Kabir, this is only the 3rd largest stadium in the county (i.e., LA). There are 12 other NFL stadiums that are larger. And probably good amount of college football ones as well. The more recent trends seem to be not to build as big as they can but rather more luxurious so they can charge more, particularly for wealthy and corporate clients.

Yes for sure to up the price cuz this was built without city, state or public money. Stadium seat licenses & suites, advertisers, clients & of course fans who visit & buy will share the burden. Which is alright with Los Angeles residents cuz you have a choice & it won't take money away from local programs.

The largest NFL Stadium (MetLife Stadium in NYC) would be the 15th largest if it were a college football stadium. Even Nebraska has a higher seating capacity.

I laughed when you mentioned about the airport because the airport is literally 10 minutes away from the stadium. I'd never got to go when it was the Hollywood horse race track but I think this is a better use of the land

I'm a photographer who's shot at SoFi. The stadium itself is very impressive, and I was quite impressed with the way that the building holds natural light. However, access in and out of the place is a nightmare, and the parking is nothing short of extortionate. I'm talking about prices so insane that there's no way that anyone in the surrounding community could afford to go there.

Corporate greed. That money could have been spent on building affordable housing to decrease the homeless population in Los Angeles. Instead they could be contributing to it.

It was really irresponsible of the stadium to build the stadium in a low-income area where they can't afford the shows. And then once the show/game is over, they make it difficult for attendees to catch their rides. Uber/Lyft drivers don't want to come to the area because of the area. Taxi drivers will turn you down if they don't think you will be a good victim for them to take advantage of. The concert ended at 10 and we couldn't get an uber/lyft until 12:30 AM despite ordering the ride a day in advance.

I'm a Rams Season ticket holder and it's the best stadium I've been too. Before that it was the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta. It's going to host the Olympics in 2028 and it's a candidate for WC host in 2026. It's not official yet but it's still between SoFi and the Rose Bowl for the world cup in Los Angeles. The Rose Bowl is larger and has history hosting the 94 WC final and the 99 Women's WC final but it's very outdated and in need of massive renovations and it's a nightmare getting in and out of there. SoFi has turf field but replacing it with grass for the WC shouldn't be an issue and it's much more easily accessible than the Rose Bowl and right next to the airport.

Being from Los Angeles, when I saw the massive size of the stadium, my first thought was OMG imagine the problems with earthquakes, but of course, they thought of that issue too and worked around it. Still, not the place I would want to be during a major quake simply due to the number of people that would be there in a panic and all of that water being tossed everywhere. I have been through countless earthquakes and at least 3 major quakes, 2 of them close to the epicenter. The last one in 1994 finally got me to leave L.A. because the strong aftershocks went on for months. I was so traumatized that when a large truck would go by and create a vibration I would get an adrenalin rush. This stadium is fantastic, I am glad to finally see it. - Thank you.

This stadium is 15 minutes away from my house. I went to the stadium for the first time last December for the BTS concert. The grounds and the stadium are beautiful, however getting in and out of the parking lot is a nightmare. Parking costs $80-$100 if you're not a season ticket holder. You can Uber in, but waiting for an Uber to take you home can take a couple of hours. Leaving in your own car, however, can also take a couple of hours to get out of the lot.

The space used to be the Hollywood Park Casino & Racetrack. If you ever played GTA V, the older casino and race track were based on what was on the lane before SoFi Stadium.

The two larger stadiums are college stadiums which tend to be larger but more basic. The LA Coliseum (used mainly by USC) was built in 1921 and the Rose Bowl (used mainly by UCLA) was built in 1922.

I’m going to upset people with this statement. I do not like the Rose Bowl. I know it’s supposed to be the “grandaddy of them all,” but I feel like you just develop such a connection to your own stadiums. Tiger Stadium is the best college stadium by far imo - So, to me the Rose Bowl seems flat. Idk, it’s beautiful and iconic and everything…

AT&T Stadium in Texas is another marvel with a 110,000 capacity. It's older being opened in 2009 but is only for 1 team the Dallas Cowboys unlike sofi which holds 2 NFL teams. It's quite a site to see as well

The band BTS held a 4 night concert there in Nov-dec 2021, all 4 nights were sold out. Also Super Bowl will be played there this year

It’s amazing there. Looks like everything is in ultra HD when you are in the stadium. I went to the first football game played there. Pre season Rams vs Chargers. And on Monday my brother went to the Rams vs Cardinals play off game there said the energy was insane!!

Having lived in Monterey, CA for a period of 3 yrs I sure know what it feels like, when a big one hit, especially just having arrived from Germany, when this happened: - The Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989 occurred at 5:04 p.m., right before the World Series baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A’s. It was an awakening for seismologists to be more aware of these natural disasters due to the fact that it was the largest earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1906. --- You can be assured it is not to be taken lightly. Went trough 6 smaller quakes after that and you kind of get used to taping your kitchen cabinets shut, when they predicted one on the horizon .

It's quite a place. It's only a couple of miles away from where I live. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend a game there yet. The NFC Championship game will take place there on Sunday between the Rams and the 49ers. Right next door is The Forum, the original home of the LA Lakers and where "Showtime" originated. It is currently owned by Madison Square Garden and they hold lots of music concerts there (just getting back up and running from the Covid shutdowns). It is also the proposed site for the LA Clippers' new arena, which has not yet broken ground.

I just went to the Sofi stadium for the Chargers vs Broncos game like three weeks ago... And their are plenty of things the stadium is missing that is honestly very normal at every other stadium. For starters, their is zero speakers or tv's in the hallways of the consession stands area at all. So while you are grabbing food or a drink and something happens in the game, you will have no idea what happened, just hear the roar of the crowd. Same with the bathrooms. You would expect their to be at the very least have the games audio playing while you are in the restroom. Nope, you will have no idea again what is happening while you are dropping a duece at Sofi Stadium lol. The food and signage is also very disapointing for it being such an expensive brand new stadium. I do think they will upgrade the place much more in the next year or so for the Rams and Chargers.

i went to high school five minutes away 20+ years ago. Sofi is a mere few miles away from LAX Airport. The land Sofi is built on used to housed Hollywood Park horse Race Track when its heyday in the 40s, 50s and s60s, the who's who of tv and Movies like Lucille Ball, Tyrone Power, Elizabeth Taylor, Errol Flynn, Bob and Delores Hope etc all went to bet on the horses. There's a Concert venue, the Forum and a casino which retained it's name , Hollywood Park Casino ( my school , an all girls' Catholic highschool had the prom in one of the banquet rooms upstairs in the Casino when I was I senior. My high school got a bit of a discount for holding the prom there since there was already a preexisting relationship between the race track and the school due to the fact my high school held one of its annual fundraisers , Derby day in the spring at the race track. And also having the prom there also canceled out having it at hotel which is what the prom committee was trying to achieve. But the school admin knew what would happen, some of the girls were planning to have either their patents or boyfriends rent hotel rooms for the night/ No hotel rooms at the casino circa the year of 2000. Yeas I graduated from high school at the turn of millennium and I am old enough to remember that Kobe Bryant (may he RIP) and Shaq were members of the US' Olympic Basketball team for the Sydney Summer games and that was also the first year of the L.A. Lakers ' 3 peat 3 year NBA Championship winning streak. And the Election Recount that happened as a result of the presidential election voting snapfus in Florida.)

Stan Kroenke is REALLY going to spend some money. St. Louis City & County sued Kroenke, the Rams & the NFL for violating the league's relocation rules in moving the Rams from St. Louis back to Los Angeles. Kroenke settled out of court with St. Louis on his own for $760 million, leaving the rest of the NFL with the lawsuit still hanging over their heads. Kroenke is married into the family that owns the Walmart retail store chain, and he also owns the NHL Colorado Avalanche, the NBA Denver Nuggets & the arena they both play in, the Pepsi Center. Kroenke also is the operator of the MLS Colorado Rapids, along with owning SoFi Stadium, the Rams & Arsenal FC. SoFi Stadium will be the venue for the Final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

1:20 The park and the lake are adjacent to the stadium. They're all park of one big multi-purpose complex. Its funny you mention an airport though. The stadium is actually very close to LAX. They had to build most of the stadium below ground because of height restrictions being that close to the airport.

What they never mention is that sofi even has a waterfall! If you walk up the ramp to the stadium from the pink or purple parking section, not the stairs, there's a waterfall and steam that winds through it. They have it lit up at night with colored lights and it's really spectacular! There are fish in the lake and lots of wildlife in the park, so are specific to the area.

The architectural firm that designed this must have made tens, if not hundreds of millions. And, although the price tag was $5b, by putting high-end housing, an upscale retail district, and the accompanying high-end (expensive) restaurants, the owner and investors essentially created their own market and will make money off that property for decades.

I've gone to three games at So-Fi (one Rams, two Chargers) and it's truly spectacular. I grew up in Philadelphia and I always thought the Lincoln Financial field was nice....it is, but this is exponentially more spectacular. I still prefer to see things in the Rose Bowl, though, because it's the UCLA home stadium and it has a history that's hard to beat.

The stadium itself isn't 5 billion, but the whole complex in it's entirety is. All paid with no public city money. All private money was used. The 5 billion includes stadium, music venue, a park, a lake, NFL hq, ESPN hq, tv studio, hotels, apartments, movie theater, shopping center, gym, train station, restaurants/bars, parking lots, mini police station. There are two NFL teams that play there The Los Angeles Rams & chargers... but it is RAMS HOUSE lol The stadium will be open all year round for concert events, award shows, public events, etc.

This is totally correct. The stadium went well over its initial budget estimate of 1.8 billion dollars and did in fact cost 5 billion dollars to complete, just the stadium. The upcoming surrounding amenities and infrastructure will cost even more.
