Mansa Musa was the African ruler of the Mali Empire in the 14th century. When Mansa Musa, a Muslim, took a pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324 he reportedly brought a procession of 60,000 men and 12,000 slaves. Slavery was prevalent in many West and Central African societies before and during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The richest man ever. King of Mali. I studied it.

In 1833, Britain used £20 million, 40% of its national budget, to buy freedom for all slaves in the Empire. The amount of money borrowed for the Slavery Abolition Act was so large that it wasn't paid off until 2015. Which means that living British citizens helped pay to end the slave trade !!!

As an immigrant myself, I simply cannot understand why the white population in Britain have to beat themselves up over how immigrants should be made to feel and must be made to feel. If this young black man feels so aggrieved about his ancestors please let him fight his feelings from the country of origin. I can't think any foreign person living in Britain today who can trace an ancestor who was brought to Britain as a slave. This is true of the black population in America but we can't kid ourselves that we are the same. Immigrants in this country chose to come here like the white immigrants of America. We came for paid work of our own free will to do jobs that the white people couldn't or won't do. I for one am very grateful for being accepted to do my nurse training and being given a very secure job in the NHS which gave me a steady income with yearly pay rises. I am retired now having paid my dues in income tax, which is what is expected of anyone who wants a decent life here. I am extremely grateful to Britain giving me my citizenship and all the rights that go with it. As a Hindu it was instilled in me that you never bite the hand that feeds you. This is a free country that does not hold back anyone who feels so aggrieved that they are miserable and make everyone else's life a misery. We can always go back to where we came from and maybe try and see if we get the same freedom of speech and freedom to protest as minority groups can do here and take so much for granted. Please just go where you will be happier. I will be very happy to start a collection for you to fly out first class if you promise never to return to make the lives of everyone around you as miserable and bored as he'll from the same story stuck in a groove.

Judging old history by todays modern standards is one of the most stupid idiotic things you can do. They were different times with a different set of values and principals completely incomparable to todays. The man clearly doesn’t know our history and how the Industrial Revolution was started and fuelled. Just look at our geography and huge list of inventors and engineers enough said.

Should we compensate the Pope for tearing down his 900 Catholic abbeys and monasteries in the 1530s?
@Biketunerfy Жыл бұрын
@@stephfoxwell4620 no, I’m catholic and I don’t believe we should for the simple fact we as a people as a country didn’t do anything. If compensation was to happen it should of happened in that century when the victims who were denied a place of preyer and worship were effected. Now we have Catholic Churches everywhere. Some of our churches still stand, it’s just they were hugghhm requisitioned by the Protestant faith and remain as such to today. I’m not going to blame our Christian brothers today they had nothing to do with it so no I do not believe we should compensate the Catholic Church. I believe as God teaches us to forgive and forget.

Britain can be proud of its record on slavery. We should be thanked for what we did. Funny how they don't ask the Africans for reparations as they enslaved them and sold them. North African Muslims and the Turks had a very long history of slavery in their own nations...they just get a pass.

There was nothing to stop any of those countries of black Africa from becoming powerful, economically successful , engineering, culture . Maybe that is where these people need to focus their minds . Many of those countries are rich in natural resources. What is their history?

Did someone ever suggest how people might understand how fortunate we all are to be able to be born live and work in this great country. Formed mainly through the challenges and ingenuity of hundreds of years of communities coming together in diverse regions of the UK. We grew together to share the wealth and benefits of being equally individually responsible to the community for the benefit of all. A marvellous feat full of the grace of those who participated. Might I suggest that had their educational and Judeo Christian religious teachings not been founded on the bible the outcome may have been entirely different. One could also suggest that if the religiously racist supremacist Islam had been their foundation, instead of the Uk we might have ended up like Pakistan.

By the same idea of slavery, alot of convicts sent to Australia in 1788 were convicted on trumped-up charges because they were poor and Britain wanted a colony, maybe all white Australians require compensation too under this premise for the hardship and forced relocation?
