You split the biscuits and stick a pat of butter in each one while they’re hot so that the butter soaks into the soft interior. Then you can add honey or jam inside with the melted butter. A buttered biscuit is the best thing for mopping up the yolk of a fried egg.

And include a little vitamin C everyday. It also makes your veins stronger as well... I had issues with my veins, and that's what helped me plump mine up

Oh my gosh! Grandad, I'm terribly sorry for your vein issue. I'm only in my 50s and I have the same problem. In January, I was hospitalized with pneumonia for two weeks and I was literally black and blue all over my hands, forearms, and even in the crook of my elbow! And guess what??! In the end, it was a sweet and gentle young student nurse who succeeded by using a tiny needle for babies. Sometimes our veins will roll around and not allow themselves to be pierced... 😮 You speak up at the doctor visit, and tell them to try a baby needle, so you don't get so badly bruised. I've seen your bruised hands in previous videos. Big hugs from 🇨🇦 🍁 We love you from Murphy Farm in CB NS 🍁🫂🤗🫂🍁

Hi Grandadjoe, I am in my early 50's & from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺.There is nothing wrong with being old fashioned. I like things the way they used to be. I like peach ice-tea. But during the day went it is warm outside. It is very refreshing. But for breakfast it is a hot cuppa. I am Disabled & suffer from Depression, so mornings are not my best time of day. So depending how I feel, depends on what I have to eat. Bit of a trick for when you have blood tests. Make sure you drink enough water. And get a balloon, fill it up with some warm water & tie a knot in the end. Hold the balloon over were you would normally have blood taken. Apparently the warmth helps to distend the veins, & makes it easier to take blood. Hope you can get your glasses fixed quickly. All my Grandparents died when I was young. And I Never knew my Mum's Mother. She got TB from a sick neighbour who would not stay home. She died when my Mum was 4. So my Mum was brought up by her Grandparents. I miss having Grandparents.

You're either having biscuits with honey like you're having scones with jam and clotted cream or you're having biscuits with sausage gravy. You don't put honey on the biscuits if you're having sausage gravy. Give it another go and split that biscuit in half, give it a good slathering of butter when it's fresh and hot out of the oven and then top it with your sausage gravy. Finish it off what is a generous amount of freshly ground black pepper and some hot sauce or red pepper flakes.
@decolonizeEverywhere5 күн бұрын
The only Savory Southern dish that you would find honey on would be fried chicken and quite often it's very spicy chili-infused honey. Or you could have chicken and waffles but that's generally with Maple syrup, not honey although it does happen.
@beatlesfran7 күн бұрын
In the south there's sweet tea and then there's sweetened tea. The difference is that with sweet tea you boil the water along with the sugar making a watery simple syrup before you add the tea to brew. Sweetened tea is brewed tea with sugar added after. Surprisingly it does make a difference in the taste.

Pretty funny and observant that he said it would be better to have the iced tea, not for breakfast. He got it right. Living in the Southern USA for over 50 years, I can attest that 'sweet tea' - which is the catch all phrase for sweetened iced tea - is not consumed during breakfast traditionally. It's a lunchtime and later beverage and most households have their own 'recipe' for making it.

I can empathize on the blood tests, I’m no good at them either. Pro tip - hydrate extra well the day before and the day of. Really push water as much as you can. It helps if you have difficult veins. Also, I really exercise my arms a lot and open and close my fists vigorously before they stick me and that helps a lot too. Final tip, if they usually draw your blood while you’re sitting up, ask them if you can lie down instead. It really works. I even had a nurse admit to me once that the blood actually flows better that way, don’t know why they always have people sitting up. Hope it went well ❤

A trick we found is to put a tiny amount of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in the iced tea. I use 1/8 tsp for two cups of iced tea (500ml/16.9 US fl oz). The bicarb dissolves the tannins and makes the tea less astringent. You can google it for more info.

As a Texan I can’t say I have had honey or butter with sausage gravy altogether. I would probably suggest trying those things separately on different biscuits. An American breakfast biscuit with butter, honey, or sausage gravy. But all at once may be a bit overwhelming. But if he likes it all together then I support that! Iced tea can be a breakfast drink but most people I know prefer it with lunch or dinner. It is ideal while relaxing outside on a warm day. American grits sprinkled with some sugar would be a good thing to try for breakfast if he hasn’t tried them. It is a classic breakfast food that many Americans his age would have grown up eating. Grits go well as a side to bacon, eggs, fruit, etc.

I hope you put the sugar in while the tea was still hot, then cooled it down, not the other way around. As for the honey, does that biscuit have sausage gravy? Nonononono, honey doesn't go on a biscuit with sausage gravy. It's either/or not both. Now, here's something for Granddad to try: Baked beans, the American way! Here's my family's recipe: In a pan cook 1/2 lb American style bacon. When it's nice and crisp, remove it from the pan and add 1/2 large or 1 small red onion, diced finely. Let it cook in the bacon grease until it's translucent, seasoning with a little garlic powder and black pepper. Crumble the bacon and mix that with the onion. Now, to a 9x9 baking dish (greased) add enough 15 oz cans pork & beans, with the juice, to fill the baking dish about 3/4 full. It will likely take 3-4 cans. Stir in the bacon and onion, about 1/2 cup brown sugar, and some finely ground black pepper. Now start adding ketchup and prepared yellow mustard. A quick squeeze zigzagging across the top with the yellow mustard is all you should need for that. For the ketchup, you'll need more than you might think. 1 cup might be enough, but more may be needed. Start with that much, stir, then check the color. It should be a deep brownish red color, almost like mahogany wood. Flavor-wise it should taste tangy and sweet, with hints of the onion and bacon. If it's not quite tangy enough you can add more ketchup. This is called cooking from the heart, btw. Now, bake at 450F (about 230C, or if you have a gas mark oven, it's apparently equivalent to GM 8) for 1 hour and stir. Return to the oven and bake at 30 minute intervals, stirring in between, until done. You'll know they're done when they are thick and the top is a thick layer of sauce that's risen to the top, thickened, and the color has deepened several shades. The edges should not be burnt. This is best served alongside a lovely spiral sliced ham, fried chicken, or barbequed beef or chicken.
@ChrisJohnson-x1x9 сағат бұрын
The problem with doing Bacon on a Pan, is that it stick together. I do mine straight on the Rack in the Oven, and I line the floord of the Oven to catch all the Fat, its perfect. I recommend the middle shelf at 200 degrees, and the more longer you leave it, the crispier it gets.
