With perfect sunshine due along the Kent coast, 70000 Britannia took charge of the antepenultimate Steam Dreams Garden of England circular from London Victoria to Dover.
For this trip I embarked on a chase with four shots planned. Beginning at Bickley, Britannia is seen thundering her train up the bank through the station, captured from St George's Rd. The next shot at Selling was always going to be tight, but unfortunately I was beset by road works near Bickley costing me valuable minutes, not helped with Britannia running early. As I pulled in I heard the words 'look its coming' from the spectators on the platform, and the whistle as I ran onto the bridge. Leaving it in more for the audio value, my 'better than nothing' handheld shot sees the Brit pounding through the station as it approaches the Canterbury East water stop.
The next shot and highlight of the day would see the Brit along the Dover seawall shortly after departure from Dover Priory. The weather conditions were perfect for the occasion as the engine is heard barking her train away from the restriction on the curve and onwards towards Folkestone. Finally, having overtaken the train during its stop at Paddock Wood, Britannia is seen cruising past Filston Lane near Dunton Green, on its final leg back to the capital.
