This movie makes everyone cry 😭 every time we watch it. What an amazing man Rudy was! It’s a True story and the Vince Vaughn look alike was Vince! This is an old movie. His lawyer buddy D-Bob is actor and screenwriter John Favreau. The actor playing Rudy is Sean Astin also known for his role as Samwise Gamgee the hobbit in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. His ex girlfriend was actress Lily Taylor from movies like Mystic Pizza, Say Anything and television show Six Feet Under. There are lots of stars in this movie. ❤

This is truly a GUY movie. This movie ALWAYS chokes me up whenever I watch it. Once during the 1990s, I was suffering from a bout of depression and my doctor prescribed antidepressants which I took for a few weeks. I remember the first time I watched this while on the antidepressants, and I felt nothing after watching this. I was so much more depressed that I felt nothing that I instantly got off the antidepressants. The feeling that guys get from watching a movie like this is something that men really need to feel from time to time. One of the all time, great sports movies.

I remember reading a sports illustrated article on this movie. The writer was on a plane and this movie was playing. He saw another man crying and the man saw him crying. They both acknowledged it. Imagine how much this movie resonates for those who've attended Notre Dame. They understand how challenging it is academically, and the bond between the athletes and the rest of the student body. They understand what a blessing it is to be able to have that experience and be part of that community. Every time I watch Rudy opening his acceptance letter, I'm reminded of when my mother brought mine in from the mail and happily announced "It's from Notre Dame, and it's a thick envelope!" She knew that meant it was an acceptance, since rejections would just be a single page.
@jamesf.ryaniii79187 ай бұрын
"Since 1975 no other Notre Dame player has been carried off the field...." That was true when this movie came out in 1993, but in 1995 the Notre Dame football team carried another player off the field - fullback Marc Edwards who ran for 82 yards and had 3 touchdowns in a game against USC. Marc Edwards went on to play for various teams in the NFL and was a member of the New England Patriots when they won the Super Bowl in 2002.

My favorite thing about this movie is that, you know the game at the end? My mom and dad were at that game. My dad was one semester away from completing his MBA (Master's in Business Administration) and my mom worked in the bookstore. My dad, may he rest in peace, was absolutely certain that the Rudy chant was complete fiction. (My mom had to leave 10 minutes early because the bookstore got swamped after games.) And so help me, to my mind the movie was over when Ned Beatty announced over the loudspeaker "MY SON'S GOING TO NOTRE DAME!" -- I feel like that would have made my dad's _life_ if any of his children went to Notre Dame like he did. Not that he had anything against Nassau Community College and SUNY-New Paltz...
