From a person who wears the MTP uniform for a living, a bloody good review mate Just a few things want to touch up on I agree our MTP is more comfortable than the American Multicam, I personally tried the Multicam at one point in the early stages of intro into the services stocks ran out so for a short period of time we used the Multicam Oh you guys are the ones driving on the wrong side of the road lol Ministry of Defence uniform regs has changed from wearing shirt out to wearing tucked in but then it's a loose rule and is up to the base commander to decide The pockets on the sleeves are used for padding but can be used to carry like mini notepad etc Our Velcro are strong they have to be, we don't want things to fall off Buttons are covered because on the previous woodland and desert DPMs tends to snag on armour or rig and netting etc also hides the button from any possibility of reflecting even though buttons for the most part are matte finish And those buttons are not Canadian style they are British the Canadian get them off us The arm pockets are slanted more horizontally because it's better access more so when wearing the osprey body armour the Velcro patch are there indeed for regt. And unit patch as well as blood type, on the UBAC shirt uses the Velcro patch with same patches plus a ZAP patch which is basically ID dog tags in a way with rank name and number Thank goodness they got rid of the button on the rank tab replaced it with Velcro Mandarin collar similar to the American uniform (ACUs) Well compared to the previous uniforms and the now MTP the Americans have given up a lot The Multicam concept, Velcro Velcro and more Velcro the mandarin collar, and the pockets for padding in the arms In terms of the colour well obviously we would have to colour the MTP in a shade that matches the UKs drab grey weather don't you think ;) Anyway mate very good review and thank you for preferring our uniforms And I would love to see more reviews on our kit

A McDoom Thanks for the compliments, and the info. :-) Duly noted regarding them being British buttons and not Canadian.... lol. Roger that on the colors... figured that. Just did a new video on the US Army's new uniform... it has some changes over the previous ACU's. Check it out.

Well joining the military is like any job you need to present yourself as you would for any job interview have a fit lifestyle it make it easier during your training make sure your not involved in gangs or terror group or illegal militias for obvious reasons it will be an added benefit if you were a cadet eg ACF Sea cadet air cadet RMVC CCF there are many things you can do to prepare if you need any more please do ask and also do some research of your own some tips are more adaptive to you than others and you need to find what's right for you

"And those buttons are not Canadian style they are British the Canadian get them off us" Funny but Canadian combat uniforms have used those larger fabric loop secured buttons since the 1960's. British army not so much.

What are the squares of fabric velcroed onto the shoulder pockets for?

Nah mate, they’re Canadian buttons. They were first used in 1951 for the new cold weather parka for Korea. They Canadians at Kapyong had them, the British there didn’t.

Found your channel by mistake. I am hooked! As a serving British Army soldier (close to retirement) I find the new issue pcs very comfortable and very affective. Whatever the outcome of your trial we are brothers in Arms

Very good review bud! I still wear an old mtp shirt daily especially in summer and autumn as it can get rather hot during the day. At night (if out camping or fishing) chuck a layer under. Golden! Very good pal :) least we're all looking fairly similar xD

I have just been given an ex-issue MTP Jacket by a friend. I am still getting used to it as I am a die hard DPM (UK) user, which was the pattern when I served, so it is ingrained with me. But saying that, I really like the practicality of the MTP jacket. I use it for daily wearing as the pockets are great for me. I can fit my phone, keys, wallet and Kindle in the Breast pockets and also if I am going into the city I am not worried about pickpockets, etc. as I have never seen or heard of silent tactical Velcro if someone tried to open my pockets, so someone taking my wallet, phone, etc without me knowing it isn't going to happen from a personal security point of view around the city, it is great and I can have my hands free for other things. The pattern is growing on me gradually, but I don't think it will replace all my DPM kit as I think DPM will be more useful in deep forests and woods when stealth camping, where the shadows will blend more with DPM, however for just up on the hills in the Heather and scrub, etc MTP will have its uses for me.

Realy cool review. I also use the MTPs for quite some time. "Temprates" for both summer and fall (with "Norgie" and thermals) and in winter with TNF Thermoball jacket and MTP MKII Windproof Smock on top of it all. Really cool stuff. The only thing I did with my Temperate shirt is I removed the soulder pockets, sew on velcro for the ID patches (cats eyes; flag etc). I did it because the pockets somehow always got in bloody way when I was trying to take my backpack off. I did the same with the MKII Smock shoulder pockets. I dont use any chest rigs so its not a problem I dont need any shoulder pockets - i prefer to use an oldschool beltkit anyway. I also removed the velcro form the chest pockets in the Temperate shirt and sew in zips. So now , in the middle of the night I dont have to cough or yell to cover that damn sound of velcro if I want to grab a compass or a notbook LOL (just kidding). Best wishes from Poland!

50/50 Nyco maintains and shows better the colors (less fading) also the aramid flame retardant ones ( as the one on the left end) are darker than the normal g.i policotton part of the differences comes from there as the british shirt on display is not fire retardant.

I hate american multi camo. The British stuff feels really nice .
