British Rail Class 91 Walkround Traction Guide featuring 91107

Welcome to an unusual video guide today where I take you along for a look round a classic British Rail AC electric locomotive - The mightly Class 91.
This class of loco holds the world record for an AC locomotive reacing a top speed of 161.7 mph (260.2 km/h), set on 17 September 1989 which was set by loco 91110
Today we aren't looking the actual round the recod holding locomotive, but one of it's sisters from the fleet - 91107.
We take a breif overview of the equipment within the driving cabs, the engine room/equipment bay and the underframe and locomotive ends.
This video was created as a guide for traction trainees and all safety procedures were followed whilst working within a live railway depot environment.

@and321nowyou are probably right to be honest. I was at heaton Newcastle for about 5 years, most of my work was on 156s and 142 noding. Donkeys. Mostly bogie drops and brake relines . Sometimes Cummins engine swaps . We had 3 or 4 91 sets in each night,usually for safety service inspection, but I never really got to work on them .

wow, this is epic!!! the Class 91 is my favourite train!!!!!!!!! this is awesome, would love to visit Neville Hill or Bounds Green to see this all in person, the sounds, the smells! in 2018 I did a day with VTEC riding in the cab of a 91 it was amazing! would love to do something again on a 225 before they go

Hi can the 91 be remotely shunted by the controls by the door I noticed 2 sets of controls 1 in each cab by the doors ?

The auxiliary driving controls are still active, but give limited operational control for power and brake. They still work but aren’t used anymore. The accompanying Mk4 DVT has auxiliary driving controls also, but all have been disconnected.
