Allowing Germany to grow so powerful was a massive mistake. Russia was an over exaggerated threat that was never going to threaten India as the populations in Central Asia were just too small

Tank, production line, lord of munitions, etc, etc... The entire future of all life in the known universe pivots on the innovations of English war and trade ingenuity.

i’m an american from the southern usa and i would say the biggest one for me personally is not having pursued reconquering the american colonies at the top of my list. would’ve saved us down here over a century worth of being a subservient, unfairly taxed vassal state of the federal us government, regional resentment with the north, racial resentment between whites and blacks, and hundreds of thousands of american lives simply due to the buying out process for freeing slaves. yall had the firepower to take us over i’ll never understand what the motivation was for not putting more effort into reconquest especially with how much money the colonies generated. i’d personally rather have lived in a timeline where the american revolution failed because things were much better here in the south before the civil war and would’ve been still even after 1836 when slavery was outlawed. that’s the main reason the south had a lot of the hotspots of royalist resistance.

The biggest bungle we made is choosing the wrong side in ww1 it made much more sense for us to Join the Germans and would have put us both in a far better position there was actually a proposal for an alliance but misunderstanding caused us to reject it Germany had offered to protect the home island and the rest of the empire in this alliance but we believed it was only for protection of the home islands which caused us to reject it and then allowed all of what happened to well happen

Britain factually lost the war of 1812.

The US economy was blockaded into bankruptcy and insolvency. The US invasions of Canada - the purpose of the war - were utterly thwarted. At most, Britain only used between 4%-7% of its total military capacity, and yet was able to totally incapacitate the United States to such a degree that the capitol buildings in Washington were set ablaze and the US could have been invaded and reconquered had Britain not been looking to appease the other European great powers. On paper it was a status quo ante bellum, but de facto it was a total British victory. How anyone can argue Britain lost this war is beyond me. ‘But Britain stopped the practice of stopping and searching American shipping vessels’ Britain agreed to stop doing this in 1812 *before* the war broke out, and this narrative (that this was what the war was fought over) was nothing more than anti-Federalist propaganda used to justify the war after the actual aim of invading Canada failed.

@@economicerudite4924 I've never before read such ahistorical drivel. You're wrong on all counts. Is this what the British education system tries to pass off? Very funny.

@@economicerudite4924 I have. All the points are wrong. The US wasn't blockaded into insolvency in the war of 1812. Annexation of Canada was never a goal of the US during the war. Far from achieving any of their stated goals, the British were forced to abandon the Michigan and upper mid western territories, which they had technically ceded during the revolution but never actually withdrew from. After the war, British troops left abandoned their forts in the region, and US forces moved in to claim the region. The British did agree to stop impressment... in 1814 with the end of the war. The British were also forced to give up on arming Indian tribes and ceased interfering in US trade. The proposal that the US could have been invaded and conquered is a completely delusional bit of nonsense that even the most disconnected Brits didn't believe even then. I have no idea where you dug that one up, but wow. The British lost the war of 1812 and were forced to abandon all of their positions. It's why they had to pretend that they got to keep Canada while ignoring the reality that nobody was trying to take it from them.
