Brings back some memories. I used to see Cov station a lot travelling up from Reading around this time using my ypr to and from uni. I miss those 47s

Been past Coventry and Birmingham International on the train couple years ago. I do remember the Intercity and they were so efficient and reliable.

Where I was born and grew up and became a spotter... although by this point, I'd long since stopped, LOLZ. The amount of stuff we used to get through Cov in the 70s and 80s... you'd clear and class the 86s and 87's within a month then be looking out for 47s, 31's and god knows how many 25's which were as common as muck around then. Saltley, New St and Bescot were the places we'd decamp to more often than not. I must have spent half of my wasted youth at Saltley.

Was struggling to figure out how you got the Porterbrook 47 heading in the same direction with different ends leading then realised 47807 and 47817 were both in that livery !!

It was a Summer Saturday working to Ramsgate that only ran for 6 or 8 weeks per year. I'm sure it was used by enthusiasts in control to get all sorts of unusual traction on it, a pair of 31s were used one weekend, a class 37+47 in tandem on another..... I think it was rare to get a standard class 47/8.......
