each time, it's simultaneously confusing, frustrating, and infuriating.

I Uber everywhere because I know how crippling an alcohol addiction can be. I wouldn’t ever want to put anyone at risk, even though I probably drive better drunk than most people drive sober. But I wouldn’t make that blanket statement. I’m only saying this because I love your channel and don’t want you to judge all people who have a DUI in that microscope. I’m a war vet. I believe in the Michael Phelps case, with the texting and driving, the family of Michael Phelps accepted the deal in part because they knew her. The daughter, Alyssa, had been the girl’s 8th grade teacher and remembered her as a good kid and decided to be lenient. She also admitted to having texted and driven in the past and she felt it could have just as easily been her hitting someone in the same way.

The guy Had multiple opportunities to use ramps for truckers designed specifically for them if their brakes happen to fail or for whatever reason, and he somehow missed all of them. So really those 10 years to me or the minimum of what he should have.

17:11 - this guy has schizophrenia, has bipolar, trained in MMA, has threatened his mother with and run around the streets with a knife... Anyone else think this guy should already have been committed to a mental institution? Some people you can identify straight away as a likely future killer. Court is the wrong place for this guy. Remember the name, John Chavez.

Depending on the actual year and state the texting woman commited the crime makes a difference. It took many years for states to apply laws for no texting and driving.

Our justice system is so flawed. As someone who has dealt with our system, I’m sick of it. There’s either no justice or little justice for victims.

That little 3 year old girl was brutally murdered because she wet herself and she wanted a snack from the kitchen. Absolutely shameful.

There are a lot of additional charges judges can put on for swearing at them. It is considered assault in some jurisdictions.

Harm a child? ZERO sympathy. It's disturbing how some of these people didn't have any remorse for their actions.

My friend was killed by someone texting while driving while he was riding his bike. The woman who killed him never served any jail time either.

The most hated people in prison, is the child beaters/rapist. When the other prisoners find out, they will be punished. Some parents will stand by their child no matter how disgusting of a crime they’ve committed. That’s why the screaming.

My personal opinion is that murder with intent should be determined by actuarial tables. However long the victim’s life expectancy is considered to be should be the total of the sentence.
