British Army Windproof Smock comparison [ENG]

There are many versions of the windproof smock available. I think I have every version so I decided to make a video about the differences. They are really subtle but in PCS-version the changes are a bit bigger. So, if you don't know what version to buy, watch this video.

Couple of days ago I managed to find the latest version of the smock from Ebay in my size. That one has Gore-tex (mvp) liner so basically if you get that, you never need to carry extra waterproof jacket around. I'll make a short review video on that when it arrives, should be within a week or so.

Very good review. The older version of mtp and newest version of dpm were both using the soldier 95 clothing system which did a good job for since 1995. Army smocks are phenomenal - you can't find a coat as hardwaring as these.

Check out the new mark 2 pcs smock or mark 3. It has got rid of the internal netting and the side pockets to warm your hands is zipped....its simply a lot better

Best smocks in my opinion are the old DPM 22Reg gaberdine cotton ones and also now available in MTP same jacket as the DPM version but right shoulder pocket slightly moved also level peaks and Odin tactical make great smocks for private purchase M.O.D. Approved.

Connell MacCool yes the Level Peaks Version is good. It’s not just ‘approved’, but also issued. The issue Version have different labels though.

I have one in desert DPM, with pretty lightweight rip-stop fabric. It has the same pockets but lacks the shoulder pockets. It has a detachable hood, and a zipper and velcro closure. It's labeled "Jacket, DPM FIELD DESERT." Would anyone know which version this is?

It’s a field jacket in desert dpm. Not a windproof smock.

@@Nathan-jh1ho No, I don't know the real reason but I guess UK army liked the design of it. It's pretty much the same jacket but the material is much better on the windproof ones.

@@Nathan-jh1ho You have the early version of the same jacket/smock. The early CS95 windproof smocks all came in ripstop with detachable hoods and were labelled either Jacket, DPM FIELD DESERT or Jacket, DPM FIELD TEMPERATE depending on the camo. The ripstop tended to fade and fray so they replaced it with polycotton. It's at that point the labels started reading SMOCK COMBAT. But other than the hood it's the same CS95 pattern. The shoulder pocket only appeared on the mid-period smocks, the early ones and the later ones just had the velcro.

2fast4ualso Kyllä se ihan kestävää on. Ongelmaksi muodostuu että se tarttuu velcroon ja sitten menee nopeasti huonon näköiseksi. Varsinkin nuo tuuliläpän velcrot on aina siinä linerissä kiinni ja mä laitoin velcrojen päälle täpät jotta ei niin tekisi. Takki tosin olisi parempi ilman koko lineriä.
