It's a kind of balm to the soul to see so many honour Queen Elizabeth and mourn her passing. Yes, she lived a 'priviledged' life, but my God, she sacrificed personally for the role she was born into. She faithfully served her people and she didn't put a foot wrong. She lived her life with dignity and integrity and always put her duty before her own desires. I hope she knew how much she was admired and loved. The world has changed. We will never see her like again.

As an American, her tribute to the United States in the aftermath of 9/11 spoke volumes. Seeing her sitting all alone in the church during the funeral of her beloved husband broke my heart. When I learned of her passing, it was like losing my own beloved grandmother all over again. I'm still crying, and I don't think I ever will. I watched the weddings of all three of her sons, then William and then Harry's. She was a source of comfort to those two young men after the death of Princess Diana. May they all find comfort in knowing their beloved grandmother is reunited once more with their grandfather and Princess Diana. She said it best. "Grief is the price you pay for love." No truer words have ever been said. God Bless The Queen 😭💔

She became Queen on the exact day I was born. My mother was in London with the U.S. War Department from 1943-1945. I'll always remember my mother moving the TV so she could watch WinstonChurchill's funeral. I asked what was that (procession & ceremonies). When she said it was Churchill's funeral I asked, "was he great?" With profound emotion she said: "he was the greatest man of the century". Those whom lived and worked during the war are effectively all gone. It was a time history will hold as the most perilous for the world.

I live in the USA, that country created by all those Englishmen back then. Whether you Brits like it or not, I guess. Anyway, she was a remarkable and ingenious woman whose values of service, duty and love were eternal and powerful. She definitely deserved the title her majesty and her positive impact and influence on the world with encountering countless world leaders contributed an enormous protective stability to the world order. Her value in that area was immeasurable. As well as invaluable. To say the least. She clearly is the only role model out there for American young girls to emulate and she might as well be the personification of what an American should try to be. I'd hang her portrait in every American school classroom. Particularly the girl's schools.

as an american, i never really had an understanding of the monarchy and any importance it could have had in today's world - today i have an understanding and respect for the tradition and the historical importance of the monarchy - and i hope it will last forever until the end of time - i do believe the world needs to have this in our midst - as a standard and beacon of civility, respect, reverence, historical perspective - Queen Elizabeth II lived a remarkable life and was a most wonderful patriot of her country - may she live forever in the hearts and minds of the British people, and the world who will remember her
@tomnicholson21152 жыл бұрын
What a lot of Americans fail to understand is that the monarchy belongs to us here in the United Kingdom, we may be their subjects but they only exist here because they are as subject to us. Remember what Oliver Cromwell did to a king that pushed to far and you'll know that the monarchy exists by invitation and not so much by divine right! Also remember that for most of the past 400years it's been parliament that made the decisions for Britain, and you'll maybe feel less antagonism for the monarchy over here, (not you perhaps, but a lot of Americans and some British people do feel antagonism against the royals). Long live the King.

Losing Philip was last straw that broke her back, she seemed to diminish after that, in stature and presence, couldn't believe how tiny she looked in last public photos of her with Liz Truss, or in Paddington clip, she held herself up and together well, but something of her spirit was gone. So sad to see. But the double rainbows appearing over Buckingham Palace just before her death was officially announced was like her last message to country and people that she was happy and in a better place now, reunited with Philip (double rainbow) and all her other loved ones who had gone before,but she would still be keeping a watch over the Palace (Royal Family) and the country and because of that every would work out well with King Charles reign, and ongoing. Okay, it could just have been coincidence but I don't believe in coincidence and choose to see it as last message to us all and to comfort us in our grief be for her loss. She will always be with us, she is as immortal as many had come to believe her to be, because we are all immortal in reality, life ever-lasting. We are made of nothing but energy, and that energy cannot die. The garment that is the body we wear can obviously wear out and thus must be discarded (what we refer to as death) but we ourselves as energy alone live on always. The Queen hasn't left us at all. She is more omnipotent now than she ever was in "life"! God Bless.

I don’t think, as an American, I can easily grasp exactly what the extraordinary woman the late queen was. She was born into a position of service, but not in the capacity she expected. To be so young and suddenly be the figurehead of a nation goes beyond what could be expected. She led her nation, and world as a ruler invested in tradition, courage and unending dignity. It is highly unlikely her kind will come again. God bless her soul. Long live the King.

The crown estate earns £350 million per annum on average. And they recieve about 25 to 30% of it in funding, and rest goes to British People. In case the monarchy is abolished, the agreement gets nullified, and the family owns the whole of it. So, it is actually beneficial for the people.

But all (except Witherspoon, perhaps) had connections with the UK, or had met the Queen: Clinton's Rhodes Scholarship and state visits w/HM; Diana Ross's numerous performances, including the last/platinum Jubilee; and Billie Jean King's 20 championship wins at Wimbledon. The Queen went above and beyond the call of duty -- working until the very last. May she rest in peace. ❤
