JUSTICE FOR SIDHU - An exclusive evening with the parents of Sidhu Moosewala by BritAsia TV
Following the tragic and shocking death of Sidhu Moosewala, BritAsia TV was humbled to welcome and host a special evening with Sardar Balkaur Singh Sidhu Ji and Mata Charan Kaur Ji, the parents of Shubhdeep Singh, known globally as Sidhu Moosewala.
Upon the humble invitation of BritAsia TV, the parents agreed to leave Punjab for the first time following the tragedy of their son.
In this exclusive event outside of Panjab, it was the first time the parents spoke openly about Sidhu's life, his childhood, his rise to fame, the threats and shared his last moments.
Hosted at the iconic Symphony Hall in UK, this non profit, free community event was sold out and attended by over 2,000 people from across UK and saw people flying in from Europe to attend this unique event.
The night was full of emotion and sorrow as the parents shared their beloved memories of Shubhdeep Sidhu as a child, reminiscing moments of laughter and joy and spoke about the loving relationship and unbreakable bond he shared with his parents.
The evening opened with BritAsia TV presenters Soni Kaur, Tej Samra and Nae interviewing Aman Hayer and Benny Dhaliwal, both sharing unheard stories of being on tour as the official live band of Sidhu Moosewala.
Our own Tindy Kaur further hosted a remote live link with renowned Punjabi artists Jazzy B, Gulab and Ekam, each who paid tribute and acknowledged the amazing musical talent of Sidhu Moosewala and the legacy he leaves behind.
After a very emotional and heart gripping video, the parents blessed the stage to a heartfelt a capella of 'Maa' in an unheard version by Sidhu Moosewala. This powerful, yet emotional entry left everyone in tears followed by an upstanding applause and cheers as the parents walked onto the stage.
It was incredible to see the sheer courage and determination of the parents, who for over 2 hours shared their memories of Sidhu, a playful and hardworking child who was raised in a humble household, who was respectful and loving of his parents and even after reaching global fame, he still would wake up to give morning cuddles with his parents.
The audience was given the opportunity to ask their questions to the parents, including a lady of English heritage, expressing her absolute love and appreciation for Sidhu and his music. It was clear music had crossed all boundaries and was iconic within the mainstream industry.
Before the evening drew to a close, BritAsia TV CEO Tony Shergill joined the parents with a banner #justiceforsidhumoosewala, leading to a standing ovation with groundshaking roars of "WE WANT JUSTICE!... WE WANT JUSTICE!"
The evening closed with the father of Sidhu Moosewala stepping to the front of stage, giving the famous 'tappi' associated with Sidhu in a bid to show his love to all those who travelled from afar.
Audiences rushed to the stage to touch the feet of the parents and to give them encouragement that the whole UK Punjabi community stood by them during this difficult time.

I attended this very emotional interview. I am a cancer patient and was very ill but was determined to meet them and I drove to Birmingham to see them. Its the biggest thing I have done I 3 yrs as I'm too weak to drive outside my city. I wanted to show my support for justice to Sidhu. I see why Shubdeep Singh was a legend… look at his parents so humble, intelligent,hold themselves with great dignity, they have the courage to sit in a conference like this so dignified and composed even though it’s not even been a year since their beloved son passed… just wow… I feel his parents are also legends for the way they brought up their son and the way they handled things …. Thanks to Brit Asia TV for hosting it. I attended the event and everything was greatly managed. The only thing I would say is that Brit Asia should have allocated more time for the people to ask questions to Sidhu's parents as they only gave 5 minutes and asked 3-4 people. As I was in one of the backside rows I kept raising my hand. Sidhu was really really close to my heart. I wanted to tell his parents how sidhu has helped me throughout these years and because of him I defeated one of the biggest illnesses. I wanted to tell them how their son has helped save my life by not letting me commit suicide. I might not get this chance again in my life to tell them all this.... But I am still happy that I got to see them. Thank you Brit asia for calling them to the UK ! Hopefully one day My dream will come true and I will tell them everything.
