Got issued one of these smocks which I still have when I was in Bosnia in 1992/93

British stuff may not always be the best, but they did perfect the smock. Recently got the S95 dpm smock without hood, and I love it

Thanks for sharing 👍. Finally found one in a large size a couple of weeks ago in a Dutch Army dump store. Interestingly, it has both the arm pockets, but still retains the rank tab on the back. Needs some work, wire is missing and the velcro no longer sticks, so I plan to replace that. Happy to have found one!

I was issued this jacket in early 1980 when posted to Hereford it came without a wired hood and did have both arm pockets. Rank slide on front only. Never was issued with the windproof trousers we used lightweights instead.

Great review. These were good kit for their time. I have a MkII version, dated 1996 and with the 1990s smaller DPM pattern, which I used when hiking. The wire in my hood also snapped so I removed it.

The so called "SAS" windproof and Arctic windproof smocks are actually slightly different, the one you have is the Arctic windproof.
@eiremilitarycollectibles12383 жыл бұрын
yes the sas and arctic ones get mixed up a lot

The first one I ever had lasted about an hour, only because I had to push my way through a black thorn hedge outside crossmaglen ! But I brilliant piece of kit, always wore mine long to keep out the bitter wind from my back and of course the lower pockets were great for carrying two mars bars and a can of coke 🤣
@eiremilitarycollectibles12383 жыл бұрын
them bloody hedges did more damage than anything else . the pockets can fit a lot of mars and coke in them

When you say the Windproof trousers that go with the smock has a FFD pocket on them, did you say it’s on the grime or groin? I couldn’t quite tell what you said due to the accent.
@eiremilitarycollectibles12383 жыл бұрын
groin one the old pants on the new ones the FFD went to the arm
