An enjoyable day out in Franklin where even the White Horse at Westbury got a mention. Friendly lady who was happy to spend time with you. My aunt and uncle in Amersfoort used to live in Franklinstraat but in a neighbourhood where all the streets were named after scientists, so probably little connection with Franklin, Tennessee. Did you try a classic diner out in the US? Great atmosphere with free cawfie refills and the middle-aged waitress calling everyone darling. Just checked, Rosalind Franklin was a British chemist... never knew that.

I really enjoyed chatting with her! Didn't try a proper diner as James likes Hooters and giordano's too much! Never knew that about Rosalind Franklin either... Not sure it was the right place to flaunt my Britishness anyway!

@@helloantoniotraveladventures Franklin, Tennessee seems to have got its name from Benjamin Franklin who was a polymath (polymath, what's that?) among other things. "Benjamin Franklin was an American polymath who was active as a writer, scientist, inventor, statesman, diplomat, printer, publisher, and political philosopher." So maybe Franklinstraat in Amersfoort was named after him, who knows? Anyway, there was no need to flaunt your Britishness after all.... 🤣

@DikWhite most likely, they live their former presidents there! Polymath... Isn't that just somebody who's really good at maths?

@@helloantoniotraveladventures "people whose interests and knowledge capabilities span multiple disciplines. They draw on disparate fields to generate new insights, and leverage upon the best human discoveries to enhance their own understanding of a problem or phenomenon." He was probably really good at maths too, unlike me and those bloody calculus exams I kept failing.
