If they have your license plate you'll never get away. Plus 90% of the time in these chases at least in California they have a helicopter following the chase. Even if you away from ground units you can't get away from the eyes in the sky.

Ok, if they are driving a stolen car, they don’t care about the plates being seen. They have a few mins at the beginning where if they create enough traffic or distractions for the police they can create a gap between them and the police, hop out to the car and attempt to blend in to surrounding areas. As long as the suspects are never seen, the cops won’t know who their looking for. Rarely it works but it does work at times. BUT as soon as the have multiple cops surround the area and helicopter is in the sky, they’re done for….usually.

I once sat a test in the rain, and I loved it because I can't be pinged for driving too slow or leaving too big of a gap with the car in front of me. Most departments or jurisdictions in the U.S. restrict use of the PIT Maneuver to 40 mph or less; some even a max of 30 mph. My son-in-law is a police officer and a supervisor has to give permission via radio for a PIT, and the officer is required to call out the speed and traffic (light, medium, etc) during the pursuit. He knew of a local highway patrolman who performed a PIT at around 70 mph and it was a bad crash so the patrolman was suspended, then fired.

I drove away from a cop and got away once. I was shaking from the adrenaline for about an hour afterwards. I was pulled over the night before and given a warning because my high beam headlights were stuck turned on (I had the new part but had to wait a week for my appointment to get it replaced). The next night I was driving and saw the same cop heading the opposite direction and he turned on his lights and siren but it was rush hour and there was too much traffic for him to turn around, so I took off, turned a few corners and parked well out of sight. I definitely would not recommend anyone doing this, I was young and stupid. This was also around 2001 so there were not traffic cameras or dash-cams that they could get my license plate or track me down.

Hi Kabir... successful get-a-ways is probably VERY VERY low... maybe less than 1 or 2%. There is an old saying "you can't out run the radio". Also, if the police have a license plate that actually belongs to the bad guy, they have your address, phone etc. Many times larger cities have the capability of putting an air unit or helicopter up and those guys will just follow you to where ever you go. It really is probably one of the top 5 stupidest things you can do in life is run from the police. You are right, it adds more charges and in most states it is a felony offense.

We used drag race at a place called Phillips flats here in Alabama and we got the cops called on us. I had a Trans AM with a 455 and I easily out ran the police and I would have gotten away if one of the guys that got caught hadn't ratted me out. They clocked me at 140 mph, but it was more like 160. The cop chasing me told the Judge that after he heard the supercharger crank up he slowed down, because he knew that he would never catch me. I never spent a night in Jail, because the people that they had got to testify against me wouldn't and they couldn't prove their case without them. This was in the 90's

In the US, police cars are the equivalent of Xfinity Series race cars. The "police package" on a police car is providing 800-900 hp and a beefed up racing suspension. The perp in the stolen police car lost it at one point because he wasn't used to the power. IMO UK police cars need the US police package. If possible always have superior or equal to your opponent. This is why in some ME countries the police drive Lamborghinis or Ferraris.
@davebcf1231

@@davebcf1231 You are correct, most Ford police packages offer between 250-300hp (Btw Xfinity is 750hp not 800-900). But the frames, suspension and steering are beefed up like a race car.
@davebcf1231
@davebcf1231 3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelbateman8469 Yep. Some of the police Chargers I think are up around 400hp. The rest are 250-300 like you said, although I doubt many of them are still as low as 250. I'd guess those are older cars that are just still being used by smaller departments who don't have the money to upgrade as often. Being paired with the upgraded suspension you mentioned lets them fully utilize the hp they do have.

Some of the dashcam make me feel like those driving video games for real. I played grand theft auto. Man its scary in video i cant imagine doing it in real life. Never mind risking others life just to make a run for it. And don’t for a second doubt they don’t review these and charge them for every damage and law break. Closest thing that happened to me was, i was driving down a highway. It was under construction, cop car zooms up behind me with its lights on. Wasnt for me. But you bet I felt paniced it was. Checked seat belt and speed. He/she was going to a call presumably. But i could not pull over and let them pass. Down to one lane, traffic cones and no pavement beside me. I wasnt about to speed up either. Stayed the speed limit and drove threw. Maybe only a minute to get past the construction and i moved over as soon as i could. Cop flew past me in their way. I pulled over shortly after. My nerves were shot. Happened late at night thankfully no one else on the road. I was just coming home from work.I kept questioning myself the whole time. What do i do? What does he want me to do? I actually was so worried I held him up. I later asked a officer at a sandwich shop. Lol. He was waiting in line near me and i asked him. He said i did exactly the right thing. I had no way to pull over. So i moved when i could. And that was the perfect thing to do. I think he saw i was still shook by it. His explanation helped greatly. I am not a nervous driver. But i will never forget that.

Depending upon the nature of the initial offense, if chases are deemed too risky, the officers will back off. Example being they're headed towards a school some while kids are leaving, heavy traffic, or the offense isn't worth worth risk. If you're running from police and they back off, the perp is more than likely on the books and have a record, thus they know where to find you. They'll find em later.

A good video that shows that spine of many police officers is the one of 40 standing in an elementary school hallway in Texas while kids were dying. Most of these chases should not happen. If it's not someone who poses an immediate threat to others, pursuit is to be called off. However, since many are small town officers with no life, they'll do a 110mph chase through traffic to catch a small time pot dealer.

Luckily high speed chases are occurring less often, at least in parts of the US. On average 87 innocent bystanders are killed per year by high speed chases. They make up about 25-27% of those injured or killed by high speed pursuits. That means on average for every 3 suspects and persons in the suspect car injured or killed in high speed chases, 1 innocent bystander is injured or killed. That is pretty high collateral damage. On average 3 cops are killed per year in high speed pursuits, about 1 for every 25 innocent bystanders. Since most high speed chases are started for non-violent offenses, the chase itself is making society and roads less safe. The monetary damage to bystanders, vehicles and property are usually paid by the bystanders. The criminal likely doesn't have insurance, and the police don't have to pay for damage caused by the chase, even if it is their vehicles that cause the damage. Obviously we all want criminals caught, but we should also want innocent people to be safe.

Hi speed chases are a bit of a contentious issue in the states. Probably done more often than necessary and often times over petty stuff. There was a politician in the south of the U.S who got in trouble for trying to encourage is neighborhood to throw rocks at police on chases, because they kept chasing Walmart shoplifters from the next town over through his area. Here near my neighborhood suspect and a random guy got killed in a head on collision seconds after police started a chase with the suspect. That one was less contentious because the suspect was a car jacker so he was a threat to the public.

You would think with all the police chases that are shown on TV, that the last thing someone running would give up right away. But oh no! 1:55 Not all chases are high speed at all. 4:00 He probably didn't get away. I would imagine more police are closing on the position. 5:00 May not be a police car at all. Just someone's random dash cam. 5:45 There are some that do evade for the moment. Many police pursuits are broken off because it just gets too dangerous. Normally it isn't hard to find them later. Probably a very small percentage get away for very long. If a helicopter is involved, it normally will end soon without a chase but even then some do evade airborne pursuit. 7:30 Police car doesn't mean there isn't a perp inside trying to get away. OOPS!! It happens. Even the police make mistakes. 8:16 Yep, that is the perp. Probably because someone left the keys in the car & may have left it running. Starting a foot pursuit then circling back to where the police parked is not unheard of Kabir. There is one aspect that I forgot on your last video, someone that knows they are going back to prison & this time for life, will do almost anything to get away. Slamming into a tree sideways & being killed instantly is a better option for many of them.

you are right about driver at 6 41. dash cams will be reviewed and the tickets will pile up. but the tickets will get dumped if there is enough footage to get him for jailable charges. the tickets are a last resort to hit him with something.

I’m sorry but those uk ones just don’t get the adrenaline going like the American ones. I outran a cop when I was a teenager and got away but I got away before more than 1 cop was involved

In Los Angeles no one gets away because of how many cars there are and how many helicopters they have... In LA if they call for a chopper u can give it a minute an they show up look at some shots fired calls the helicopters are everywhere in a split second I've seen other places an they drive for hours no helicopters u gotta feel bad for those departments in the country

I might have heard of this guy one time that successfully ran from the cops three times but that's probably a work of fiction. Supposedly he passed a cop at 120 but somehow managed to get away. One time when this individual who I've heard of did 135 in a street race and got popped.

In California, if it becomes a hazard to severe, the cops will pull off the chase.

If you've ever watched cops, you know police would be better off yelling run to them because they always do and at least this way the police would be obeyed
