Everything armor was mainly designed to stop HEAT rounds and rockets. notice that chaubum is mainly made of Thermo-insulating materials and fibers, along with your base armor composite. so if you do everything right in any modern tank, you Could bounce a shell or two, and definitely stop HEAT. but if you make one little mistake its easy for other tanks to pen with APDSFS rounds than with RPGs. Also, GAME BALANCE.

Just so you know, the chally 1 mk.3 will not have any composite armor on the lower plate, all it has is ERA, which is only good vs heat rounds. The mk.3 does get better turret armor though if I recall.
