Owned many of the Swoppet figures as a kid back in the early '70's along with some Herald and Britains deetail figures. Received the Confederate artillery piece as a Birthday present about 1973. My favourite piece along with the standard bearers from each side. Sadly many have disappeared over the years but did manage to replace the cannon with a mint boxed Union version about 12 years ago for about €10.00 off Ebay imported from the US to the UK, an absolute bargain! Anyone interested in the ACW would definitely recommend the movies "Glory", "Gettysburg" and the tv series "North an South" if you have not already seen them. Best wishes from England.

Wow, what an excellent collection of Britains ACW Swoppets. I've got about 80 pieces plus a few cowboys myself which I've collected in recent years to add to what I had as a kid 50+ years ago...

Awesome..its swoppet appreciation time! I'm looking at 108 pieces now with some Britains and First Legion metal thrown in: flag bearers, drummers ,officers some of which I bought 15 yrs ago.. Working with Featherstone rules tho I am aware of others which differ. Its fun.. a great hobby. Sounds like we are having similar experiences. I never knew they were called swoppets until a few yrs ago.

Wow! Terrific! Swoppets and Eyes Right are prone to cracking as they become brittle with age!
@alexgramm51703 жыл бұрын
Hi...yes the 60's edition are more brittle..however I have been able to find the 70's AWI online and very good to mint condition.

They are in great condition. Sadly some of my Swoppets have not fared well over the years.

I have been purchasing swoppets the last couple of years; even recently ,through suggestion of Jimmy to check out Ebay, which has resulted in some good deals for me. I have definitely noticed that the older ones from the mid-60s are much more brittle then the ones I'm also purchasing from the mid-70s. Anyway, as it is Rev War 250 I am looking to build an army that represents all units involved ;will take some time. The Brits will be his Majesty's 23rd Regiment of foot.. the Royal Welch fusiliers.

@@alexgramm5170 Excellent Alex...yes mine were mostly from the 1960's...I was born in 1960. Yet some I bought as a 'big kid' have fallen apart sadly too. But i still have a lovely collection which I am proud of which also include the Britains Zoo animals from that period.

@@michaelthornley I'm a 66 edition myself! Ha! They do have quite a variety of swops. The knights are particularly colorful. Ebay and Etsy have many. I have a bit of the collecting bug now.

I collected a full set of union and confederate armies. Just a few battered pieces left now. They are much missed.

I have a few reference books on Rev War soldiers. I've been making miniature stone walls they look good. Long live swoppets!

@@alexgramm5170 They were too expensive for me. I waited and finally started with a very big collection off Ebay. The larger the collection the cheaper each piece.

So great! ..did you add the backpack gear yourself? I've been building on AWI swoppets I purchased in 1980. Had about 15 total Brits and Continentals now about 30 a side with Britain's and First Legion metal commanders and flag bearers..drummers. Im enjoying this hobby immensely.
