This is a direct result of the green agenda. Shortsighted people want to stop using coal and nuclear. Making Europe reliant upon gas from Russia. Now they can’t buy gas from Russia! Until the Ukraine conflict starts the EU and the UK wanted to ban gas. Resulting in our gas storage capacity being demolished. Now we don’t even have a backup supply of gas. The government said no, because short-sightedness is a feature of British culture these days.

The UK lacks gas storage capacity for overall demand. Europe has roughly 105 bcm (100 billion cubic metres) of gas storage capacity, equating to 22 per cent of annual consumption. By contrast, the UK has just 0.9 bcm of gas storage relative to around 80 bcm. The UK often has a surplus capacity to import LNG. Instead of importing substantial amounts of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in the summer and storing it in winter storage, the UK relies on its production and Norwegian pipeline supplies, ‘topped up’ with LNG imports. Europe, by contrast, has comparatively less LNG import capacity. UK Gas Supply and or Storage, fluctuates constantly, and is managed as such, to ensure the country, that being the UK, is always supplied. However, with WWIII looming, this could all change in an instant....

Why all this fear? Algerian gas flows to Europe for free without any compensation. And since Russia stopped supplying Europe with gas, it can benefit from Algerian gas. And there is no problem with that because of the cold.

Algerian gas currently supplies less than one per cent of our needs.

@dalecrocker3213 President Tebboune said that Algeria has a surplus of electricity that can be exported with a capacity of 12,000 megawatts to Europe, and it has a surplus of gas that can be increased in export and is sufficient within Algeria.

If they only have 7 days worth stockpiled, is that ordinary or do they normally have more? Either way...im both in despair at the news i watch because the Gov.UK business is a shambles; and i am also laughing in the manner of watching a pantomime

Oh I wonder if we had the possibility to burn that black stuff called coal in a power station? Oh hang on didn’t we just turn the last one off a few weeks again. I just love forward thinking.
