It's in part why buying local and as close to the ground as possible is so important.

I agree with you about putting the onus on the providers, but I think a more potent deterrent would be banning them from selling that item in the United States for one year, which would give them both the incentive and time to clean up their supply chain. Fraud is a huge problem with coffee.

Hi Kabir! When I was doing illegal drugs, word would get out quickly if the dealer was stepping on his stuff, or was selling something that was cut with something that would get you sick. Then, he would lose all of his customer's. Also, in the case of psychedelic drugs, the dealer would have what ever you wanted. If you were looking for mescaline, that's what he had, if it was psilocybin, by God you were in luck! In reality, it was almost always LSD. Most people couldn't tell the difference, but having a lot of experience with these types of drugs, I could, but not until I had taken them. There is a distinct difference in the time of onset and the duration of the trip, otherwise the effects are quite similar. I didn't really mind if I got acid, in fact it was my psychedelic of choice. I remember sitting with a friend of mine who was selling acid. When some body was looking for for LSD, he had "purple haze", if they asked for psilocybin it was "purple mushroom delight", if they were after mescaline it became "purple cactus blossom". It was hilarious.

I would question the realness of British food as well. The way the BRITs have reacted to having chicken sandwiches in America that is actually a piece of chicken and not a formed patty makes me believe that the UK has a lot of processed food as well. Remove the plank in your own eye before removing the speck from someone else’s.

Fining the top company won't work because they have no control over those beneath them. If you are a producer of beef products, you will sell to multiple suppliers like grocery stores and even meat markets or the meat market may be the third or fourth place that the food is distributed and the producer has no control over that and may not even be aware of it. The job of policing these things falls on the FDA here in the USA and it is up to them to take whatever legal action is needed up to closing down the businesses that are selling these fake or mislabeled items.

Only use olive oil and purchase it from a small Italian shop.Purchase those where ingredients is ONLY olive oil, where it is certified and where it tells me where the olive oil was processed (In Italy). Yes it is expensive but like anything else I read labels and purchase what I can from local farmers markets. I realize this is not realistic for so many families and it makes me angry that large supermarkets in the US are feeding us garbage that is making us sick.

The olive oil is why I always check the labels. I buy organic EEVO from California, where I live. I try to by local from small farmers. Quality vs quantity. I don’t want to put chemicals, hormones, antibiotics and colouring that is harmful. Yes, I pay more but knowledge about food, what is done to it to get it into you shopping cart is very important to me.

I buy all of my meats from a farm store, but I know in the USA cheese can legally have a certain amout of saw dust. I also know that processed food can have an alotted amount of blood or feces. I buy almost all non processed food. I know it's not all the greatest. What do we eat otherwise? I worry about my oils though, I only use avacoda and olive oil. It's not something I can make at home.

I would say the majority of us Americans realize that a lot of our food is fake depending on what you mean by fake. If you don't consider it real food unless you are walking through a field and take a bite out of a cow's ass then, Yes, it's all fake.😢

idk what "fake food" even means. its either edible or it isnt. meanwhile brits eat dry sausages that are like 10% meat and 90% filler.

@@WriterOfMany A lot of it is knowing ingredients and why they may be in a product and if it matters. I’m sure there’s lists out there to make it easier but reading the ingredients list and knowing what to look for is a good start. I just got off work but I’ll ask my ex about it tomorrow since he can probably word it better than me, haha! 😊

I would say make the fine a percentage of the total sales of the item in question. Say 6%. They also need to go back to having FDA inspectors in the food factories like they used to.

@@user-sq5eg8vz6j Thats because you have to prove damages have been done. If someone died because they misreported how much "filler" was in their food, you beter believe someone would get in trouble for it. No one has ever died from a little extra water being injected into their chicken.... they just get juicier chicken lol.

Chocolate is the biggest rip-off, you will see a candy bar that says 99% cacao, now my family owns a good restaurant that buys 100% cacao for the baker it costs us $480 an ounce but yet you're 3 oz candy bar with 99% cacao cost you $3.80 and that is the world price for cacao per ounce so even if you are in Europe you're fancy chocolate is more than 90% soy

This also is because alot of countries are about profits. Gotta have big margins or the people with the shares in the company aren't happy. So adluterating food happens. Sort of a down side to be first world. It's why I do sort of like some of the laws in the UK when it comes to food. While some are a bit out there, like red food coloring being bad, some of the rules are useful. None the less UK still had its own food issues. This is why no matter what coun try you live in, buy fresh food from local places you know. Like farms. And funny thing is many people are against GMO foods, but most don't realize that ALOT of food we have been eating for hundreds of years is a GMO. Corn? Apples? Watermelon? These are all GMO (genetically modified) foods. They have changed sizes, colors, tastes...etc all through genetics. Alot of the food we eat now, if we were given it long ago, we wouldn't even know its the same food really.

I became a habitual label reader years ago. I was shocked to find out not all honey is actually real honey. On a label for butter, it said “not to be used for cooking or baking.” I thought…what???? This is why I cook from scratch. And I don’t buy fast food. I’m wondering when they will start selling Soylent green.

In 1969 when I was a little girl my mom sent me to a summer camp in Germany and the cooks told us we were eating horse meat and not beef. Talk about turning into a vegetarian for a month lol. I still don’t eat much meat now in my 60s. I would rather eat more vegetables. I love fresh veggies especially carrots.
