Sad to see that this was the last run of the Class 307's. They looked like solid built trains. Great video!

Photos of this appeared in an edition of Motive power monthly magazine. An 8 year old won the raffle for the headboard, and the driver was Neil Bunt, based at Southend Victoria.

That 8 year old would now be in their mid 40s. Scary thought...

I remember doing several days out to Southend in the 80s,each time returning into Liverpool Street on a different Class of unit. At least once was in a 307, the best one was in a 312 because you could see through the cab.

This was my local railway until a month ago. The opening sequence shows a 321 heading onto the Southminster branch. Hard to believe even the Dusty Bins are now history.. The incline down into Wickford from Rayleigh is clear; the latter town being the 4th highest point in Essex.

This still is my local, it’s interesting to see how much it’s changed in 30 ish years

I miss getting the 307s from Romford to Liverpool Street on occasion.

It's not a disgrace at all. We can't keep every old thing that has ever existed. Where would we put it all?

@@Keithbarber nah it's just quite sad and what I used to do as a 13 year old, not as a grown man. 😂
