A friend of mine was a plaintiff on Judge Judy...he told me that the show pays all settlements, which is why folks agree to go on the show. It's the "prize" (if you win...or lose, I guess) for being on a "game show."

Judge Judy was on for 25 years from 1996 through 2021. That was followed by Judy Justice which started in 2021 and is still going on.

Judy was a Family Court Judge for 30 years before her show. She got the show for being just the person you see here. I loved watching her after work; it helped with my stress. I wish we had more no-BS judges. Love your reactions, Kabir.

One of my cosmetology instuctors was sued on Judge Judy. My instructor won, got a free plane ticket and night in L.A. and since she won, she got paid $1000 and the girl had to sign an agreement that she wouldnt sue her in "real" court. My instructor was then a LEGEND at our school. Ya didn't mess w her!❤❤

Kabir, I really enjoyed this reaction video - it's a departure from the other stuff I normally see you post. More of this kind of reaction, please! And you gotta love Judge Judy - she doesn't take any crap, she can always smell a lie, and she never has a problem speaking her mind. One of her quotes is still one of my faves (I think she used it as a book title, actually): "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining."

She is exactly like that. She was a family judge in NY--for years--that is where she saw the REALLY ugly side of life. This was a cake walk for her.

My favorite Judge Judy is the plaintiff, an ex girlfriend, sues the ex over an unpaid loan. The defendant kept saying is was a gift so Judge Judy called his mother in her chambers. She came back, giving him hell (mom said he was a mutilator who does this to all the women he is involved with). She kept berating him till he says "It was a loan" to which she immediately granted the plaintiff the money and said CASE CLOSED!

Judge Judy ended her show she had on CBS TV after 20 years. But she has since started another show called Judge Judy Justice which has been running for 2 years or so.

A judge should be no-nonsense and go straight for the facts and nothing else. I do have a problem with the judge who attacks people personally. "You're a bum!" That's about as unprofessional as it gets for a judge. Her job is not to determine whether or not someone is a bum and it certainly isn't to proclaim that someone IS a bum if that's what she believes. "Is this man a bum?" is not the question before the court. Her job is to determined whether or not the plaintiff has met the burden of proof to support their claims.

My sister used to a manager in a store in the mall she and judge Judy live in. So she talked to Judy alot. My sister said she was a really nice lady. Only talked to people like on the show is when they deserve it. Otherwise she's really nice to everyone.

Judge Judy didn't retire; she had a contract dispute with CBS and Amazon made her a better offer so she moved there. However CBS still owns the rights to the Judge Judy name and TV Sgow so she had to create a new show instead called Judy Justice.

Perhaps you don't know that when Justin Bieber was a rich young delinquent, Judge Judy was his next-door neighbour in Beverly Hills. He was so intimidated by her that he would send out a bodyguard to make sure that she wasn't outside before he felt safe leaving the house.

The cases are real. They are filed in small claims court and then apply for the show or the producers find them.

I believe the original People's Court show with Judge Wapner, both parties drop their legal suits in the courts and their problem will be judged and final by Judge Judy. I believe both parties are paid to be on the show and the judgement will be taken from the payment of the losing party's payment from being on the show. So, the losing party does not have to pay from their own pockets for the judgement. I do not think it is worth it to be on TV and embarrassed by what you did and air it on TV and then lose.

These were not the most heated moments of Judge Judy unless the title is referring to judge Judy herself. I was thinking it was referring to the litigants. More than once they acted as if they would fight each other. there was a sister suing her brother and she was the aggressor and wanted to fight her brother when the case was over. Another instance was some teenage girls who had beef with each other and the plaintiff accused the defendant of stealing and the plaintiff won. Afterwards the defendant wanted to fight the plaintiff and Bird had to separate them.

You can file a claim against anybody all it takes is a filing fee at the courthouse If I wanted to I could go down there and follow lawsuit against a ham sandwich they don't care as long as you pay them their filing fee then the losing party lines up paying court cost it's all about the money

She's very good, and her producers are very good. They choose interesting cases. However, she's very opinionated and prejudiced in several ways. She also believes she's above her job and looks down on litigants. I much prefer Judge Marylin Milian of "The People's Court. "
