The important thing to remember is not every state and major city has a professional team. So a lot of times a college team might better represent who you are and where you’re from. For instance Nebraska doesn’t have a professional football team but they do have the college team and so the people of that state support the college team bc the college often embodies the state and what that state is about.
@meactions9373
@meactions9373 2 жыл бұрын
ThBks man, yeah someone mentioned that before actually, they said you might have to catch a plane to get to your local nfl team but college football team should be much closer, that’s why attendances are so big?

@@meactions9373 yes sir. There’s multiple colleges in every state and often who you support is by family or whether you attended a certain college but it tends to be you go to your states college and support them.

@@meactions9373 Also "school life", including extra curricular activities, in both high school and college is huge. So kids are encouraged more than you can imagine to join a sports team, band, cheerleading, dance team, color guard for their school. When you apply to colleges they want to see what activities you participated in during high school almost as much as having excellent grades. Even high school football games get thousands of spectators. Yesterday I went with my friend to see her 7 year old grandson play what they call "Mighty Might" tackle football. They play by regular rules but don't keep score. There were I'd estimate over 200 people there to cheer on the kids.

Yes all teams ever level only plsy 1 game a week. They take all wk to study the opponent, practice what tactics to use and rehab. It is a VERY tactical game . It takes yrs to really learn, know it . It is literally like a military specialforces group. All the different units on a defense (DL, LB, CB, Sft) or offense (OlL, RB, QB, WR, TE) have their own coaches & assignments but still must play as one unit.

53 players on an NFL roster. 105- 125 on college teams but 70 travel for games . You have to keep in mind that every yr in college you lose 18-30 kids and replace them with a new class that needs to be developed. Also in college you have a whole scout team offense & Def that acts /looks like that wks opponents for the starters. Essentially practice dummies.

@@meactions9373 The best 75 players are decided on before the 1st game and mostly remain for the entire season. But with injuries or someone very much standing out on the scout (practice) team the roster can change. Each yr it is open competition to make those 75 spots .

@Counterpoint1951
@Counterpoint1951 2 жыл бұрын
@@meactions9373 The 128 teams (actually 131 teams) in Division 1 FBS are divided into various conferences. There are 10 conferences: the Power 5 conferences are the Big Ten (often shortened to B1G), the SEC (Southeastern Conference), the Big XII, the Pac-12 (Pacific 12), and ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference). All of the team entrances you saw here are from schools in Power 5 conferences. The non-Power 5 FBS conferences are called the Group of Five and consist of the MAC (Mid-American Conference), the Sun Belt, the AAC (American Athletic Conference), Mountain West, and Conference-USA (C-USA). There are about 10-14 teams in each one depending on the conference. Conferences are usually split into divisions (though there are exceptions), with each team playing all the teams in their division and some of the teams in the other division. There are also a few out-of-conference games played, usually the first 3-4 games of the season, so a team might play 4 teams outside their conference with the remaining 8 within their conference, making the regular season only 12 games, which are a mix of home and away. The 2 best teams then play in their conference championship game (if they have one), and the best of the best are chosen to fill the 4 spots in the College Football Playoff for a chance to win the national title. The playoff is dominated by teams from the Power 5 conferences, though the University of Cincinnati (from the Group of Five American Athletic Conference) made the playoff last season. The teams that don't make the playoff play in other bowl games if their record is good enough (though teams with sub-par records sometime play in bowl games if there aren't enough better teams to fill those spots). There's more to college football than this, but I've probably said enough for now.
