Having the commander in his own little turret was quite novel tbh. An early form of hunter-killer system.

I think that there was a recovery version of this Tank though very few were made.

I saw the recovery version in Bulford garrison in the early nineties . I was in 222 armoured signal squadron , part of 3 armoured Div Signals Regt. One day it was just sat there on the parade square. It was painted the old ''TA'' green and I have exactly no idea what it was doing there or why. We had it there for a couple of days and then it was gone. Seemed to be in working order.

If only the gun really was stabilized both horizontally and vertically… In reality the gun will be left to freely flop up and down while the vehicle was in motion, because it was deemed too hard to stabilize a 3 ton gun… I call that lazy because even the Soviets could with the T-10A 122mm. The Conqueror gunner would have to wait for the tank to stop, wait another 5 seconds as the gun decides to stop flopping and the hydraulic laying system pressures back up.
