Same here. I am secretly waiting for him back to acting. This show is brilliant, but he said he wants to be an actor since he was a kid, so, I really hope one day he will back to acting.

I'm sure that's what'll happen in a few years. By the time his contract with CBS is up, James will only be in his early 40s -- still quite young. He's said in interviews that the biggest attraction was being able to keep regular hours and still come home to be with his wife and kids almost every night. He pointed out, "as far as I can tell, no one ends up on a therapist's chair saying: “My dad was around too much giving me too many cuddles.” Actors in movies and plays have to travel a lot ... even when James was doing The Wrong Mans series 2, just 4 episodes, he had to be away from his family for more than a month, and go to the other side of the world (South Africa). I have a couple of friends who are in acting, and they confirmed that it can be really tough to have a normal life with that kind of schedule. After he finishes his time with the show, both his children will be school age. His family might even be able to travel with him if he goes to NY to do a play etc. -- he's going to meet a LOT of people in the entertainment industry so he'll have no end of contacts. That, along with the financial independence he'll get (I'm suspecting he's going to be banking most of his CBS salary, since he doesn't seem to have a reputation for wild spending habits), will mean that for the rest of his working life he'll be able to focus on the projects he really believes in and wants to do. That's a pretty amazing thing for an artist to have that kind of creative freedom. It sounds like the first year was pretty tough for James ... he admits that he gets homesick, and really missed his friends and relatives back in the UK. But he's off to a great start -- getting a lot of new fans, assembling a top-notch team, and winning a couple of Emmy awards probably helped ease his worries! I suspect he'll be moving back to London once he finishes this gig, but I wouldn't be surprised if he maintains a residence in LA from then on. He's said he's really enjoying writing scripts and performing them, so I'd be willing to bet that he'll eventually be setting up his own production company, to make sure that these projects get made the way he wants them to. Some of the best stuff he's been in over the past few years is what he's written himself, and with luck we can look forward to decades of work from him.

Yes. I believe he'll definitely back to theatre. He always says that he misses acting and theatre so much. And his acting needs to be recognized more. But I think he already has his own production company "Fulwell 73", it was founded by his best friends, and James is like their unofficial member.
