Just a point of interest - In the Northern Midwest there’s White Castle which was founded in 1921 and is the oldest hamburger fast food restaurant chain in the US. They serve tiny square hamburgers known as “sliders” Krystal is loosely based on White Castle's sliders, was founded in 1932 and is found in the South Eastern US.
@DashRiprock513

I concur.. The reason they call sliders is because they slide right through you... And we called the French fries 'spikes' Because if you don't eat them quickly they turn into cold little spikes. So yeah sliders and spikes was a thing.

if you do biscuits right they are nothing like scones lol. My grandma made scones every Friday night or Saturday morning depending on her schedule. Biscuits are more moist in my opinion. But I make biscuits and gravy pretty regularly at home (its my husband's favorite) but I use hot ground pork sausage, the gravy stuff, and biscuits. Simple and delicious. Oh and the cherry limeaid from sonic is amazing too. I stopped drinking soda and sugary drinks unless I am sick or a few specific fast food drinks and cherry limeaid is on that list.

I once had an argument with someone in the comments of a Try Channel video once. She _insisted_ scones and American biscuits were exactly the same, since they both contained _eggs._ She absolutely refused to believe me when I told her that none of the 50+ biscuit recipes I've gathered call for eggs.

When I was 11, we moved from Texas to Denver, CO. When I was 13, I took a home economics class where she taught us to make scones. Definitely not like any biscuits I had in Texas. Living in Texas now, there are some places that make good biscuits, but others, not so much. And it probably depends on how your mother made them. I like "the crust" but other prefer the soft middle, also assuming they are hot. Some versions lose a lot of flavor as they cool.

The drinking and driving laws limit the Taco Bell cantina concept because the law states no open containers and you get caught you go to jail. This is why liquor stores are so abundant as if it’s less than a mile from your house you can’t really drink it right away so you have to take it home first. Grocery stores carry alcohol too and it’s also convenient.

A lot of states have specific regulations required to serve alcohol that makes it prohibitive for places like fast food restaurants to go through the trouble of getting a license to serve alcohol, even beer. While the types of requirements vary, some of the requirements include separate underage dining areas with minimum square footage percentages, hours of operation limits, zoning restrictions, employee age and server licensing requirements, just to name a few.

Making good biscuits can be a bit tricky. The first big thing is using the right flour. The right flour is a LOW PROTEIN flour. White wheat in general is around 9-12% protein, while the hard reds are 11-15%. One of the best biscuit flours is White Lily Unbleached Self Rising Flour which is about 7-8.5% protein. You can try to use cake flour in a 1-1 ratio with regular all-purpose flour. The other trick is not overworking the dough. You want to add the butter cold (not margarine or butter substitute, you NEED the fat) and broken into small pieces, you can even freeze the butter and grate it up. You want to mix the dough just until the wet and dry ingredients are combined and no longer. Some swear you shouldn't even roll the dough out.

I've had them all .. I have been all over the U.S. .. If you come to Texas you can hit Whataburger , In-n-Out , Sonic and Wendy's .. Then go to North Carolina for the Bojangles and Cook-out restaurants . ... While n North Carolina you absolutely have to go to the middle of the state and find a chain called Biscuitville .. They have HUGE American biscuit sandwiches ( you'll have to get to them for breakfast or lunch because they generally open around 5 am and close at 2:30 pm ) Everything is pretty great there .

Cheerwine isn’t really a “fast food” thing, it’s just a cherry soda that can normally only be bought in North and South Carolina (and a bit of border areas around those states). I hope one of your Carolina fans sends you some, though it’ll probably be in a can, which is decent but not the best version (the best is in good bottles… not sure why, but Cheerwine has more varied flavor IMO based on the container it comes in than most sodas). Maybe if a fan sends you that they can send you some NuGrape as well (grape soda from the same company). I love Cheerwine, but I’m not much of a fan of NuGrape, though it’s worth trying. Grape soda just isn’t the best IMO, though to each their own! (Also, I’ve found opinions about Cheerwine are usually a bit more extreme than other sodas. It’s more common for people to love or hate it than other sodas that are just “ok” much more often.)

All I can say about this list is that we have Culver's, In-N-Out Burger, and Whataburger in Arizona, along with tons of authentic Mexican Food, and even Filiberto's from one of this channels other videos. Yes, I separated Filiberto's from authentic Mexican food. That said, if the Beesley's find themselves in the US, Arizona is worth a stop, we even have that Canyon thingy here too.

Totally agree! The great thing about Arizona is we’re perfectly situated to get the best of Texas chains (like Whataburger) and California chains (like In-N-Out), then also Midwestern chains like Culver’s, Freddy’s or White Castle because of all the Midwestern transplants that live here And there’s a Filiberto’s around no matter where in The Valley you are

Gravy is just flour added to the grease leftover from cooking meat... nothing lean as it wouldn't have enough fast. NMilk for volume and water if it gets too thick. Salt and pepper to taste

My first experience with Sonic was about 50 yrs ago. Actually the food wasn’t very good but was fast; their slogan was "Service At the Speed of Sound." They had car hops, and if your food wasn’t delivered to you within ONE MINUTE there would be no charge. I’m not kidding. I don’t think they stuck with that policy too long.

When I tried gator sausage in New Orleans, I almost couldn't tell the difference between it and pork. The spices they use in pork sausages are pretty similar if not the same. Also you have hot sauces you REALLY can't taste the difference.

A good biscuit is served warm, and soft in middle. Don’t use gravy mix. Need to get American pork breakfast sausage. Cook it add two tablespoons of flour. Once it absorbs the grease from sausage add two cups of milk cook till it gets thick add salt and pepper to taste! Good sausage is the key

I don't drink soda so I get a Sonic cup of ice and put line and cherry juice over it and a little salt and dig in. Biscuts are so different than scones. And not all biscuts are created equal, nor is gravy. They are so easy to make from scratch.

When my son, a rough terrain Wildland firefighter from Oregon, and his crew, where deployed many times to California to fight fires there. In-N-Out and Chik-fil-A would feed the out of state firefighters for free, since Cal Fire did not provide food for them, just the Cal Fire crews.

This is great. When I was in law school we met the dat dog guy, he was an ex lawyer Tulane grad and they were trying to show us, see, you can still live even if you suck at being a lawyer hahaha. We went to dat dog for a couple private events and ended up going back every time we passed by because the variety just always left you wondering what the next one would taste like. Gator dogs are fine but gator is kind of like chicken so it is better deep fried/ chicken fried or something along those lines- a delicate flavor that doesn’t need a million sauces and toppings, just a little salt and pepper and maybe some batter and butter.

I love animal fries and a double double animal style! The "Secret menu" at In N Out is awesome. Like probably most Californians I think In N Out is the best fast food chain PERIOD. I know that fans of Whattaburger or other regional chains in the US will disagree strongly with me but I'm not budging or changing my mind EVER. @@BobungaShamunga same here. We just got that in our area in Texas a few years ago. They don't have many options on the menu as it is basically a combination of burgers and fries (no chicken option) and their fries suck (sorry, California). I tried it the regular way and I tried to get the fries when they cooked them more. They still sucked. I have even tried their animal style and it just seemed like a hot mess that was really difficult to eat. The animal style was better on the burger but I know not to get their fries now because it was a waste of money for us. It is too bad they don't have onion rings or some other option. If you are only going to have one side as an option, it should taste better than that. I think I will stick with Whataburger. They have better burgers that are much more customizable and multiple side options that don't suck. They also offer salads and chicken options because often not everyone wants the same thing at the same time at our house.
