The best random act of kindness I ever received happened back in 2018. I was homeless, disheveled, needed a shave badly, probably smelled pretty bad. I was sleeping in my car on a hot 40°c day (felt like 50+ inside the car itself) when I heard a tap on my window. I had been parked there for a few days, no idea what I was gonna do next. Was admittedly very close to calling it quits on everything. I moved my pillow from my window and saw this random woman standing there. I assumed she was gonna tell me off, berate me, or tell me to leave. It happens a lot when you're homeless. However I was pleasantly surprised when she handed me a plastic bag that had 3 frozen water bottles, 2 sandwiches, and an apple. She had told me she had seen me there for the last few days, overheard me on my phone one night while I explained my situation through tears to my cousin. She hugged me, and then returned to her home. I never even got her name but I'll never forget that woman for as long as I live. She was my angel that day and quite possibly saved my life.

These videos have me sobbing every time! The one's that deal with being some sort of donor to save lives hit very close to my heart. When my Mom passed, she was an organ donor. At 73, I knew she hadn't taken great care of her body. So the Iowa Donor Network asked if I'd like to find out what she was able to donate. I said yes, not expecting much. They said they'd wait 2 years and let me know. On the 2 year anniversary of her passing, I was having a horrible day missing her and I opened my mail. One of the pieces of mail was from the Iowa Donor Network. That day I found out that Mom had created 29 separate skin grafts that helped many reconstructive surgeries! So, to those who feel they've nothing to give, please reconsider organ donation! I cried that day from sorrow, but also from pride that Mom was able to change so many lives! ❤

I was deep into the "ugly" cry by the end of the second clip. Amazing watching that Mom listen to her baby's heart beating in the little girls chest. I was undone. I loved how the video showed how even the smallest kindness can produce joy. What a world we could be living in......if we really tried.

The giving a meal to the delivery driver brings back memories. I did a delivery was my last one of the day. It was a 12 hr shift at the time and still had a 2 hr drive back to the shop. I delivered a desk. It was in three pieces and and it was a to the door situation. The lady asked me if I could bring it up stairs it was her daughter’s Christmas gift. I told her not a problem at all she even said she would pay more. I told her it’s not an issue.( it was like four steps a landing then 5 more. did brought the first price in and up and the lady was talking to me. I said dang dinner smells good tonight, is it pasta. She was like yes it is my daughter cooked dinner tonight for the family. So I go and bring the rest of the pieces up. I go and tell her your all set ma’am I just need your signature. She hands me a full Tupperware of pasta another with garlic bread and another with cookies. It was some of the best food I had. I took it all with me so freaking happy bc when I was gonna get home it would be around midnight and I wasn’t in the mood to cook. Bc I said I wouldn’t take the extra money before she actually put 100 into a ziplock bag and hid it under the cooks. I didn’t notice tell two days later I was like holy crap. Ps the pasta was amazing and the cookies fire.

Transplants even work at the symbolic comfort level because technically, part of their loved one DOES still live on. The organ taken and put in another still has your loved one’s genetics and DNA. Plus, you can be proud of saving another innocent child’s life. Homelessness is quite an issue, man. There’s things that occur that I just can’t feel safe around, but sometimes it’s also just the fault of economy and outside forces.

I love these kinds of videos and it is great when you actually can do something for someone. And it is therapy and medicine if you deal with physical or mental issues to do nice things, it makes you feel something better than what you are used to. It can be just a small gesture but it can just make your day, it could be buying a homeless person a meal or when I go to work every day I love when I have the chance to meet someone through kindness and pay for their items when their cards are declining or they need something for their kid but have no money to get everything they need and help them, you both are going through something in life but that moment when that all dissipates for a few minutes and you feel that reality and experience, I can't describe it, it's a feeling you can't put into words. Makes me think of the lyric "you don't choose your name, just what you leave in your wake".
@tfrowlett87522 жыл бұрын
