Also listing the chemical names is just to be specific. If they say they're including sodium chloride it's still just salt. There are more preservatives and colorants and so on because they're prepared with a certain end appearance, texture and so on to the customer and that has to be done in a way that's consistent and that will not degrade quickly during shipment. The same with preservatives and stuff.

Also if you figured out similar portions the calories would probably be the same or close to the same. Bigger sizes are usually shared with others.

Yes, it is required by the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to list all ingredients in prepared foods for allergy purposes & so Americans can know EXACTLY what they are consuming to have the choice on what to shove into their pieholes. lol ;) So people outside the U.S. who are getting our fast food chains, you're getting the same crap we are but your government would rather not tell you. lol

This may not be true. There are very few restrictions on what can be put into food here in the US. For instance they put Arsenic, a poison, on apples. I know there are many laws in European nations that restrict this so the food is healthier and tastes different. Bread in Europe tastes very different than in the US even if using the same basic ingredients. This is also why people buy the Canadian or Mexican version of some foods like Heinz Ketchup or Coke. The ingredients are different because of the laws.

Do realize that - probably just like in the UK - people who buy a bucket of chicken in the USA usually intend to share it with an appropriate number of people. Another alternative is they will eat some and put the rest of the bucket in the refrigerator for later.

Just remember the US requires a break down every ingredient and it's needs to be in it's scientific name. Somethings may look or sound weird when it can be a regular day to day item you eat.

The UK and Europe ban most of the additives (that long list of chemicals) in their foods, so that's why you don't see a list a mile long in the ingredients of foods found at fast food places in the UK. The additives may not necessarily harm you, but they're not exactly healthy either, so they're not allowed in UK foods. Most of the time, the only ingredients you find are natural.

The UK also has weird laws regarding what they can put in food. I lived in England as a kid and the only way I could stand their fries was by putting malt vinegar on them. That made them edible.....

Watch a few of these and some Uk places list the same additives. The UK isn’t required to list every ingredient but they still add them.

You absolutely can get tea at US KFCs! It's not the traditional warm breakfast teas, but every KFC I've been to in the South sells sweet iced tea by the gallon! Same with Bojangles. Sweet tea is a staple of southern cuisine!

The large sizes (aside from drinks) are more regularly ordered for family meals. Like my family of 5 might get a meal that comes with a bucket of chicken, 2 large sides and biscuits. Normal meals that a single person would get would just come with a regular size side.

I'm sure someone said it already but let's not forget, in the US they fill the drink cup with ice before pouring the drink in there. You may actually get more soda, or whatever you're drinking, in the UK.

KFC for us is rare meal. We usually get 2 pieces extra crispy chicken breast, mashed potatoes with gravy and a biscuit. On occasion we get the potato wedges which are good with sauce. That's times two for two people.

Mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC were a MUST at my household once a month when me and my siblings would get our braces tightened at the orthodontist. It was always so painful the first day, so my mom would get us soft and mushy food and KFC was always our top request!

I have not been to KFC in many years. I didn’t know they had fries. Back in the day it was buckets of chicken, biscuits, mash potatoes, corn, and gravy. Since I don’t eat fried chicken, my favorite was always the mashed potatoes, gravy, and biscuits.

So there is one menu item that we sometimes have her in the US called the Double Down. It is a sandwich made of bacon, cheese, sauce, and two fried chicken fillets used as the buns. There is no bread. It is currently back here in the US. Also want to mention that their Chicken Pot Pie is really good for coming from a fast food restaurant and their are different versions of the bowls. All start with mashed potatoes.

i enjoy the bucket, the buttermilk biscuits are iffy, mac and cheese is good and thick. you can find a close KFC spice mix online, and marinate the chicken in buttermilk for a few hours like overnight. deep fry pieces at 350 degrees farenheit for between 5 minutes for thinner pieces, or 10 minutes for thicker pieces like breasts.

Mashed potatoes and gravy have always been a part of kfc. Well as long as I can remember anyway and I'm 58. We don't call and chicken sandwich a "burger". A burger is made with hamburger or ground (minced) meat.

The Famous Bowl or Mashes potato bowl in my opinion is the best thing on the menu. Also I have never been to KFC and not had mashes potatoes come with just about every meal option. It's one of the things that just makes it so much better especially with their gravy. I usually order an extra gravy so I can dip my chicken into it. I have never had fries at KFC so I have no clue if they are good or not, why would I bother when I have mashed potatoes and gravy.

Fifty years ago KFC sold "Corn and Cluck for Under a Buck". It was corn on the cob and a piece of chicken for less than a dollar. The mashed potatoes are made of instant mashed potatoes. I used to like their coleslaw, but not any more. (I'm old, and my tastes have changed.)

Most of the KFC outlets in my area closed long ago. Popeyes, on the other hand, are plentiful. The last time I ate at KFC I ordered an 8-piece bucket. I recall the breasts were cut into two parts. One of the pieces contained parts of the back. Out of curiosity I went to the KFC to check the prices. A single breast was priced at $4. A drumstick was priced at $3.49. Outrageous

The guy on the American side was slightly off. You can get corn on the cob for one. You can also get grilled chicken (which doesn't have the crispy crust), you can get macaroni and cheese ( not great), and the mashed potatoes are smaller size.

I agree. I usually get those with a three piece chicken tender meal. I think it only comes with one side and a biscuit and I normally pick mashed potatoes & gravy over the cole slaw, but occasionally if I am really hungry, I will add it on as an additional side.

Our KFC closed because of Covid. But we had potato wedges instead of fries, baked beans, green beans,corn or corn on the cob,slaw,biscuits(scones) or dinner rolls,mashed potato and gravy,pot pies, different potato bowls, chicken livers,puddings,pies,cookies(biscuits), and 4 types of chicken wings, popcorn chicken, and original and extra crispy chicken. Of course being in the south we also had sweet tea. I miss my KFC.

My go to is a chicken pot pie, unfortunately they often sold out as they only pre-cook a few of them at a time, and they take half an hour to bake. More than once the person ahead of me in line buys out the entire already cooked stock of pot pies. My back up option is usually the 3 piece chicken combo, which includes 2 breasts, a wing, cole slaw, mashed potatoes with gravy, a biscuit and a drink.

Also the fries if you noticed it said soy bean oil twice and salt twice aswell as sea salt. But a lot of those are things that are in you stuff you have you don’t list it all. Hence you can’t find the ingredients.

KFC Metro Detroit area sides: Mashed potatoes & gravy, Mac & cheese, Biscuits, Coleslaw, Green beans, Corn, plain Mashed potatoes, plain Gravy. Desserts: Chocolate Chip Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cake (use to offer Lemon Cake also). 20 years ago they use to have the best Potato salad and Macaroni salads (thick chewy noodles!)

KFC in the US is currently running a promotion for limited time. You can now get a bowl but it is mac & cheese with either regular or spicy chicken nuggets on top with melted cheese on top of that lol. I've not had it. I'm not a KFC fan. I just heard their advertisement for it the other day.

The thing is ingredients are listed according to how much is used. Starting with the first ingredient that has the most then the second ingredient that has a second most. And on like that if you look at where those potatoes came in? Are you a really getting any potatoes in those fries?
