I wonder if all the dislikes were of British people disliking the fact that human rights abuses were exposed in their country. Some Britons seem to believe they and their country are all much more moral and less corrupt than other developed countries, such as America and countries in Europe. However, it would be a false generalization to say they are all that way, or even half of them. The Brits in this video that work to end modern day slavery are great examples of that, and they should be thanked for their work.

It's funny that when confronted with reality, numerous people here have responded with "well, what about xyz country." If that's your first reaction, you've completely missed the point of the video. Other countries, say Qatar for example, are known to abuse their foreign workers. What's not known is that something very similar occurs in the UK, a jewel of modern western values. Instead of trying to equate and normalize such abuse by saying it happens in other places as well, we should be be looking into figuring out how we can prevent this from occurring in our own land.

when simplified to it's most basic form I guess you could say that.. but it's kinda like saying "isn't communism just living without money?" yes..... but.. it's a bit more to it. Modern Capitalism is about as anti-slavery as you can get.. Free Market Consumerism (like what you have in the US and I'll assume Europe and the UK) pretty much wants a free and open market for everyone to put ideas and products forward and wants everyone to make money so the population can purchase lots of goods... in that respect you're kinda shooting yourself in the foot as a society if you go after slaves since you're depriving yourself of wage earners and thus folks who can buy things and feed the economy.

okay so its nice that you do these documentaries but why not get the police involved and arrest that car wash guy instead of out his victims to him so that after you walk away youve now angered a violent man that probably went and hurt those guys? the big businesses should not be allowed to just deny their part in it. it needs to come to a legal point of holding these individual people and these businesses as a whole responsible for this. one time i was being held at a house by a guy with my boyfriend as he played with a knife. we understood the threat so i texted someone to call the police and the stupid cops said right in front of that guy what i did and even though we got out at that time since the guy didnt actually hurt us the cops did nothing and they didnt care. he later stabbed me after stalking us and beating up my boyfriend another time. police need to understand victim fear and you and the police need to understand predator mentality and that they lash out very violently mentally and physically if they sre not punished and if the victim is not rescued and protected. Did you follow up again and again and put pressure on the police about the vietnamese guy? because its easier for the cops to just charge him and be done with it and that guy might not snitch on his slavers because they threatened him and manipulated him before hand. i just watched another doc about the maltese government and with that evidence everyone including the president should have been immediately jailed not just statement issued and denials accepted. if youre going to do this you have a greater responsibility to accomplish what is hoped for needs to actually be done. please do more than just report because youre putting people in greater danger if you dont actually save them.

There is no reason why any of the things mentioned so far 3:00 would be either unique or worse in UK, especially compared to say continental Europe, unless the already far more cosmopolitan populace of UK is a factor. Any migrants to UK that are llegal pass through most of Europe via land route, for example, and those arriving via sea have it far easier landing in southern or eastern Europe. You can find a video of Al Jazeera covering slavery in Dubai...in... 2008. They've also covered the terrible conditions that migrants receive in Arab nations, including slavery, but hey, let's not let facts get in the way of your bigotry eh?

+Kristopher Workman which is why everyone has a role to put a stop to it, if we don't do something then the likelihood is it will get worse, because corruption spreads. it must stop right now, if things get any worse I will personally see an end to these things myself, I will somewhat join a campaign to prevent this from carrying on because if I dont it will get worse, it is not acceptable and should never happen.

CLIPPER LOGISTICS, an opressive wearhouse system. 40 'sites' have been built in the UK. They have a current contract with ASDA, to abuse workers under the guise of distributing clothes. GEORGE CLOTHES. The Northeast of Britain has the most vunerable working class. I worked as an 'agency' worker on the WYNYARD BUSINESS SITE, 12 hour shifts of mind/muscle numbing psysical work that machines should be built for, the only food that they provided was just a few vending machines, just stuff to keep us going. Scanned by sercurity like an airpot, arms straight ect and sacked by the psychopathic head of HR 'SANDRA PICKERING' for wearing damaged work boots. and I worked a month and a half (doing exactly the same thing ive been doing for a year and a half WITH NO PAY untill evertually getting 'sacked'. I Couldn't even afford new boots in the end. The company got away with it as they classed it as a 'course' I have a feeling she's pulled that technique in the past. The sercurity were actually nice people I could talk to but it was the head of human resources that had no empathy with any of the working class. A corporate psychopath. I only seen her twice, I worked there for a year an a half and she's meant to be the one in control. She was infamous for sacking loads of people every month and would never mingle with any of the workers. She has one big 'rightsious' ego too just like the employer at the end of the video. There are a lot of 'lost' souls there whether it is Britain's working class or foreign people from lots of different countries. I really feel bad for them. Im not from a working class background, I went to university, but I live in Hartlepool and there's just not a lot of Jobs where I live, so I used Clipper Logistics as a 'stop gap' after uni. The conditions people have to work in to survive in 2017 is sick. The details I just mentioned above are just the tip of the iceberg of Clipper Logistics. It's something that has to be experienced to believe... and Clipper Logisics won't be the only modern slavery site in the UK either. It happens to a lot of the working class in general, expecially the Northeast and should be stopped.

Pretty much it John. The thing is, that AJ was one of the first news outlets to cover modern day slavery in the Arab world too. They were one of the first news outlets that broke that news. They even made a documentary on slavery in Dubai... 8 years ago, but hey bigoted people generally aren't fussed about inconvenient things like..facts

If they are put behind the bars many of them'll eventually be released and return to those. There is a need for either permanent control over them after release or preventing them from getting outside

Well no offence but how can someone stay in their own country if they have been forced, or if they have been bundled in a car while they were sleeping, and it's possible they could have been blackmailed (they could say: we know where your mother is, we will kill her.) And obviously they would be too scared to refuse. Please think and do your research before you comment something like this.

If the UK legalized and taxed (their favorite thing) marijuana, set up a tracking system like some states in the US had done, then they could have not only public coffers lined to help fight against this type of slavery, but people could hold real jobs, not steal electricity, and not be exposed to hazardous work conditions. It seems to have worked well in Oregon, where people voluntarily work in the cannabis culture, don't get sick from it (because most pesticides and fertilizers that aren't natural are banned), earn a wage, and, I swear, we're keeping the paper business alive and laboratories get plenty of time and business testing for illegal things, like pesticides and other banned substances. Additionally, we have a medical program in this state where people with certain conditions can get marijuana as medicine - no sales tax, write off the cost on your income taxes since insurance won't cover it's costs, and higher amounts you can legally possess and grow compared to recreational individuals. Not sure I can make any suggestions for the car washes, but I hope we can be a model to the world that marijuana is medicine, not just a plant to condemn in all forms.
