You are wrong or more likely inaccurate and confusing a wealth generation cycle that advantages a super elite in the west. Oligarchs, how the terms is used today, means kleptocrat and most commonly Russian kleptocrats because besides China, Russia has the most oligarchs/kleptos. Basically, those whose wealth is stolen directly or nearly so from the government and resources that should belong to the country. Kleptocracy is much more common outside the US and the West in countries with virtually no rule of law. In the US and Europe, we have many who are wealthy from or a combination of rigged stock market, legacy wealth which imparts an unfair advantage in capital and basically a small group of super wealthy who use their financial advantage to keep growing their share of the pie in a way that is unhealthy for society.

Lol there is no such thing in Canada, it seems you think your reality is everyone's reality. Or you confuse dominators (whatever that means), businessman and oligarch. Oligarchs are rich businessmen who are close to the seat of power and are using that power to get richer without competition. So basically businessmen corrupting politicians. Or politicians corrupting businessmen. In Canada, if you do this, you will be accused of fraud, collusion, etc. Of course some people try it anyway, some get arrested, some get away with it but it's relatively rare. My former neighbor told me he imigrated from India because he was tired of corruption among other things. Personally, my family is quite rich so I know quite a few people that you might think are corrupted because they are rich but the truth is that while many people try to avoid to pay taxes (still they end up paying a lot), the rich got rich because they did the things other people were not capable or couragous enough to do : study a lot, work 24/7, saving money instead of speading, invest money, take huge risks, try hard projects, hire people, motivate people, etc. They created value. Yes many people are trying to work the least and earn the most and I guess it's normal somehow. But no oligarchs are not everywhere but maybe corruption is everywhere in your country ?

Impressively good job. Why can't the West's politicians put a stop to this kind of money laundering? Could the reason be that they are in the same boat?

It hasn’t been proven yet that Trump was a money launderer for decades. I think he is far from alone & the powers that be fear their own exposure, so for now the unsubstantiated claims of crime is all we have to go on.

As a normal labour man in Belgium there are some rules if you handel with YOUR money. NO CASH above €3000. It means if you will buy a bike, a car or some furniture for your appartment it al must go via a bank and a bank account so they can trace your money ... in some parts of the world there are other rules ...

unrelated, but this kind of ownership structure that was used for fincorp and those other ones below it, is also prevalent in the US, using llc, and states like wyoming and delaware have this same type of non-disclosure type of laws where the owner doesnt need to be on the articles of incorporation. take from that what you will. edit: also wanted to add that Deutsche Bank has been fined hundred of millions of dollars, for failure to file SAR's properly. JPMorgan Chase got fined $2 billion dollars in 2014 for the same thing. I used to be a bank teller, it really is the easiest thing to file, it takes like 5-10 minutes. And not doing so should result in some kind of internal audit at the least. Im sure these types of transactions should have been reviewed by the back office of the banks that were named. Though they might see these sized transactions hundred of times every day, they should still be looked at.

In one sentence: Nothing happens far from the eyes of Western governments. Most of the money robbed from the countries you ranked third world or developing are either in your banks, shares in your companies, invested in in real estates or some other parts of your economy.
@brucemarsico62 жыл бұрын
What about the wealthy that rule your country? Don't they rob from the poor there? Don't they deposit their gains in western banks....live lavishly in your country and in other countries as well? It's obvious you've not been on the Cote d'Azure...so many of the thieving wealthy from the third world are there, spending freely and being entertained.....you don't know this?
@unes83072 жыл бұрын
@@brucemarsico6 I don't know which country you're talking about but obviously I did mention money robbed from countries like probably yours are of course deposited in western banks in Switzerland, UK, USA to name some BUT, BUT these corrupted governments are under the western umbrella, they support them in one sentence without the West they could be gone

The first time I saw Al Jazeera news, it was on cable tv. At that time it was run by, what I thought was a terrorist country. To see this excellent investigative reporting 30 years later, is interesting, because it shows how reporting sources can change drastrically, with the time. I hope it leads to solutions to global corruption.
@stevelang69902 жыл бұрын
The reporting sources didn't change, history proved that you were wrong 30 years ago. Remember, 30 years ago was 1992, chances are that you were a patriotic supporter of the United States and the first Gulf War, and dismissed Al Jazeera because unlike US journalists, that were mostly patriotic propaghandists for the US Government, Al Jezeera had acutual investigative journalists. :)
@stevelang69902 жыл бұрын
In 1992, Al Jezeera was reporting on issues such as, how American military presence in Saudi Arabia, used as a launching point for the Gulf war, was extremely destabilizing in the Islaamic world. This got little reporting in the US. The CIA has since disclosed that US trained Osama Bin Laden's primary motivation for his horrific attack on the US in 911, was the American (Infidel) military presence in Saudi Arabia, seat of Holy Mecca.

The property manager of the multi-unit, commercial property, owned by a local authority in which I am one of the tenants, recently told me of an incident whereby two electricians were employed to move an electrical distribution board from one side of a corridor to the opposite wall. The work took two days over one weekend. The property manager received a bill for over £90,000. He questioned the bill and he was told not to question it and to authorise payment. 32 hours of labour and some extra meters of cable, all for £90,000.00. Nice!!!

Nonsense. A job like that would require bids or an estimate. Your property manager was getting a kick back.

Well done, Al Jazeera. Make another one. Next documentary up would naturally be one about how a state ruled by oligarchs, a government who does not tolerate free press but closes tv-stations and newspapers critical to authorities, can get support from USA and the European Union - with massive monetary funding - year after year?

I would like to see a lot more about American oligarchs. There is little to no information on who they are, where they are, & what they do, other than influence up to 84% of the laws passed by Congress. Who in Congress & the Executive branch do the American oligarchs influence? In communications? They have been sitting in the shadows long enough.
