I was the only one in my immediate family to go into the military. I was a medic in the Army during Desert Shield and had a cousin that was in the U.S. Navy and an Uncle that served in the Army during the Korean war. It was just a calling that I had to listen to. I have known a few Army SF personnel and you would never know by looking at them that they were Green Berets. They don't look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

@@famalam943 No, Mr. Snark, I'll educate you further. - 'SEAL Team Six' is unofficial, they are officially a distinct organisation from SEALs. - Therefore, when you state "seal team 6 are tier 1" in response to me saying SEALs are tier 2 (clearly meant as a correction), it's an irrelevant comment.

Marine Force Recon, born and raised in Oklahoma (we sit on top of Texas lol) for me it was something that the Marines was their Christmas toy drive for less fortunate kids called toy's for tots, it was the dress blues that sparked my interest at like 4 years old. I grew up wanting to be a Marine. Then I became an adrenaline junkie. I asked my recruiter what was the most adrenaline packed MOS in the Marines, he just happened to come from Force Recon and he explained that to me. Mind you I know now it's MARSOC, but I enlisted in 1999 so they didn't change that until after I was getting my medical discharge in 06.

You have to think of the industrial industry in Northern England. From Coal mining, to Steel Mills and a Myriad of Dangerous jobs .Which you need training to not get dead .So I'm not surprised it crosses over to Millary. Obviously it's not exactly or no way near as Dangerous as the military.

Hi Ryan, I'm a U.S. Veteran who was present when two SAS GUYS were snatched by the IRA beside our home when I was a kid. As a Catholic in Northern Ireland, especially as a kid, we cheered on this IRA operation. I've since served alongside some of the best human beings I've ever met & they were young Brits. And most agreed with the fight that was fought by our dads & uncles, even some mothers, in order to push out the occupier. The SAS are amazing warriors but they were modern-day black & tans who had no prob kicking moms teeth in for not “giving up” our uncle. But 99.99% of the Brits I served with we're staunch, good & decent ppl & as a US/ Irish dual citizen I have no probe with today's Brits. God Bless Ryan 🇺🇸🇮🇪🇺🇦

Don't appreciate your stereotype of assuming Northerners are tougher then Southerners in the UK,, It's an old hat theory that does not bear scrutiny. Fact is we are all the same, in some instances Northers have it easier then Southerners, for example it is cheaper to live in the north, property is cheaper and prices for commodities are cheaper, therefore the standard of living for a price is better in the North of England. That gap is narrowing, it can hardly be said its cheap to live in some Northern cities nowadays. Also commuting and lifestyle could be consdiered harder in the South, commuting in central London is expensive and stressful, commuting in Newcastle much less so Your comment that is harde to live in the North compared to the South is nonsense. There is a lot of research you can see to support these points. Summary is there are some cultural differences but we are basically all the same, the SAS recruit from all over the UK and beyond although there is demographically a larger proportion of Scottish soldiers in the SAS which I believe is about 12 ro 13% when the %gage of UK being Scottish is 8%. In short, assuming that people are hardier in the North assuming Southerners are soft is nonsense.
@overthewebb
@overthewebb Жыл бұрын
It does bear scrutiny though, the majority of SAS in history per percentage were Scots first and foremost, Scots created it, then Northern English and Southerners last. THere are tough Southerners, but a lesser percentage as life traditionally has been easier down South
@gazzap6664
@gazzap6664 Жыл бұрын
@@overthewebb do some research and ask working people how hard it is to survive in London. Plenty for you to research, the point that Northerners are "tougher" is complete rubbish. There is a strong Scottish representation in the SAS i believe has more to do with Scot (major Stirling) as the founder of the SAS,, Scotland has a proud military history with the SAS. I am simply challenging the ridicilous, old fashioned sterotype that Northerners are hatd and Southerners are not,, its complete nonsense and no thinking person woukd draw such a silly comclusion.
