One of my favorite things to see was that once you crossed into upper Montana and then into British Columbia, the rivers suddenly changed from clear blue to an amazing milky turquoise color from all of the rock flour deposited into the waters !

Once we got to the Canadian border, all the rivers turned from clear blue to a beautiful milky turquoise color from all the rock flour deposited by runoff. Simply gorgeous

I agree, I think this is one of the most beautiful drives in BC. TOP 3 drives for sure, one of my other favourites is Rogers Pass. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXPMoppnm9N4jbM

My late Bride and I travelled northern BC Alaska and the Yukon for two months in 2005. Highlights included Dawson City Yk. ,Atlin BC, Chicken Ak. and Prince Rupert It was unique in that they have restored a fish cannery that offers the old single men’s residence as a hostel. We stayed three nights then took the ferry to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. Wonderful country.

This guy did really have an amazing adventure, however, I don't understand why he wouldn't take what ended up for me to be the best part of the whole trip. That was putting our vehicle on the auto ferry and exploring the inland passage all the way back to Vancouver! It would have cost him less in gasoline than to backtrack the whole way by car!

My friend Chip and I made a trip from Lake Tahoe with a first stop being Glacier Park for the Huckleberry festival, then we went across into Canada to Waterton lakes Park which is just The Canadian half of this huge national park. From there we drove through the ice field highway visiting Banff and Jasper on a slightly different route from the one that this person is taking in some parts mostly the first part of his journey because he started out in Vancouver. On the way, we stopped in Prince George for dinner, then continued on toward eventually, Prince Rupert where we boarded the auto ferry and took the trip down the inland passage. Chip spent most of his time resting indoors and sleeping in the upper lounge because we didn't bother to book a cabin. I spent the entire time up on the upper deck watching dolphins and porpoises and whales, also every inlet had spectacular array of totem poles, some of which were existing villages, and, others were abandoned villages. On the way, we stopped near Burns Lake where there were some bears feasting on berries. I got out and walked over toward them much to the dismay of other people who are parked there taking pictures. Most of them yelled at me" don't go near the bears"!. I ignored them and got within about 10 ft of these bears who were too busy eating to pay much attention to me and I got some great photos. Anyway, all in all it was an amazing journey and I wish I could do it again

Thank you. I was just trying to figure out if I should do the BC ferry round-trip or drive one way. You've convinced me to see more of the interior of BC. Too beautiful to miss all your suggestions and will definitely stop at those recommended visitor center.
